The whole DaVinci thing sets up a scenario where the antichrist can claim he is a direct descendant of Jesus and Mary Magdalene.

I always wondered how this guy was going to come from obscurity and take the world by storm.

The stage is certainly set...

I don't think that the Antichrist will claim to be Jesus' son.
Even if he claimed to be his son then he couldn't claim to be God.

There are only four scriptures that I am aware of that talk about the antichrist

1 John 2:18--many antichrists
2. 1 John 2:22--anyone that denies that Jesus is the Christ
3. 1 John 4:3 every spirit that denies
4. 2 John 1:7 many deceivers

So it seems to me that there are many anitchrists, both spirit and flesh, and they already are at work. Anyone that denies Jesus is the Son of God, or denies His authority or His power is also an antichrist. You can deny with your actions as well as with your words!

My question is this: Is the man of lawlessness 2 Thes 2:3 (sin in some translations), the same as the antichrist? Or are the Scriptures talking about two different topics?

THere are some other verses in God's Word that speak about the Antichrist. One is 2 Thess 2:3-8:
Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man if sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Do you not remember that when i was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed.

Many believe that the "restrainer" is the Holy Spirit working through the Church and that when the Rapture occurs, the Church will be gone, opening the door for the Antichrist to be revealed. So, yes, it appears that the "man of sin" or "man of lawlessness" in scripture refers to the Antichrist who comes to power during the Tribulation. When we see all that's going on, it certainly does appear that the stage is set and the time is close at hand.

Again, I'm late in posting, but there are others as well- Rev.13:1-4., in Daniel which I can't remember off hand also.

Rainbow788- Actually, you are right about this "man of perdition" being the "anti-christ", but missed the part where Jesu declares that now we know what is be held back, until this antichrist is revealed.

What is being held back, is the Rapture. Why? Jesus had told them in 2Thess. 2:4-8, notice they were told 6-And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. (First notice of the Rapture not happening until right after the anti-christ becomes publicly known).

7-8- For the mystery of iniquity doeth already work; only he who now letteth, will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming.

Again the timing for the anti-christ is revealed as being right before the Rapture happens.

Hope this helps. God Bless!!
