Things have really gotten severe! Israel is blowing up things in Lebanon including the airport! Their soldiers have been captured and they feel as if they have to use force to rescue them. This is causing an uproar! Innocent civillians are being killed! Lebanon is under attack by angry Israelis. The Lebabnese, particularily the people of Hezbollah, are stiking back and blowing up things in Israel as well, as far away as the city of Haifa! A war has erupted! Please pray that God steps in and settles things between them. Things never got this bad between them and the Palestinians! It is definately a sign of our soon returning Lord. O Lord, please settle this! Let your people know that Jesus is the true Messiah who is their hero and the answer to their problems. I can't understand your people not having Christ! Please do something! Stop this war! I plead of you in Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen.

Father, I stand in the gap and ask for peace in Jerusalem and all the Middle East! Father, change their hearts and call them to repentance and salvation in Jesus! AMEN!

WNC Jewish community fears situation losing control

ASHEVILLE NC — Western North Carolina’s Jewish community watched closely Thursday as violence between Israel and the Shiite militant group Hezbollah escalated into what some fear could become an all-out war....

ENGEL: SYRIA AND LEBANON MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE
Calls Hezbollah attacks “an act of war”
Washington, D.C.- Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY), Senior Member of the House International Relations Committee and author of Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act, condemned the Hezbollah attacks and vowed to hold Syria and Lebanon accountable.
Engel issued the following statement: "I am outraged by today's Hezbollah attack on Israel. This was an act of war, and Israel has every right to respond militarily to stamp out the terror threat.
“It is clear that kidnapping is becoming standard practice for the Syrian-backed terrorist groups. First, Hamas seized Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit and today Hezbollah grabbed two Israeli soldiers from within Israel's borders.
“I call on the President to complete implementation of the Syria Accountability Act's remaining sanctions on Syria until it ends support for terrorism. With Hamas based in Damascus and Hezbollah receiving full Syrian backing, it's time to impose the full range of sanctions.
“I call upon the Lebanese government to immediately condemn this action, take full control of all of its territory, and secure the release of the hostages so they can return to their families. The Lebanese government must know that the United States and the world are watching how they handle this crisis. Either they side with the hostage takers in Hezbollah which sits in the Lebanese government or it stands with the world against the terrorists.
“We must give full backing to Israel as it deals with the terrorist groups, Hamas and Hezbollah, and must hold Syria and Lebanon accountable as long as they continue to sponsor and host these vicious organizations."

Little progress in cooling Israel-Lebanon conflict
Iran threatens 'crushing response' if Israel attacks Syria
Saturday, July 15, 2006
Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora says Bush is "sincere" in his efforts to help Lebanon.
Diplomacy sputtered Friday in the Israel-Lebanon conflict, as President Bush was forced to walk a political tightrope, Iran lobbed threats and insults at Israel, and Lebanon pleaded for international intervention to no avail.
In a phone call, Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora urged Bush to help persuade Israel to halt its attacks. Bush expressed support, and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told Siniora she would apply pressure to help achieve a cease-fire, according to the prime minister's office.
But White House spokesman Tony Snow said Bush made no promises to Siniora that he would try to persuade the staunch U.S. ally to scale back the military assault on Lebanon that has destroyed infrastructure and left dozens of civilians dead.
"The president is not going to make military decisions for Israel," Snow said.
News of the conversation came as the Pentagon was trying to figure out how to evacuate about 25,000 American citizens from Lebanon, military sources said.
In Russia for the G-8 summit, Bush reiterated his assertion that Israel had a right to defend itself, but again expressed concern that Israel could topple the U.S.-friendly Lebanese government that has been in place since the 2005 elections, the first after Syria ended its 30-year military occupation of the country.
Bush "believes that the Israelis have a right to protect themselves, and also that we think it's important that in doing that, they try to limit as much as possible so-called collateral damage, not only to facilities but also to human lives," Snow said.
En route to St. Petersburg, Russia, Bush called King Abdullah of Jordan and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, both of whom he thanked for trying to help resolve the situation....

DAY'S EVENTS
Key Developments in the Israel Conflict
Below are some of the key developments from the ongoing conflict in Israel from Friday, July 14:
-- Hezbollah’s leader said Friday after a failed Israeli attack on his home and office that his group is ready for “open war” with Israel.
-- Hezbollah used an unmanned aircraft filled with explosives to attack an Israeli warship. The impact set the ship on fire and four sailors are missing.
-- Israel targets the Beirut airport for a second day in a row and struck Lebanon’s main road artery, the Beirut-Damascus highway. Hezbollah strikes back, firing more rockets at Israeli towns across the border.
-- Hezbollah is blamed for firing more than 200 rockets from Lebanon in the last two days. Nearly a quarter of a million Israelis are huddled in bomb shelters.
-- An emergency meeting of Arab League ministers is set for tomorrow in Egypt, one of the more moderate Mideast countries apparently frustrated by Hezbollah’s decision to start fighting with Israel.
-- The Associated Press picked up Hezbollah TV reports that the headquarters of the Hezbollah terrorists has been destroyed by Israeli bombs dropped in an airstrike. CBN News sources in Israel said Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah is still alive.
-- An Israeli warship enforces a naval blockage. The sea operation is part of the major Israeli offensive on Lebanon, which started on Wednesday after Hezbollah guerrillas killed eight Israeli soldiers and captured two.
-- There’s word that four soldiers are missing after an Israeli warship was hit off the coast of Lebanon.
*This information was compiled from top Associated Press headlines and briefings throughout the day.

