McCreary County, KY (WVLT) - A part-time McCreary County pastor is dead after a freak accident Monday morning.
Jimmy Tucker was working as a construction worker when he stopped along US 27 in McCreary County to help a fellow truck driver who was having mechanical problems.
As Tucker was checking the brakes of the truck, for some reason the tailgate gave way and Tucker was buried waist deep in scorching hot asphalt.
Other construction workers worked feverishly to dig him out, but Tucker died at the scene.
Another construction worker was airlifted to the Vanderbilt burn unit for treatment.
Jimmy Tucker was a part-time pastor in Whitley City at the Dry Ridge Baptist Church.
Please take a moment to pray for his family and his congregation.

Father place Your arms about this Family and Congregation, hold them close to Your heart so that they hear Your voice and hear the beat of Your Life. Lord do not allow any to turn from Jesus because of this death. Call those who waver in their faith and hold them close also. Comfort the men who had to watch Pastor Tucker die as they struggled to help him, erase from their memory the tragedy and replace it with the victory of Your eternal life! Thank You Lord! AMEN!
