WAKE UP, America!!!

With the stroke of a pen last week, the Supreme Court of the United States effectively rejected one of the most fundamental constitutional freedoms guaranteed to all citizens ...

... the right to own property.

We've got to stop this NOW!

We must immediately stand up and demand that Texas Senator John Cornyn's bill, "The Protection of Homes, Small Businesses, and Private Property Act of 2005," be passed in Congress.

Now, we - the ACLJ and YOU - must work quickly to restore our private property rights BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. Join our nationwide campaign urging your Senators and Representatives to pass this legislation by contacting them and asking them to support John Cornyn's bill.

While we were watching the Supreme Court carefully for important rulings regarding the display of the Ten Commandments - and for the much-anticipated announcement of ailing Chief Justice Rehnquist's retirement ...

... a ruling in Kelo v. City of New London slipped "under the radar" that takes the government's power of eminent domain to a new - and frightening - level.

Before that ruling, the government could only step in and seize property if it was needed for public projects: road-building, parks, and the development of public entities, such as hospitals.

Today, with the Supreme Court's ruling, the government may seize the home, small business, or other private property of one citizen and transfer it to another private citizen - if the transfer would boost the community's economic development.

Simply put, this means your house could be replaced with a shopping mall.

Your church could be destroyed to build a baseball field.

Your small business could be crushed to erect a luxury hotel.

This is an outrage! The people who are going to benefit from this Supreme Court decision are people who have political influence and power, like large corporations. So this Supreme Court decision will allow the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer.

We've got to stop this NOW!

I truly believe it is going to take the voices of millions of Americans banded together to STOP this abuse of our private property rights.

Thanks to the swift and bold actions of Senator John Cornyn of Texas, a bill called "The Protection of Homes, Small Businesses, and Private Property Act of 2005" has already been introduced to Congress.

Senator Cornyn's legislation would prohibit transfers of private property without the owner's consent if federal funds were used - and if the transfer was for purposes of economic development rather than public use.

We must stand with this brave Senator and decry the Supreme Court's ruling that destroys our constitutionally-protected property rights! We must call for swift passage of the Protection of Homes, Small Businesses, and Private Property Act of 2005.

I pray we will NOT stand idly by and watch our most fundamental rights be stripped away.




(I reworded this a little, removing all references to the signing the ACLJ's petition. But I am STONRGLY URGING you to contact your Senators and representatives regarding passage of Senator John Cornyns bill "The Protection of Homes, Small Businesses, and Private Property Act of 2005.")

On an interesting note, someone told me they are now seizing Justice Souters (sp?) property.... and HE voted in favor of this seizing of property for the econmic good of the community....

Lord- We pray for this to be turned over and our right to own our property given back to us. We pray Lord, for Mr. Cornyn's bill to pass Congress and return that right back to us. Lord, please just change the strange mentality going on in our country and bring Leadership at all Governing levels to start thinking and operating more for your Principles and compassion for it's citzenry here. In Jesus Name- Amen!!

This smacks of Communism! They would seize people's proprty for "the party." I can not urge you strongly enough to speak out on this! And keep on praying! I have the addresses, eamil and snail mail, of my Senators and Reprenstives. I think this requires a HAND WRITTEN LETTER. Not to mention some phone calls.... Let's FLOOD THEM WITH AN OUTCRY!

This goes against two of the Ten Commandments, the very Commandments which our country's laws were founded on:

1) You shall not steal.

2) You shall not covet.... your neigbors house.

This law breaks the law of God!

This is on outrage! I am very apalled at this injustice! Something must be done! I will contact my senator about this! Greedy corporates with money and power are taking away from others! Just because you have power and resources, doesn't mean you take the little that people have left! ROAR! If anything, if you have more you should share more, not take more! Sadly, that's not the way this capitalist society is. They abuse their power just becuase they can. Economic efficiency, growth and profits are a higher priority than compassion! I think it's digusting! Something must be done!

Reminds me of another stroke of the pen when a hand appeared on the wall and wrote "ME-NE, ME-NE, TE-KEL, U-PHAR-SIN" or you are weighed in the balances and found wanting.

This decision is very bad...May the LORD GOD in heaven hear and answer all our prayers and reverse this decision. May he put righteous judges on the supreme court and give them wisdom to judge rightly.

Amen, Lord! Send rigteous judges to our Supreme Court! Let us battle this in the heavenlies, through prayer. Let the prayer warriors RUN to the front lines! Tell our President the right man/woman to appoint! Let him appoint someone who stands by the Constituion and who won't be liberal on abortion! Give our President the strength to do what's right! Convict his heart to make the RIGHT choice, the GODLY choice! Send us some born again, Spirit filled Supreme Court justices! I pray for an absolute miracle of God! I ask You to send angels to war in this battle! I pray that our prayers are enough.... Call in people to pray, pray, pray! Do not let us be half hearted. It is our choice! We can win back the Supreme Court through prayer! We can have judges as at the first.... Isaiah 1:26. Thank You, Lord, for sending us righteous judges!!! In Jesus Name, amen.

This only highlights how critical it is that we get a godly person appointed to the Supreme Court. The abolition of private ownership of property is the fundamental principle of communism. Atheism is another fundamental of communism. We must pray now that God will guide those advising the President on nominations for the Supreme Court, and that God's person would be put in place. We need to pray that a person who values human life, and will pass judgments to protect human life against murder (abortion, infanticide, euthanasia), as well as protect godliness and punish evil. We need to pray that this person will be able to win a majority vote in the Senate. Pray for great wisdom for the Senate Judiciary Committee, Arlen Specter, and Bill Frist, as well as their advisors, that they will take the right steps to put a god-fearing, courageous judge on the Supreme Court. Pray for President Bush to make a wise decision led by the Spirit of God. We have learned that the Supreme Court is one of the most powerful institutions in America, and we must win this. Please mobilize everyone you know in your church, friends, etc. to pray about this. Hold prayer meetings in your house, at your school, in your workplace. This is one of the most important things that will happen in America for many years to come. If we don't begin to get godly judgments, I'm afraid we are about to get God's Judgment against America.

