Visions: Your Secret Conversation With God

THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION

10 I want to look first at what the spirit of wisdom is all about. What is this spirit of wisdom? I was fascinated when I looked up the Greek word for wisdom in the Thayers definition and this is what I found: "The act of interpreting dreams and always giving the sagest advice; the intelligence evinced in discovering the meaning of some mysterious number of vision."
11 I then went on to look at what revelation stood for. The Strong's definition there was, "Disclosure of truth." So the spirit of wisdom and revelation is the ability, by the Spirit of God, to know and understand dreams and visions and to receive for yourself, the understand of the spiritual realm. This passage was written to the church of the Ephesians. It was not written just to those standing in ministry Offices. This was written to the entire Body of Christ, the entire member Body right down to the smallest toe.
12 Paul was not picking out select individuals and saying, "Well, I pray that you, John ..." "I pray that you, James ..." "I pray that you, Theresa, would have the spirit of wisdom." He was addressing this to the entire church. He was not addressing this to individuals. He was saying that they would all have spirit of wisdom and revelation. If you are a born again believer, you have within you the spirit of wisdom and revelation.
13 It says after that, ..." in the knowledge of Him ..." Who is "Him"? Him is Jesus Christ. ..." in the knowledge of Christ." I looked up knowledge and Strong's gave me: "To become fully acquainted with." So to be in the knowledge of Him means to become fully acquainted with Him. So not only do you have the capacity within you right now, today, wherever you stand, to receive wisdom from the Spirit and to receive revelation, but you have been granted the divine gift to become personally acquainted with the Lord of Hosts, King of Kings and majesty. You, little nobody, have the gift of becoming acquainted with and rubbing shoulders with, knowing personally and intimately, the Lord of Lords.
14 You do not get bigger connections in the world than that! Not just anybody can stand up and say, "Hey, I know God intimately. We chat. I'll give Him your number." Are you that bold as a child of God to say that? I am. And I tell you what, people are so taken aback that they listen.
15 "I know God. You mess with me, you mess with Him. I just want you to know that as we sign this business deal." You had better be sure that they will check the small print. They are not going to get themselves into trouble, because even unbelievers think, "Well, what if ... just in case they know God, I'd better watch it with these people." It works. Are you bold enough to say that? You should be bold enough to say that, because according to the Word you have within you the ability to get personally acquainted with the living God who made the entire creation.

VISIONS - THE SIGHT OF YOUR MIND

17 Verse 18 goes on to say:
18 Ephesians 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened "
19 What are the eyes of your understanding? I looked up eyes and the literal translation is sight. I was fascinated by what understanding stood for. It means figuratively, the thoughts or feelings of your mind or the heart. Have you ever read Scripture where it speaks about the heart, and the feelings of the heart? It is speaking about your mind. The eyes of your understanding means the sight of your mind.
20 That sounds a bit like a vision to me. That sounds to me like you can see into the spiritual realm and know with your mind what is going on. The "sight of your mind" means to be able to receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in your mind and for it to be enlightened so that you can know what it is that the Lord is saying to you at this time.
21 The Lord has a will and a purpose for you. The Lord of Hosts, the King of Kings, desires passionately to have a relationship with you. And according to His Word, it is not only your free gift of salvation, but it is also your right as a Christian being born into the Body of Christ. You can know His will for your present-day circumstance, and you can become fully acquainted with the living God. And then you can act on the knowledge of His will and have success in your life from day to day.
22 In this chapter, I will just be discussing visions, but there are very many ways that you can receive revelation from the spiritual realm and from your spirit. I am just touching on one area, because if I had to cover them all it would take too long.
ANY BELIEVER CAN RECEIVE
24 So to summarize, who can have a vision? Only those great men and women of God who stand behind the pulpits and appear on TBN? Are they the only ones who can have a vision? Do you have to be super-spiritual and go into a trance and perhaps be taken off to another land like John on the Isle of Patmos before you will be good enough for the Lord to give you a vision?
25 No. You just have to be born again by the Spirit of Christ to receive revelation from the Spirit of God. You have within you the Holy Spirit, the well of living water, that springs eternally and gives eternal life and is constantly bubbling within your belly.
26 If you could just learn to tap into that, there is a wealth of revelation and wisdom for you to tap into anytime for any situation, for any need, for any desire, for any pain, loneliness or direction. It is there for you to receive here and now. And as I go through step by step on how you can tap into that inner resource I want you to open up and receive by faith that spirit of revelation, because it is yours by the Word of God. And if you will open your heart to it, by the end of this message you will indeed have received those gifts of revelation and you will be able to hear from the Lord for yourself.

2. What do you need to ask someone who has brought you their vision to interpret?
3. What is the difference between the internal and the external vision?

