David sometimes prays stuff in the psalms where he asks God to smash his enemies or to smash their teeth in. I wonder is this "okay"? I mean was this also divine inspiration or was this David's own opinion?
Because in the house meeting today we talked about this and the leader said that because David was a man after God's heart and he did not pray blessing upon his enemies we also do not have to do this and that we can pray honestly and if we are angry at our enemies then we can pray like David and ask God to smash their teeth in!?!
And I asked myself is this really correct? Jesus said bless your enemies.
I don't understand this. Was David wrong when he prayed to God to smash his enemies? If he was wrong then the psalms cannot be seen as divinely inspired. (?)

i belive the reason David was man after Gods own heart was because he was so open with God. But David was not all that and a bag of chips in life we sometime feel the persure of are own choices in areas of are life do we feel like praying bless over are enemies cause i personal dont lot of time ithink that what paul was saying are will is always present with us the LORD WE CAN BE mad but dont sin in ur madnes.david was express his feeling toward God what he was feeling as we all do if u are a child of God the Holy Spirit will talk to u about what in your haert and the next thing ur praying bless over the one who wrong u as David did be in the spirit 247
be Bless servant

But I still dont know wether this means that it's okay for a christian to pray revenge or judgement upon his enemies just because David did this.

Jesus said that we are to pray for our enemies and those who do us harm. It is his commandment to us to love our neighbor as well as Love God.

Does this mean David prayed wrong?
But this cannot be, can it? Cause if the bible is 100% correct and 100% inspired then how could David pray something wrong?

Dear Friend-
Remember, back in Old Test. days, God had them dealing with a much less civilized people who were more akin to violence. God could see the civilizing would change us, hence the reason for the New Covenant. Besides the fact, God is a God of love, not violence.
It has been man's heart and minds, as seen in Noah's day, to think mostly violent and against God.
David's heart was seeking for God's help in deliverance of his people from the turmoil of the enemy. You'll also find in other Old Test. Books, this is why God speaks of the judgements He would bring against His children's enemies. Some were quite violent if you'll notice.
Yet, in this dispensation, we find a gentler God, striving to help man getting tired of waring, helping him to seek a quieter more peaceful existance.
So yes, they were inspirations of god to David for seeking God's, not David's own retaliation for his people's sufferings.
God Bless!!

But today we shouldn't pray judgement upon our enemies, should we?

Thats correct. We should be quicker to forgive than to judge. After all, God have us convicted stearnly if we are stearn with others unnecessarily.
God Bless!!

Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you
Matthew 5:44 (Amplified Bible)44But I tell you, cLove is Gods gift to us. We obey God when we gift enemies with the Love of God. 1 John 3 Chap. We are liars if we say we love God and arrange, blueprint, calculate, chart, design, frame, lay out, map (out), project, schematize, scheme (out), conspire, intrigue, machinate; draft, outline, sketch; aim, figure, intend, mean; contemplate, meditate, premeditate to do retaliate and pay evil for evil. We do not bless our enemies because it is right. We bless our enemy because it is Christ-like. It is Christ commandment. Love your enemy. It is also Gods strategy for drawing your enemy to God John 3:16.
It is Christ command to bless our enemy
Bless=eujlogevw/Eulogeoto praise, celebrate with praises ,to invoke blessings , to consecrate a thing with solemn prayers .to ask God's blessing on a thing, to ask God's blessing on a thing, pronounce a consecratory blessing on , pray God to bless it to one's use , to cause to prosper, to make happy, to bestow blessings on , favoured of God, blessed

Well, lets be clear on one thing here now. Keep in mind, you cannot do right before man, if not right in the sight of God first. When you speak of what is right, that should be clarified. For- what is right before man, may not be right before God.
You cannot work to become more- "Christ-like", if not showing your thinking and actions being right before God first. (Inline with His Word).
Lets keep this on a calm note, for while it is a Commandment of Christ to love those who hate you, Bless those who despise you etc, just remember the battle we fight daily between the carnal and spiritual natures all God's children must deal with our whole lives from the moment of rebirth in God thru Christ.
It takes alot of work, time and adjustment to change to doing that. God Bless!!

Does this mean that we should for example love muslim terrorists?
Posted by: Christian Commando
Dear Brother in Christ-
One of the reasons there is so much division between people is, they do not understand the things of the Spirit. Or simpler said, the battle in not flesh against flesh, but spirit against spirit. It is of the spiritual level- principalities of darkness, evil, that we wrestle against.
People- flesh, we do not fight against, as we are all equally born in sin. Satan and his demons fight against God and His Angels thru people. Satan looks to dethrone god, by killing, stealing and destroying one of God's most precious creations- "man".
So yes, we should love Muslim terrorists, but hate the evil that is influencing them to believe, live and follow false beliefs as they do. Take that religious belief away from them and they would be no different than any other unsaved person.
God Bless!!
