Can Satan instil thoughts into our minds?

I talked about this with someone and he said no and he quoted this here:

Jam 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Jam 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Does this prove that Satan cannot do this?
This would mean that all thoughts which we have in our minds or from ourselves!
But I have had such disgusting,vile,hostile thoughts even when I didn't want them, this would mean they were all mine!

When you get those thoughts, think of someting else and ask God to help you. I have to do this myself man!

But this doesn't work very well.
The main point is wether these are my thoughts or not.

Frederik- What that Scripture you shared given you states is that God will not tempt us, even tho He could if wanted to. But, He loves us too much. Rather, they did not mention the Scriptures that speak of satan as the great imitator, tempter, deciever and more.

Just as all that is good is of God, all that is evil is of satan. So... yes, satan can put evil thoughts in our minds.
