Hello everyone,

I have a puzzling question about Greek Mythology. Maybe the Lord is convicting me I don't know but I have to ask and obey His leading of the Holy Spirit. I have a collection of Greek mythology statues. In fact, the goddess Diana, The birth of venus, and I believe Aphrodite as well. Beautiful statues that I have collected and have been fascintated by their look for many years. Don't misunderstand, not what they represent but by the elegance of appearance. In any case, I have read "Unbroken Curses" by Rebecca Brown and in her book there are many ways satan hides and there are curses attached to the object where we need to get rid of. Moreover, Exodus 20:13, 14 in the bible it lucidly explains about idols. However, I am not sure if all this applies to Greek mythology statues. Aren't they make believe? Anyway, I am not too familiar of the background since I only have a liking to their elegant look. I only have knowledge of them being gods and goddesses and that along is an insult to the Lord. I'm not sure whether I should just break them, literally, or anoint them with oil. PLease if anyone has any knowledge of this I ask you to share. I want to be obedient to the Lord.

Thank you and God bless all,

Illuminate

Illuminate-

Greek mythology was real to the Grecians. they believed in all the various gods they worshiped, which is why thet had statues of them all over their major cities. Now, if there ever were any miracles wrought by these so called gods, it was satan or his demons doing them.

Secondly- Yes, satan and his demons are able to operate thru ovjects much easier that are associated with the practices they teach followers to believe in and use. You will find many people bringing about false miracles of healing, restorations and more thru objects such as crystals, mixtures of herbs with prayers- (chants), praying to specific false gods for particular types of deliverances, miracles, answers to prayers.

tho Christianity uses a cross as a symbol, and many times a cross with a statue of Christ hanging on it, God declares we are not to make any graven images unto anything in heaven, on earth or in the sea.

thus, you'll find where the imitation of God, will be these statues, crystals and alot of other stuff I could name. I personally would not have anything in my dwelling place that has connections to false gods or thier worship or representation. I've seen what can happen with doors like that sitting there, waiting to be opened for trouble.

Something to think about, ok? God Bless!!

Hello Christian Commando,
Thank you for your prompt and genuine response as always. I have taken every bit of information provided into great consideration along with some research I have done on my own. Moreover, I have also spoken to Pastor Weber and he directed me to the Book of Acts where it lucidly explains how there was a temple for goddess Diana where she was worshipped. I felt I was breaking one of the commandments already by using God's name in vain as well as have an idle in my home. Of course as I have mentioned before, I only liked these statues for the elegance of them. However, this morning I opted to destroy all my Greek goddess statues with a hammer. I rebuked and binded all demons that came attached with the statues in the name of Jesus. I only pray that some demons that have been tormenting some family members have left for good, in Jesus name.

Thank you so much and God bless,

Illuminate

PS:
I only wish to serve the Lord with obedience...

How about the 10 commandments which say "You shall have no other gods before me"?

It goes on to clarify that you are to have no other image or pagan item of worship in your home.

Let me just ask you this question: Are you willing to get rid of these statues freely and with no remorse?

If yes, then do so and do not look back, they held no sway over your life.

If no, then you are valuing them above God and they do indeed hold sway over your life.

Why would want you have images of pagan gods in your home anyway.

I believe you took the correct action, Illuminate!

Well done, good and faithful servant!

I like your nick. Does it mean something specific?

Awesome! I love it when I open these threads and the works already done! I love to see this kind of growth in Christian's lives.

Now, how about the other gods some of us have before Him? TV, shopping, interent, work, food ( !!!), lesiure, stuff (again, !!!), The Almighty $, fun, movies, etc. and so on.... Get my drift? Sorry for meddling.

I'm convicted.... but how soon am I going to give up the things I am putting before God in my life?

You know, if I watch a movie where the couple has sex outside of marriage.... I have just put that above God, because His Word says that is a sin. I am to cast down every high thing exalted against God, not parade before me things contrary to His Word.

JeriRose-

I wouldn't exactly claim you had put that scene of fornication ahead of God. After all, if we were to say that, then you must have watched the movie only to see that part.

We could say that we put the mild violence or other necessary minor elements of a negative nature in a christian movie ahead of god too then in that situation.

No... God looks at the moral reasoning for the value of what we consider important in our lives or at any given moment. Like watching a movie called "Fury to Freedom" about a young man's struggle as unsaved to become a tremendous christian minister out in California for God.

We would be putting his lusts as unsaved ahead of God for ourselves then, if we weren't watching it for God's true reason's for sharing this incredible testimony of His love and compassion for us. (If that were the case).

But, it's individual reasoning that proves where our heart is for viewing particular movies.

The good purity of God can be felt and experienced as easily thru particular movies as satan's dark evil can in other ones. (As both have been proven thru documentations).

God bless!!

Praise God. Illuminate sounds like God had you looking for the truth and it set you free I bet you felt such relief from bondage and I have to say something here. Idols can be well meant objects. God just conviced me of one handing around my house. Simple little sun visor angel my aunt gave me for protection when we traveled to Washington state from GA for the first time back in Dec. 2000. Some may not understand that but could it be that I looked to an angel for protection? Well, although Christ sends them we are to seek him first and then he sends his angels to protect us but they are doing Christ bidding and are not to be worshipped. Thanks for the question look how months later it frees someone else. Bobbie

Greek mythology is very real. Being that in my past sinful life I delved in believing them I found that they were very real and had a very real power over those who have statues of them.

I know they are very beautiful and precious to you, but did not God command us to NOT have any false Gods before him. My suggestion to you is to get rid of the statues.

along this line could fallen angels.possibly be the myths in ancient time. the wizards of the dark ages..etc.???? something i have thought about quite for some time....has for has should you keep a statue? God knows Your heart and the intent of there of. if you value the artistic value or if they are idols of worship. He see's the intent >

I know that from past experience with demons that they are not myths in ancient time or the wizards of the dark ages. They are in reality angels who have went against the law of GOD our Father. They are very real. Something NOT to play with...
