What would you do

I have been visiting a Church for some months now. It is a nice little place with loving people. I keep waiting for the move of the Holy Spirit. The Pastor always apologizes after going 10 minutes over the 2 hours. I feel as though God is put in a box.

Yesterday I asked him if I could give a praise report. He said he would see what time was like after the sermon. I said what ever the Lord wants. I was very excited to tell about what the Lord has done for us. After his message which by the way had 2 confirming words he spoke of a bowling party the church was to have and voting. No mention of anyone needing prayer or having anything they might want to say. I was a bit disappointed.

What would any one have to offer on this.

Thank you

Diney

Maybe this isn't where you are suppose to be. Just keep praying about it. Sometimes we think we know where we are suppose to be but we don't only God does. Give God time he will tell you where you are to be and it is usually little things like not feeling the holy spirit working and not giving praise and prayer for those who need it. Sounds really like your job is to pray for this congregation to get a hold of God and for you to move on.

Find a church where Gods spirit is alive and well.
I like Assembly of God or any other charismatic church

I think I heard I am supposed to pray for them to have a revelation of what God wants to do in their midst. I am somewhat jaded in my opinion due to the fact I have been a part of a church that did allow the move of the Holy Spirit.

I did leave this Church because a spirit of control was causing so much strife in our lives.

I do pray for that part of the body of Christ and I ask the Lord to bless the works they do in Him.

I am somewhat a coward when it comes to talking face to face with the head of a church. I feel the need to explain myself if I leave. When I would talk with the pastor of the previous Church if I had any input that was in anyway negative I would be pronounced as having a spirit of this or that. I don't feel I have any spirit that would cause me to be critical. I pray I don't. However my flesh does rise up on occasion. I thank the Lord for discernment. Deception is however the thing that causes us not to be able to see.

I pray for His guidance and revelation of what He wants me to do.

I agree I must find one such as this.

Could this church ever come to this?

I pray God's will and purpose to be reveiled to them.

It really depends on whether the Lord is releasing you from this church. I know of a couple that remained in a church for 9 years waiting, praying, believing the Lord was going to move. They are much stronger today because of it.

What should always be the guiding light of your path is God's plan for you. Do not let what people say be that. Let God lead you as He wants, wether it is to stay or leave this Church. You may be an instrument or part of one that brings alive God's Spirit to that Church.

Be in prayer and seeking God's will for you in this. He will open what He wants for you according to His will for you as such.

God Bless!!

Christian Commando is exactly right. I said maybe in my first post. But make sure you pray for God to release you if it is time to move on. Joyce Meyer says in one of her teachings that she was told to leave a church once and stayed longer than God wanted to and it caused her much grief. Anyway, wheteher you are to stay or leave the biggest thing is to be in God's will. Bobbie

Our church loves when people offer to give testimony! Testimony is done BEFORE the sermon. GA5966 is right; maybe this isn't where you are supposed to be. But before you turn in your choir robe, give it a few more Sundays. If you keep getting put off, then you may need to move on. A 2 hour service should have time for a praise report. Our service is an hour long and we have time for testimony and sometimes "special music" where someone sings a solo. It's pretty cool because it makes me feel connected when I'm asked to give testimony.

God must be alive and well sending His Spirit over the "Body" in any Church. If not, people are not seeking God as they should, thus, sometimes it takes others to bring this "Life of God's Spirit" back into a Church. Thats why we each must be inline with what God has planned for us, that He can use us as needed to revive the "Body of Christ".

God Bless!!

Thanks to all for the input. I have not ever officially joined this Church. And I have not been officially released from the Church I once belonged. I don't think I will ever go back. I will pray over the whole situation.

I do agree that there are those who are used to supply different things in a Church. I haven't hung up my choir robe yet. I do admit my flesh gets in the way at times.

After my last experience I have trouble with sensing the spirit behind what is happening. I don't want a critical spirit on me. I do plead the blood of Christ over my body, mind and spirit.

I have to say I try very hard not to compare. I learned so much about the move of the Holy Spirit in my past Church. I don't expect every Church to move in the same manner. When I am in the midst of worship and praise I expect someone to be activated in the gifts and I become a little anxious when I don't see it in anyone except the Pastor. Or maybe there is a time he will ask a certain one to pray over certain things; i.e. the offering or someone in need of prayer, ( this doesn't happen much). You see I am watching and maybe too much.

I try very hard to let go and let God. If he wants me to continue to go for a while I definitely will. I was out of Church for over 4 years. My husband is very ccritical and he keeps saying he is not ready to go. He does not trust any man..

Please keep us in prayer!. Thank the Lord for this site.