We need new Supreme Court Justices that will have the courage to do what's right in God's sight and stick up for the Constitutional rights of everyone, and preserve the working person's rights, standard of living, and right to keep properties from being bulldozed over just so some greedy developer can make quick extra money. This recent Supreme Court ruling allowing developers to use immenent domain for their own selfish desires is disgusting. What else are they doing to stop working people's pension plans from being discontinued in the name of money? What are they doing to stop the steady export of American jobs to India and other countries? What are they going to do about the Patriot Act which allows police to search anyone's person, car, or property and even jail them forever without any probable cause in the name of fighting terrorism. This is supposed to be the America of the founding father's and not some playground of the rich and powerful to do anything they want. If current trends continue, there will be no more freedom, safety from unreasonable search and seizure, or standard of living for anyone but the very rich. Something must be done soon or America will be lost forever!!!

Lord, I ask for your will in choosing the right people for the Supreme Court and all other courts. Father, reverse the evil and send it back where it came from. Lord, we call for Righteous judges in this nation! Lord, call your children to pray day and night for this Nation to be turned around and for Righteousness to prevail. Lord, we ask a miracle! Father, surround your Warriors with your hedge of protection. Everyone of us is so under attack. Lord, let us rise up and fight the battles you have assigned us to. Do Your Word Lord, and Heal our land.

Amen to that! Father, You hear our cries for justice and to put justices in the supreme court who believe your law, instead of legislating from the bench and perverting the Constitution, which was written from inspiration by You through men who loved You and Your Word, the Bible! Father, deliver us out of the hand of these perverted "law givers" and miraculously put godly men and women in these high places to bring this Country back to the high place it once held. Standing for truth and justice. Put to shame the liars and perverters of Truth, twisting and defiling the intent of our founding fathers. Lying about who they were and what they believed, re-writing history to their benefit. Father, bring back into the light the original documents that reveal the true character of our founding fathers and what they endured to create a nation founded on belief in the bible and in You. I lost the info I had on my legislators, but I am going to go on their websites and get the addresses and phone numbers. I get lazy, but I am posting this in here to be sure I follow through. Hold me accountable! And tell me what YOU did to contact YOUR legislators. You see, they ALL have websites, so we can just type in their name on the search page, and it's a pretty sure bet we will get right over to their site. Over there, you can email them on ANY issue! So, LET'S DO THIS!!!

But, remember what it says in 1 Timothy, Chapter 2. Prayers and supplications should be made for all men.... especailly kings and those in aurthority! So pray our President makes the RIGHT nominations (pray for kings) and pray we get Godly justices (those in authority). This naiton is being RUN by the Supreme Court!!! This is not Constitutionally correct; that's why we have THREE branches of government!

But it was judges who stopped Jeb Bush from getting Terri S. out of the hospice and to safety! The local police (by command of the judges) said they would shoot the agents coming to take her, so Jeb backed off....

ANYWAY, WE MUST PRAY AND WE MUST ACT!!!

There is a thread on the home page to pray for the replacement judges; I will put the prayer clock idea over there. By all means take 7 - 8 PM, and I will note that time. I have to decide what time works for me.

I just emailed ONE Copngressman, Rick Larsen, as follows:

This is in regard to the passage by the Supreme court of the seizing of a person's property for the economic good of the community. In the recent ruling of "Kelo vs. City of New London," a terrible law was passed. The right to own property is one of the fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution! Now, it has been taken away with the stroke of a pen.

I am writing to encourage you to vote for the passage of Texas Senator John Cornyn's bill, "The Protection of Homes, Small Businesses, and Private Property Act of 2005."

I don't know much else to say. I could go on at length about the ramifications of this law that allows private property to be seized (stolen!!!) and used any way another party deems fit, all to help a community's economic growth. The strongest way I now to say it is: THIS IS COMMUNISM!!! We just applauded the man who was the cause of the crumbling of the Iron Curtain as one of the greatest Presidents of all time (Ronald Reagan), so why are we now endorsing Communism with this ruling by the Supreme Court? There are THREE branches of government, and they are to balance each other, but the Supreme Court seems to be dictating the laws of the land. This needs to change! You can help by voting "Yes" on Senator Cornyn's bill, "The Protection of Homes, Small Businesses, and Private Property Act of 2005."

Sent same letter to Maria Cantwell. Very interesting that property rights was not in her list of issues to choose from when writing. Very interesting that her front page news made reference to the passage of tsunami safety legislation, her comments on Sandra Day O'Conner's resignation and the debate that is coming on the propasal for an Ice Age Flood National Geological trail (our tax dollars at work !!!) through portions of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. BUT NO MENTION OF THIS LEGISLATION THE SUPREME COURT JUST SIGNED INTO LAW!!! No comments on it, nothing.... We need this trail, that few people will use, and she is asking the President to reconsider it, but she doesn't seem to care if we lose our property and houses? Perhaps, they will need to steal someone's land to make this trail!

Interesting, Patty Murray should have "salmon" in the list of issues to write about but no "property rights." Or not. We are in a liberal state, and she is a liberal legislotor. Anyway, I wrote to her, too, with my concerns. I pray all of you write!