EXERCISE: Vision Example
Below is an example of a real vision and its interpretation. Identify the specifics, then write your interpretation of the vision. Remember to dig into the Word for your answers! View my interpretation afterwards.

"Two Belly Buttons"
The other night while I was praying in the spirit (tongues), I had a vision of a pregnant woman (7 to 9 months) who had 2 belly buttons! I was not praying with regards to anything specific - just general prayer.
Write down the following:
a) Vision Category:
b) Discerning spirit - Positive/Negative:
c) Characters:
d) Types and objects:
e) Interpretation:

PRACTICAL PROJECT: External Visions

As you learn to hear from the Lord for yourself, you will come to realize how you receive revelation quicker on behalf of others! In this project I want to encourage you to use what the Lord has given you on behalf of others!
1. Come to the Lord and bring either your local congregation, family or ministry associations before Him.
2. Pray as you are lead. If you feel a negative impression in your spirit, then do not progress, but if you feel a positive impression, go ahead (almost like an excitement - this is a sign you are praying in the right direction).
3. As you bring this group before the Lord note any pictures that come to your mind.
4. Then take those pictures and search the Word for explanations to the objects you see. Use the following points to identify and interpret the visions the Lord has given you...

Thank you for sharing this very informative article. This generation is goblin up spiritual book/movie like harry potter. What a privilage to be able to offer them the true Holy SPIRIT.

Wouldn't if be fantastic to hear this statement repeated in our schools, offices, and malls by the people of our generation!!!

Yes, a new Harry Potter book just came out. They were discussing it at work. One girl has already read 3/4 of it! I saw big stacks of books at Costco. Guess who? Harry Potter! I wish the kids would be reading the Bible as much as Harry! This lady is making millions (billions?) from these books. Those who read them say the movies aren't as good.... etc. Well, I was just thinking (as a writer) I wish I could write a Christian book with such a big impact! And, if it was made into a movie, I wouldn't let them change it.... I guess the end time books by Tim LeHaye and Jerry Jenkins are making an impact. Hallelujah, for that! Just what IS the big deal about Harry Potter? If this is the role model for kids -- well, you can see America is headed for trouble if it glorifies witchcraft. We need help in this country!

When Mark Chironna discovered his prophetic gift, he thought it was psychic! He had come from an occult background. The men of God who were there explained to him the gift of prophecy.

What's so cool about this article is: it says I can learn how to interpret my own dreams, rahter than posting them up here for others to interpret. God sent me a doozy! I just am not sure what the message is.... So, this article reminded me that I can pray for God to open my understanding and give me insight. I had just bumped up one of my dreams, hopeful for interpretation, but according to this, God can help ME find the meaning.

Hey Jerina! Your insights are awesome. I totally disapprove of Harry Potter. There shoud be more Christian Entertainment. I love the Left Behind series by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins! I've read all 12. End Times Entertainment rules! I will have to get the Rising soon. I have been buying other types of Christian books including those on couples relationships as well as Heartsong Christian Romance Novels! Being in love with an awesome Christian man will do that to you. Keep up the good posting Jerina. God Bless You Sister!

Hello Again,

(COPY) "well, you can see America is headed for trouble if it glorifies witchcraft. We need help in this country!" Amen!, sister. I totally agree. God is going to move powerfully on this generation and the enemy is not quitting without a fight. I can relate to Mark thinking he was pychic. My Pastor lovingly warned me of witchcraft,over 20 years ago, after sharing a vision that left me trembling. Our paths went different directions for a few years because of a job transfer. The first time I saw him again preaching, God had birthed the message of the vision in His heart. He told me how much God had grown him in the Holy Spirit. Now He is the one that ministers prophetically. I love him dearly.
My Kids and Husband came home from the theater excited about the new release of C.L. LEWIS book; THE Lion,the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
It is exciting to think of the creativity God gave his men, C.S. LEWIS, that is still impacting people today. Keep us up to dated on YOUR book release!!

Lord God, teach me of this. Open my understanding. Send me the gift of interpreting dreams. Send me words of knowledge and prophecy. Tell me of the future. Let me understand the deep things of the Spirit. Speak to me, Holy Spirit, the secrets of God's heart. I want to move in all these gifts. I want to wake up and know what You were trying to tell me in my dreams. I thank You for those You have explained, personally, to me. Some dreams, I asked for the meaning, and You just told me, in my spirit what it meant. For that I thank You. I can not say I have never known the meaning of my dreams, for I think of two dreams recently that I asked You about, and You explained to me what they meant. Let this happen more and more. The dream I posted on here is one I really want the answer, too. It is a mystery. It seems kind of obvious, yet I know I am missing something.... Give me details. Speak to my spirit what it means. Tell me of the meanings of my future dreams. I thank You that You have hidden these things from the wise and shown them to babes.... Show me, Lord. In Jesus Name, amen.
