God paid a price for us, but to whom?

Did he pay a price to Satan? I mean did Jesus have to die in order for Satan to give back his legal rights on us? 
I always thought that Satan had nothing to do with it and that God also didn't care about Satan at all and that Jesus only died to fulfill God's law, I mean that Jesus only had to bear God's anger over our sins. But I just read a book and the author says that Jesus paid a price to Satan.
To get back the rights which Satan had on us.

Jesus Christ came to fulfill all rightceousness, which includes the "Law of the Prophets", God's Law and the attonement for our sin.
No, Christ did not pay the price to satan, but to God, for sin. In such a way, God was able to take the keys of death and Hell from satan, which man gave him when first sinned, to return them to God thru Christ.
God granted man his existance and perfection. Thus, when man sinned against God, God then, sacrificed His Son- Jesus Christ, to reclaim His authority over man once again thru that sacrifice.
