Believing Satan is not a being.....

I just had the pleasure of talking to a catholic on the net who told me that Satan is not a real being but he is in all of us.
I told him that this is nonsense and then he told me that I am not up to date and that the theological dogmatic says something else. LOL!
He thinks that Satan is the decision of man to do evil. What a nonsense!
If there is no Satan, then where does evil even come from? If there is only God then there also wouldn't be evil. I cannot believe that people believe this nonsense.
And this guy really thought he knows more than me, lol! I'm not up to date...
Maybe I should sign in for the theological dogmatic newsletter and get the latest news on the bible.

Hey Frederik,

So who/what do you believe Satan to be?

Why are you so sceptical of the idea that Satan, or at least a part of what he/it is, is the evil within us. Satan is the great Tempter right? I've never known anyone or anything tempt me to do evil with more effect than the sinful nature within myself.

To be honest I’m not entirely sure of what the Bible says on Satan, so if anyone knows, please feel free to educate.

We have a sinful nature. Satan can also tempt us. This does not mean Satan is in us and this also does not mean Satan is not a being. Satan is a being,an angel. He rebelled against God. The bible describes it all. When you believe Satan is not a being and everything is only metaphorical then you can as well let it be cause then nothing makes sense anymore then you can as well doubt wether hell is real.
Maybe hell is not even real,maybe it's a metapher...yay! Let's party!

Dear Brother Frederik- I suggest you read about satan's fall- Isa. 14:12-15. You'll find he was God's greatest Cherub Angel who fell from pride. He was originally called- Lucifer. There are other Scriptures that show how he rose up trying to be like God only to need to be cast out of God's Domain. Satan is a "fallen angel" as God declares.

God Bless!!

I know that. I don't understand how somebody can believe that Satan is not real. This is silly.

This catholic also claims that the sermon of the mount was
composed by Matthew. He said that he took it from one of Jesus'
speeches from the gospel of Luke. Have you ever heard this nonsense?

Lots of denominations out there have goofy doctrines.

That's why it's so important to know the Word, know the Word, know the Word!!!

Frederik- If you pay attention to the 4 Books of the Gospel, you'll find a minimum of 2 each will have confirming Scriptures in them detailing the life of Christ and His Ministry teachings while here on earth. Did you explain to this person, that Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were the 4 who wrote these things as each heard and experienced them?

Each one either wrote these things or had them scribed while they dictated. that is why each one shows a slight variation in view point, being from the eye of a Tax collector, a Doctor and fishermen.

Yet, they are the exact teachings of Christ, not the Disciples. I know where they got this false belief from, as this is how some Cult religions claim the Bible is not the inerant Word of God. But, It is. Praise God!!! God Bless!!

Is there a scene in Luke where Jesus says the same sentences which he also says in the sermon of the mount in Matthew?

Well now, I guess thats up to you to read both and compare, isn't it?

As an added suggestion, I look at God's Word this way- as an old spoked wheel- God is the center hub- each spoke- represents a person God led and spoke to or thru, His Word.

The outside rim is God's Word. Now, even tho all Truths of God were shared slightly different because of upbringing, cultural differences, job or training backround from one person to the next, the same end result for Truth of God's Word always per Truth spoken of, is confirmed, even if explained slightly different.

thus, you'll find the meaning is exactly the same, but from a more limited view in some cases, to a more broadened one, depending on the person sharing what they have heard, seen or experienced about from God.

This is why, we can have a general understanding of God's Word from the literal meaning of It. But, the Holy Spirit, thru each individual, can share more insight from a different perspective according to that person's way of seeing things.

But, you can still tell if of God or not, by checking His Word and other Scriptures that support it. I used to teach a class on how to understand God's Word better thru the way we search Scripture- I called it the "Construction method".

God Bless!!
