Dear Jerena,
John Roberts is now confirmed as the 17th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
This is exactly the outcome that the ACLJ has worked and prayed for since President Bush announced his stellar nominee several weeks ago.
(Thank you to all of our ACLJ members who stood by us in this critically important battle with your prayers and support - this is your victory!)
We remain confident that Chief Justice Roberts is the right man to lead the Supreme Court through the myriad of turbulent social issues that will face the court this term - including abortion.
He is a man of high moral character. He brings a deep respect and a clear understanding of the Constitution and the rule of law to the high court.
The strong bi-partisan vote in the Senate confirming John Roberts shows that he exemplifies the judicial philosophy embraced by most Americans - a mainstream philosophy that focuses on upholding the Constitution, not legislating from the bench.
We now turn our attention and efforts to the President's next nominee to replace retiring Justice O'Connor. This is a crucial seat to fill, and we will stay on top of this important battle to the end.
We will continue to update you as events unfold regarding this second Supreme Court fight - and all of our important cases across the nation.

Remember what a tough time Bush had getting ANY nominees voted on last time? Truly the increase in prayer this time has made a HUGE difference!

Lord, I thank You for this awesome miracle! The Supreme Court of America with a man of faith at the head of it! Something that will shape America for years! This is a HUGE miracle!
I ask that Harriet Miers may be confirmed as well, and I thank You in advance for this miracle!
