What can I expect now?
I mean I want to be realistic.
This doesn't mean that I won't sin anymore, right?
But what has changed now because of the water baptizm?
A friend of me told me that it's just a symbol but I think it's much more than a symbol.

Do you think that without the water baptizm you cannot really get breakthroughs?

Of course you can get breakthroughs! Think aout the breakthrough that first brought you to Christ, think about the one prompting you to get baptized. There's plenty of biblical evidence for breakthoughs without baptism - you only have to look at Paul's conversion to see this.

But being baptised is a great thing because it brings you that much closer to Christ. It doesn't stop you sinning or mean that you'll be tempted less, but it does mark the start of a new attitude towards sin and temptation. You have died to this world and risen in Christ. You have publicly demonstrated that you place yourself in the Lord's keeping and that you are His.

Frederik, I really hope that you will come to rest in the all-encompassing love that is behind this act that God has blessed us with. He has allowed you to become a new creation, one fully committed to loving Him. There will be times when your old sinful life tempts you back, or new situations prompt you to respond in a manner unbecoming of your new life, but stand firm my friend and trust in the Lord, for you are His and He is yours.

With Love and Joy on this occasion
J

Before getting baptized it would have been great for those doing the baptizing to explain what you were doing. Wasn't anything said? I've never seen it happen where the ministers didn't explain the meaning of what you were doing.

You are outwardly confessing to the world that you are a follower of Christ, a true believer. You were symbolically buried with Christ and rose to new life in Him. A new creature in Christ. Old things are passed away, all things have become new! You don't have to live with the defeatest attitudes anymore.

Prayer— Battle in "The Secret Place"

When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly
—Matthew 6:6
Jesus did not say, "Dream about your Father who is in the secret place," but He said, ". . . pray to your Father who is in the secret place. . . ." Prayer is an effort of the will. After we have entered our secret place and shut the door, the most difficult thing to do is to pray. We cannot seem to get our minds into good working order, and the first thing we have to fight is wandering thoughts. The great battle in private prayer is overcoming this problem of our idle and wandering thinking. We have to learn to discipline our minds and concentrate on willful, deliberate prayer.

We must have a specially selected place for prayer, but once we get there this plague of wandering thoughts begins, as we begin to think to ourselves, "This needs to be done, and I have to do that today." Jesus says to "shut your door." Having a secret stillness before God means deliberately shutting the door on our emotions and remembering Him. God is in secret, and He sees us from "the secret place"— He does not see us as other people do, or as we see ourselves. When we truly live in "the secret place," it becomes impossible for us to doubt God. We become more sure of Him than of anyone or anything else. Enter into "the secret place," and you will find that God was right in the middle of your everyday circumstances all the time. Get into the habit of dealing with God about everything. Unless you learn to open the door of your life completely and let God in from your first waking moment of each new day, you will be working on the wrong level throughout the day. But if you will swing the door of your life fully open and "pray to your Father who is in the secret place," every public thing in your life will be marked with the lasting imprint of the presence of God.

Frederik,
Hello brother! Good for you, and congratulations!

I know you probably may not have "felt" anything (besides wet), but this signifies to the entire world, and the Heavenlies that you have publically accepted Jesus Christ. It's a public display, and confession, of your faith!

I truly hope you experience the great, and wonderful things of God!

Be in Peace, and have a great day in the LORD!
Semper Fi!
-Bill

Well, Brother Frederik, Let's just say that because you have been water baptized, You're on Your Way to becoming acquainted with the Father through the minstry of the Word of God. Following instructions as outlined in the Word draws you closer to God. For example, did you know that WATER BAPTISM is one of the TWO ORDINANCES that Jesus commanded his Church to perform? The other is COMMUNION. So you see, that, you are already following instructions of the Lord Jesus Christ, and it can only GET BETTER FOR YOU, as you continue to HEAR and DO, as outlined in MATTHEW Chapter 7 and Verses 24 and 25. So, once again, I am very happy for You My Brother, AND UNTIL NEXT TIME.......PRAISE THE LORD!

Thanks everybody.
The pastor did not talk much about baptizm, he talked about something else. But I listened to a teaching about baptizm from Derek Prince before cause I wanted to know what it's really about. Otherwise it would be a bit dumb to do something when you don't even know what it's all about.
But my question is wether all the old habits and all the things which were not okay will automatically be gone now where I am baptized.
When the old man is dead then also all the bad habits should be gone, right?

I celebrate your new life in Christ

God gives you grace to turn from your old ways. However, you can frustrate that grace and continue to go your way and it will be your choice. There is no easy, unresisting path in this life, saved or unsaved. However, God will honor you when you honor Him. If you will make it a habit to pray daily, getting on your knees or in a place of complete solitude to empty out yourself totally and give yourself to Him, You will learn from the Master Himself what you should do and He will give you supernatural strength to follow His instructions and the path He has for you.

I have a couple of devotionals I sent to you, I hope you were able to read them and that they were a blessing to you. I know as you begin to make it a habit of praying for others, God will bless you marvelously. Here was yesterday's devotional, right on target:

Have You Come to "When" Yet?

The Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends
—Job 42:10
A pitiful, sickly, and self-centered kind of prayer and a determined effort and selfish desire to be right with God are never found in the New Testament. The fact that I am trying to be right with God is actually a sign that I am rebelling against the atonement by the Cross of Christ. I pray, "Lord, I will purify my heart if You will answer my prayer— I will walk rightly before You if You will help me." But I cannot make myself right with God; I cannot make my life perfect. I can only be right with God if I accept the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ as an absolute gift. Am I humble enough to accept it? I have to surrender all my rights and demands, and cease from every self-effort. I must leave myself completely alone in His hands, and then I can begin to pour my life out in the priestly work of intercession. There is a great deal of prayer that comes from actual disbelief in the atonement. Jesus is not just beginning to save us— He has already saved us completely. It is an accomplished fact, and it is an insult to Him for us to ask Him to do what He has already done.

If you are not now receiving the "hundredfold" which Jesus promised (see Matthew 19:29 ), and not getting insight into God’s Word, then start praying for your friends— enter into the ministry of the inner life. "The Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends." As a saved soul, the real business of your life is intercessory prayer. Whatever circumstances God may place you in, always pray immediately that His atonement may be recognized and as fully understood in the lives of others as it has been in yours. Pray for your friends now, and pray for those with whom you come in contact now.

Brother Frederik- Yes- Congradulations. Just remember tho, water baptism is but a ceremonial Law of God to signify to the world you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior. The real transformation comes from the renewing of the Holy Spirit working on your spirit over time.

As god declares, do not look to works to do this, but the renewing of the Holy Spirit within you to do this.

God Bless!!
