The "End of the Spear" movie opens tonight. This is the story of Jim Elliot and four other missionaries who were killed for spreading the Gospel in the eastern rain forest of Ecuador. The lead in on the website, says this was the most violent society ever documented by anthropologists. One of the missionaries sons goes back to the tribe when he is grown up and finds out the story of Mincayani, whose family killed his father when the missionaries were killed. Both of their lives changed when Steve Saint's father, Nate, was killed. Mincayani is now like a member of Steve's family.

Let's lift this up in prayer that it will be a great witness to the lost and the lukewarm and the back slider.

Jesus
Let this movie be a success
so others like it, will be made
spreading the word of your gospel, your salvation
to many in this mass media market
God there is so much objectionable in our theatres
Let this movie pave the way
so we might say
there is so many ways to hear
your message, so many good movies to choose from

Lord God, I pray this movie is successful and that a message is sent to Hollywood.

Further, I pray a message is sent to Christians. So many "Christians" who are so barely commited (luke warm?). This movie will put their feet to the fire! It will make us all question the level of our commitment. Are we willing to die for You? Do we love the unsaved enough to give our lives that they might be saved?

Lord God, let great and awesome things be accomplished because of this movie.

Let some violent people see that the better way is love, that those who live by the sword, die by the sword.... Show the truth to our gangsters and criminals of today. Show them love and forgiveness is so much more powerful than killing.

I pray and ask these things, in Jesus Name, amen.

Amen. Thanks for all that you do through the movies. I know that your mighty hand works in so many things, secular and church, giving peace and guidence and helping whereever the individual's needs are the greatest at that moment in time. Thanks- for this is the greatest comfort - equal and in some ways beyond what people could achieve. Thank you for your great wisdom and knowledge that keeps us safe through your parenting of us. Your love is amazing. Going back to the film, i think that it is so sad that all this has happened and i hope that it doesn't put people off of Christianity by scaring them away, fearing that to simply follow Christ would imply this kind of commitment and thus prevent people from giving their live to Him. So Lord, please reassure and be in the hearts of those who are led to watch this, wherever they are in their spiritual lives or however lost they are and use it for good and not fear. Through Jesus amen.

Dear Lord, I have often heard that young people are looking for something to commit their lives to -- something worth dying for. I believe the radical commitment of these missionaries depicted in this movie can be a means to reaching many young people for You. Get the right people to the theatre.

We know that many today are dying for their faith, and this can also remind us all of that and of the need to pray for persecuted Christians. Lord, these people care not if they are persecuted, they only know that the only Hope for anyone is Jesus Christ, so they are willing to die to spread that message. That is not how I live; I am afriad to be a witness. Cause those of us who have it easy, as Americans do, to become bold! Let us fearlessly share Your Gospel with the lost!

Lord, I pray that those who see this film will become radically commited to You, as these missionaries were, as YOU were to dying for us. Lord, You are worth giving it ALL for! I pray that is the message commnicated (among others) and that people will give their lives TOTALLY to You, no matter what the cost!

Make me more radical for You than EVER before! You died for me, but would I die for You? I don't even want to give up a few simple things You ask of me, so how can I say I would die for You? Lord, it is plain that we must leave ALL to follow You, and that we will be hated for following You. I have heard and seen some things that seem like weak-willed Christians not willing to take a stand for their faith and for the truths of the Bible. I am glad those missionairies did not quit in the face of danger. I pray I may be more like them.

In Jesus Name, I pray and ask, amen.
