The bible says that the wage of sin is death. And death means the second death, right? This would mean that hell is the punishment for our sins and not for rejecting Jesus. Is this correct?

Think of it this way.....

you're a kid who has just rolled in the mud to the max.

Mom won't let you come to dinner unless go take a bath first.

Now you must choose what to do. Your choice determines your consequences.

If you refuse to take a bath....

Is mom refusing you dinner because you're covered in mud

OR because you've refused to take a bath?

Answer: BOTH!

Good analogy but are you sure this is biblical?

God shows in His Word, how you can have a head knowledge of the Truth, and do all kinds of works, yet be repentant for sins,, but if haven't truely saught Salvation, you still go to Hell.

As MamaCat showed, both aspects are part of the sin subject. As God declares Grace is more important thru Christ. If works are, then Christ died on the cross in vain.

Fact is, because Christ died for all people, regardless of all the good works a person does, if still reject Christ, they won't see the Kingdom of Heaven. (He who hath the Son, hath life, he who hath not the Son, hath not life".)

God Bless!!

I believe what CC is saying is that good works to do make you born again.

Read John 3.
