Prophetic Revelations
The difference between a vision and a dream is
In (Numbers 12:6-8) we have an exhaustive division of the different ways in which the prophetic revelations were thus made of God are made to man. - Direct declaration and manifestation: "I will speak mouth to mouth, apparently, and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold."
- Vision. , mode of revelation , mirror , lookingglasses, see, observe, or perceive, to look at or to see.
- Dreamstate of dream and of trance or ecstasy, sleep

I've heard it said that visions are God's desires for other people through you.
I guess, then a dream could concern itself with you, others or just about anyone.

A. Dreams are like parables of the night. Jesus spoke in many parables. Why would a God who is infinitely more intelligent than we be limited to some persons literal language? Do not these dreams/parables of the night cause us to seek out him and the interpretation? I also believe we are so busy living our daily lives, we "miss-it" when the Lord tries to speak to us in other ways.
JOB 33:14 For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed
