Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin, founder of international ministries dies
By KELLY KURT Associated Press
9/19/2003 11:06:00 AM

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin, who started preaching at age 17 and grew his congregation into an international ministry, died Friday morning at age 86.

Hagin had been hospitalized in a cardiac intensive care unit since Sunday, when he collapsed at home. He died at 7 a.m., a spokesman said.

An exact cause of death was not immediately known.

Hagin's ministry included Rhema Bible Training Centers in 14 nations and Rhema churches in more than 110 countries. The Rhema Bible Church in Broken Arrow, where his ministry was based, has 8,000 members.

His ministry began when he said God miraculously healed him of a deformed heart and incurable blood disease.

"He wrote in his Bible, 'The Bible says it, I believe it and that settles it!' " said his son, the Rev. Kenneth Hagin Jr., the pastor at Rhema Bible Church and executive vice president of Kenneth Hagin Ministries.

"He preached what he lived," the younger Hagin said. "His great legacy of faith will live on in the countless lives that have been healed, touched and changed through his ministry."

Hagin's ministry was part of a nationwide healing revival in the 1950s and '60s. A native of McKinney, Texas, he moved to the Tulsa area in 1966.

He founded Rhema Bible Training Center USA in 1974, and it now has 23,000 alumni.

From the start, he used the media of the day to reach his parishioners.

His Faith Library Publications has more than 65 million books in print. The ministry has a weekly television program called "Rhema Praise" and a radio program, "Faith Seminar of the Air," which also appears on the Internet.

In 1979, he founded the Rhema Prayer and Healing Center to provide a place for the sick to come and build their faith.

He was known for his preaching and teachings on faith.

"Our lives personally were changed by hearing him speak and reading his books," the Revs. Billy Joe and Sharon Daugherty, pastors at Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, said in a statement.

Hagin went to bed Saturday feeling well, according to a news release from his ministry. He sat at the breakfast table Sunday morning, smiled at his wife, Oretha, and then sighed. His head fell to his chest.

Along with his wife and son, Hagin is survived by his daughter, Pat Harrison, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements had not been announced.

Kenneth E. Hagin, world-renowned minister and author, dies after nearly 70 years in ministry

Broken Arrow, OK – September 19, 2003 – Reverend Kenneth E. Hagin, founder of Kenneth Hagin Ministries, went home to be with the Lord on September 19 at 7:00 a.m.

Details regarding funeral arrangements will be posted at www.rhema*****/update, or for more information, call (918) 258-1588, Ext. 2238, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to Kenneth Hagin Ministries, P.O. Box 50126, Tulsa, OK 74150.

On Saturday evening September 13, Reverend Hagin went to bed feeling well. Sunday morning, he woke up and prepared for the day. Friends came over and cooked breakfast for he and his wife, Oretha. After finishing his breakfast, Rev. Hagin sat at the end of the table, smiled at Oretha, sighed, and his head fell to his chest.

He was quickly transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit. He remained hospitalized with his family at his side until the time of his passing.

Rev. Hagin was born August 20, 1917 and was in the ministry for nearly 70 years from the time God miraculously healed him of a deformed heart and an incurable blood disease at the age of 17. He was raised from a deathbed in 1934 by the revelation of faith in God’s Word.

Known as the “father of the modern faith movement,” Rev. Hagin was a dynamic preacher, teacher, and prophet known for ministering healing and for the message of faith. His teachings and books are filled with vivid stories that show God’s power and truth working in his life and the lives of others.

“He wrote in his Bible, ‘The Bible says it, I believe it, and that settles it!’” said his son, Reverend Kenneth Hagin Jr., Executive Vice President of Kenneth Hagin Ministries and Pastor of RHEMA Bible Church. “Brother Hagin was not a man who merely practiced what he preached,” said Rev. Hagin Jr. “He preached what he lived. His great legacy of faith will live on in the countless lives that have been healed, touched, and changed through his ministry.”

Since its inception, Kenneth Hagin Ministries has expanded to include numerous media outreaches and ministries that will continue to grow and impact the world. These include Faith Library Publications, which has more than 65 million books in print; RHEMA Praise, a weekly television program; Faith Seminar of the Air, a radio program which is heard on scores of stations nationwide and on the Internet worldwide; The Word of Faith, a free monthly magazine with nearly 250,000 subscribers; crusades conducted throughout the nation; RHEMA Correspondence Bible School; and the RHEMA Prayer and Healing Center.

Rev. Hagin long carried a passion to help those who suffered in pain and sickness the way he himself had once suffered. In 1979, he founded the Prayer and Healing Center to provide a place where the sick could come and have the opportunity to build their faith. Healing School continues to be held free of charge twice daily on the RHEMA campus.

In 1974, Rev. Hagin founded RHEMA Bible Training Center USA, which has 23,000 alumni. There are RHEMA Bible Training Centers in 13 other nations of the world: Austria, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Romania, Samoa, Singapore, South Africa, and Thailand.

“Brother Hagin traveled and ministered throughout the United States and Canada as part of his goal to raise funds to underwrite the Training Center. The best tribute we can give him is to keep that going forever,” said Rev. Hagin Jr.

