lent?

Good morning everyone,

I have an inquiry about one of the Catholic tradition's. They participate in lent, what exactly does this mean to them and is it written? I have a wonderful friend from this denomination but I just can't comprehend many of their traditions.

Lent is 40 days long, representing Jesus' 40 days in the desert being tempted by Satan.
Jesus' resistance to tempatation is represented by Catholics giving up something for Lent (ie: abstaining from liquor)

My family is Catholic and still do not eat meat on Fridays. During Lent, especially, they forgo meat on Fridays and Wednesdays.

I have yet to get an answer anywhere on why they eat only fish on Fridays.

Lent is a tradition of false religion started in the days of Ezekiel and Jeremiah. The false mother-son religion foreshadowed the true religion of a Father-Son relationship, replaced by a mother-son relationship.

Mythology (false religion) has it that Tamuuz son of Sumerius, the wife of Nimrod, of Babylonia. She claims to have had a son miraculously conceived by a light of sunbeam (foreshadowing the virgin birth). This gave way to worshiping the sun. She claimed that her son was the promised deliverer of the earth (fale foreshadow of Jesus Christ). When he was a grown man, a wild boar slew him. After 40 days of his mother's weeping he was raised from the dead.

Other cultures had similar stories. The first high priestess of idolatry was knows as Venus, Aphrodite, Issus and Astarte in different parts of the world. It is in this cultic worship of the mother and child that began the traditions of false religion.

In Summeria she was called Ishtar, In Assyria she was called Astarte and her son Baal. In Egypt--Issus and her son, Horace. In Greece Aphrodite, and her son, Eros. Among the Romans--venus and her son, cupid. The mother was worshiped by the offering of a wafer, a little cake baked to her as the "Queen of Heaven". The 40 days of morning began the lent season, in memory of her dead son, Tamuuz.

At the end of 40 days, the feast of Ishtaar was celebrated in memory of the resurrection of Tamuuz. Part of the celebration was the exchanging of Ishtaar eggs, now know as Easter eggs, symbolizing new life, fertility. The false religion was heavily inundated with priestly rituals, with the dedication of virgins, purgatorial fires, the sign of the cross signifying the first letter of the name, Tao for Tamuuz.

This was not some New Testament reliigion handed down from St. Peter. No, in fact it was actually started with Nimrod. Jeremiah writes about this in 44:15.

Ezekiel talks about the wafer, the little cake, in 8:13, 14.

Revelation 17 talks about this Harlot, the Queen of heaven that will marry the world system of government in the end times. That has its seat in the city of 7 hills (Rome).

As far as not eating the meat, as a child we wer instructed not to eat meat during lent because of the flesh of Jesus. Read 1 Timothy 4: 1-7 and see if this answers your question.

Interesting reading, but do believe there needs to be some clairification here.

I haven't seen any Scriptures in God's Word depicting the "Harlot" in Rev. as being the "Queen of Heaven" that will marry the one world government.

Rather, she is described as a whore, not a wife. thru this, the title represents her ability to convince the earths leaderships of nations to follow the anti-christ into abominations against God.

Granted, God speaks of having her seat amongst the seven hills- (Rome), but, we also know from Scripture, the one world government will be the "revived Roman Empire"- Daniel and King Nebecaneezer's dream of the staue. (Two legs of iron, then two feet of iron mixed with clay).

In that dream, a huge rock falls upon the statue smashing it down, but hitting it at it's feet only. (Two legs of iron are interpreted by Daniel from God as Rome).

Thus, the "Harlot" could be construed as the religious leader, but clearly represents the fashion people are decieved into abominable practices against God. Her riches and color described, relate to the anti-christ, because Lucifer, as a Cherub Angel of God's in the past, walked upon the mountain of God- (highest position in Heaven as an Angel), plus he walked amongst the burning-(precious stones), on that mountain, with God even giving Lucifer those stones as his "covering".

I say the "Harlot" represents the ani-christ because as the 1st Beast" in Rev., he can do all kinds of miracles and wonders in the sight of the Dragon- (satan), but later on, after being wounded as if dead, satan will incarnate the anti-christ and revive him miraculously-(Rev. 14:1-4).

Many have claimed the "harlot" and second beast of Rev. are the Pope of the Rman Catholic Church who'll be in power at that time. But, the fact the two feet and ten toes of that staue being iron mixed with clay, proves it's the one world Government who is the "revived Roman Empire".

Either in the late 1940's or late 1950's, 3 European Nations came together to form a union called- "Benolux". To do this, they wrote up an agreement those first 3 country leaders signed that was known as the- "Treaty of Rome".

This is what we know is called the European Community now. Since then, more countries have joined to bring it to more than ten countries. But, God's Word speaks of how this amagomation shall become divided and several will leave the union and bring the number back to ten nations at the last.

At that point, in a later vision God gives Daniel, we see where a smaller horn then rises amongst the first ten. (Little horn translated from Hebrew- anti-christ). This will be the start where he becomes publicly known and starts leading the- "one world government".

The "fish on Friday" deal started during WWII. It's not limited to fish only. It's like "Meatless Tuesday". The Pope suggested that Catholics eat no meat on Friday during WWII as a way to help the war effort and to signify the last Supper.
Growing up Catholic we had a lot of fish, cheese pizza, broccoli and pasta, pasta with tomato sauce for dinner. During Lent, especially, the fish-on-Friday edict was strictly adhered to. I went to public school in NJ, and our school cafeterias (elem school, jr high, and HS) offered no-meat school lunch on Fridays.

I think my mother told me the Pope recanted the no-meat-on-Friday deal about mid-90's, but most Catholics I know (my whole family) still adhere to it.
