Believing in God before you believe in Jesus

If a person believes there is a god but doesn't directly believe in Jesus and later becomes a christian does this mean that the faith in god which she had before is being replaced by the faith in Jesus? I mean there are many people which believe in a god but aren't christians. What kind of faith do they have? Is this a wrong faith?
But I also believed in God and wasn't a christian, I also didn't really think much about it. What if my faith which I have today is based on the other faith? Before you became a christian were you a strict atheist?

Well, first my friend, you have to believe in God, before you can believe in Jesus Christ. How else is a person to believe God is a Trinity and was Christ in human flesh?
It can happen any of 3 ways, a teaching can be heard of god's Word for general living, to believe in god the Father first and later learn of the Trinity and our faith in Christ as Lord and Savior.
Or... a person can hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ first as Lord and Savior, then learn other points later.
Or... you can hear of miracles done of God, by the Holy Spirit or witness them, thru other Children of God.
But... realize, man can produce, as mentioned in another thread of yours, a certain kind of faith of his own. It takes the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit to help us understand the spiritual level of being lost to God.
So no, it wouldn't be the same faith. There are millions, maybe billions of people around the globe who have a faith in a god, but the real Godly faith, over and above man produced, comes from the Holy Spirit to understand the real Truth of our living statis and future to come.
In all essence, our faith-man produced is not really replaced, but actually added unto. Example- Man already has the ability to understand and figure out the dinamics of our world. Yet, until we recieve enlightenment from the Holy Spirit at Salvation, can we understand more, what lies beyond the physical into the spiritual.
That why, when many spiritual things happen these days, secular man leans more towards something physical that caused it, even tho it goes beyond normal limitations we know exist here.
God bless!!

I just ask myself why did I already before I became a christian believe that there is a God? Was this cause I am naive or maybe cause I wanted a God to exist cause this would mean that there is life after death?
And can God already change and work on a person which is not yet born again?

Look what God with me alone. He spent from my age 16 to 20 years old, learning wether God was real and His word true or not. I spent those first years just reading, studying and researching that.
For years before that, I was a thorough athiest no one could prove God was real or His Word true, until that fateful day God had me meet the one who God used to change my life forever.
So, yes, God can work on people when still unsaved.
God Bless!!
