501(c)3 information sought ?do i really want it?

just recieved my church charter. i am checking into the requirements for a 501(c)3 i will not have a brick and mortar type church but a concept of home church i am planning (if you are familiar with meals on wheels) i want to start a church where we go to a persons home and have church there (elderly/disabled/disinfranchised/etc) have a weekly fellowship in a persons home and 'yet' all the people will be a member of this church. any information on filling for tax exempt status would be appreciated(i really have not made my mind up on this i may not file for tax exempt so the gov.has no control on me. please if any know or have pro's/con on this subject pleas let me know.