Rev. Hagin is survived by his wife, Oretha; two children, Kenneth Hagin Jr. and Pat Harrison; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Father,
I rejoice with Dad Hagin. I thank You for the wonderful, full, rich life that he led. Thank you for inspiring him to bless others. I was inspired by MANY of his writings and teachings. Father, give peace to everyone that loved him. Remind them that he is home now. God, thank you for blessing us with followers like Dad Hagin. It is sad that he could be with us in this life no longer, but I thank You that he has left some of himself behind. In everyone that he taught, discipled, loved, inspired...there will always be a part of him that will remain. EVEN in those that we inspire, teach, love and disciple...there will always be some of Dad Hagin left in this world. God, I thank You for the lasting legacy that Dad Hagin has left behind with us. I praise You that he is with You, even now. God, help us each and every one be as faithful and obedient to Your will. Help us all to walk in our calls. May we each be blessed to leave behind a lasting legacy of YOUR love, mercy, and grace, as did your servant Dad Hagin. We love you Lord. In Jesus' name...AMEN!!

I have been having difficulty navigating this site, I keep going around in circles, but by patience from God, I found a way to post my prayer. As someone who has moved around a lot and has a hard time finding a home church and reaching out to people, I have often turned to tv church as a way to hear God's message - and Rhema Praise has been one of my staples. For over 5 years I have tuned in regularly and have been blessed by the teachings of Kenneth Hagin, Jr. I have never heard his dad, but I have heard the son mention his dad quite often and very fondly. I pray for their family right now, that even though their Dad isn't with them in person, they know that a time is coming that they will all be together again. I pray that they rejoice in knowing their dad is in the presence of His Lord - what a celebration it must be! I am sure the angels have danced and Dad Hagin has heard the words "Well done" - I have been blessed because of him, and I thank God for that.

Lord Jesus, thank you so much for bringing this wonderful man dad Hagin into the world. He has blessed thousands with the truth of Your love and Your gospel Lord and now we are rejoycing that he is sitting at Your throne today. His blessings to others will continue on through the ministry he started and served and we pray that he is being blessed still while he awaits your second coming. I pray Lord you will bring comfort and peace to his family and friends now in their time of loss. In Jesus' precious name I pray Amen.

Back in 1997 I was going through a very rough divorce, I started buying Dad Haggins books on Faith, had it not have been for his encouraging words and scriputes, I would not have made it through my divorce. Dad was a very annointed man of God, he will be missed greatly, yet he will always live on. May God be with his family and give them piece the Faith that he taught so well.

Isn't God an interesting God?, I only read about his going home today, but I have two of his most powerful tapes and I listen to them in time of challenges and for some reason I've been listening to them over and over, not knowing he had gone home:
1. El-Shaddai- the God that is more than enough
2. The Greater one in you.
If you can get those tapes they are classics. May God comfort His family.

I just wanted to share a story of a event that happened with Dad Hagin. In 1992 I was a first year student at Rhema, and I was walking to the gym to play basketball, as I approached the door, Poppa Hagin drove up and parked. As he exited the car, I asked him, "How are you?", he replied, "How do you think I should be?" I have used this event to overcome many things in my life. Dad Hagin was an incredible man to learn for, listen to, and especially to be taught the basics of Faith. Faith is based on what we believe, if you believe you are great, then you will be. I hope this can be used and I want to thank you for the chance to share this experience.

I remember as a young baby christian I laid my hands on one of Dad's healing books. I must have worn it our completely.I read over and over again how God raised him from his death bed. His book encouraged me to pray the prayer of faith over many people over my years in ministry. I know there is great rejoicing in Heaven for Dad. I know he heard," well done my good and faithfull servant. Glory to God! I loved him like a father.

Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask You to continue blessing this family with all the anointing they ever had. I thank You for the ministry You have had in this family, and I thank You for letting it continue to minister to our lives. I pray that the anointing that You put on this man will be doubled in His children (all of them). And let Your glory pour down on this world through the vessels that teach in Your Name. I, personally, have felt the anointing of Your presence as You have taught us through the daughter of this great man of God. May she walk fully in her Daddy's shoes and bring honor to Your Name wherever she speaks. We give You glory and honor and blessing forever and ever. Amen.

Bless those who mourn, eternal God,
with the comfort of your love
that they may face each new day with hope
and the certainty that nothing can destroy
the good that has been given. May their memories become joyful,

As you have noticed, this is my first visit to this site. I have been introduced to the Kenneth Haggins books by my brother-in-law, the late Pastor Leroy Grant. Lately, I reflected and reminisced on the faith building word that I received as a new born believer in Christ and how much I was blessed thru those books.
I have changed residence twice and cannot find any of the Kenneth Haggins reading materials that so built my faith in God, so I decided to search the net in order to find the source of the books and so share them with my teenage daughters. In so doing, I came across this site.

I haven't seen or read any of these Faith building books in years, and will be grateful if I can be guided as to how to receive the books. They have been a source of strength to me over twenty years ago and so I feel that I need to re-build my faith as well as share them with other believers at our Church which has 'dwindled' somewhat.

Please accept my condolences, late as they are and let me know how I can receive the Faith Building Books (Positive thinking etc). Thak you kindly and may our Father God continue to bless the family.
