What are these verses really telling you? Stand in the gap for them means myself? What is pricipalities and powers? What is bucklers, chains, and fetters? I want to be able to understand this prayer completely. I do believe it is a good prayer for the salvation of someone you love but I just want to understand it totally. I know I may sound stupid but I just want to know exactly what to do to pray a powerful prayer for my husband's salvation.

joann04-
No young lady, you are not stupid. It actually shows you are intelligent, in seeking the Truth, of which many people laugh at, make fun of or just plain refuse to listen to or believe.
Thank you and God Bless you for your sincere interest in understanding the Truth. On to your questions-
1- "stand in the gap"? Yes, that means you. Be it in prayer or other ways for people by your pettitions and actions for others to God.
2- In this instance, bucklers, chains and fetters refer to restraints, addictions, or simpler said, anything that has unnatural control over your mind, heart or body that convinces you to go against God.
The Apostle Paul states it quite well, in stating he worked to keep his mind and body under subjection, to avoid getting involved in worldly thinking and operating to avoid losing all the things he had stored up with God in Heaven.
The biggest thing, is to be praying for the bonds of satan to be broken over another, where they keep them from seeing and understanding God's Truth, so they can finally see and understand, to be touched by the Holy Spirit for realizing where they are, but need to go from there- (Towards God and His Salvation thru Christ Jesus).
I pray this helps. You might look up whats known as power Scriptures for helping to seek God's breaking of bonds over people and to seek Salvation. After all, the blind and ignorant cannot see or understand, until the scales are removed or the wall of deception is torn away or broken thru.
God Bless!!

Dear Joann,
I just wanted to say that the Lord already knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts even before we pray. How ever weak we may feel that our words are, he knows how great our heart and our desires are and rewards those prayers. I don't think on the other hand that prayers that are extemely articulate that are said with little thought and intent will bring the same results as the former. The Lord told us to be as a little child and such is the kingdom of heaven. If we are trusting and believing when we pray, as a little child, I think those are some of the greatest prayers we can say. There is also a scripture that talks about that the spirit will move us what words we should say when we pray and we will be praying in accordance with his mind and will. Anyway just a few thoughts to share.
God bless,
Bonnie