Iran warns Israel not to attack Syria
July 14, 2006
Iranian President Ahmadinejad warned Israel that if they were to strike Syria, it would be considered an attack on the whole Islamic world that would bring a fierce response against the Jewish state, which could mean the entire Middle East at war.
World leaders like UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, the leaders of the EU, President Bush of the US, and President Putin of Russia, and even King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia are concerned that the Israeli-Hizbullah conflict could lead to an extremely serious situation which could subject all Middle East nations to destruction. Many world leaders feel that the attack, counter attack between Israel and both Hamas in the South and Hizbullah in the North could escalate into a full blown Middle East war.
Jimmy's Prophetic Prospective on the News
There have been around the clock news reports of the intensifying conflicts between Israel and Hamas in the South with Hizbullah at the Northern border of Israel. These military actions are a page from the last major message of Jesus some 2,000 years ago, a prophetic message that is coming very close to fulfillment.
CNN, the Fox News Channel, and MSNBC along with other news outlets are giving us almost around the clock coverage of the intensifying military action that is focused on the Jewish state of Israel. These network news reports and this report that I'm giving right now, are truly a page from the message that Jesus Christ gave on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem almost 2,000 years ago.
Jesus said, as recorded in Matthew 24:6-7, that there would be wars and rumors of wars, nation against nation and kingdom against kingdom. The present Middle East crisis surely fits that prophecy. Jesus also told John the apostle to write in the book of Revelation about wars that would be prevalent during the seven year period of judgment yet to come; these were recorded in Revelation 6:3-4, 9:1-16, and 19:11-20.
As the world watches the Middle East crisis intensifying, the words of Jesus Christ draw closer to fulfillment, and it could be very soon.

Pray for President and Mrs. Bush, now in St. Petersburg, Russia....As the G-8 leaders gather under the cloud of heightened violence in the Middle East, pray for God's powerful presence in their summit...Pray for an end to the fighting and firebombing between Lebanon, Hizbollah and Israel...Pray for President Bush, Secretary of State Rice and all leaders to have God's wisdom and strength as they seek to support Israel and influence Lebanon and Syria to disarm...
We've got plenty of blessings to give thanks for, and I'm blessed by the fact that millions of Americans, many of whom I've never seen face-to-face, pray for me and my family. It's one of the great blessings of America, to be President of a land of prayer....We come together to give our thanks for all our blessings, and recognize our nation's continuing dependence on divine providence.

It is just part of what has to happen before the return of the Lord.
Lord, I pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the safety of your nation Israel.

I ask you to bring salvation to the Middle East and call your people to yourself.

Rescue the suffering and comfort those who have lost loved one's.

We pray that right will prevail.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.

I'm sure this is a silly question but I've got to ask.

We know, or rather strongly feel, that this seems to be the End Times. With the book of Revelation telling us about the outcome of things I don't understand the point of praying? I know that the Bible says to pray without ceasing but if we know the general outcome and God is going to do HIS plan then why should we pray?
I feel odd praying, for example, for peace in Israel when we know that true peace won't come till the Lord has returned. And with all this dischord being heightened in the Middle East... I don't get it.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

KJV Amos 914,)15 ...I will plant them (my people of Israel) upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.

KJV Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. 7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

KJV Romans 8:26 ...We know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

KJV Psalm 143:8 ...Cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

We are commanded to pray for others, especially Israel. We are to pray during these end times. We are to pray for wisdom and protection for ourselves, our loved ones and for our enemies. Once the Lord comes back there will be no more evangelizing for us! No more witnessing! That's it. No more chances to store up treasures! What you've got is what you've got! No more rewards!

This is the time to 'kick it up a notch or two' like Emeril would say!

WHY PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM?
We pray for peace in Jerusalem because the Scriptures tell us to in Psalm 122:6.

World Destiny Meets in Jerusalem
. . . .

God Almighty gave Jerusalem to Israel as an everlasting covenant.
He swore by his own name through Abraham and his seed, Jacob (Israel).
Psalms 105:8-11
Hebrews 6:13
Genesis 17:7-8

God pronounced a curse upon those who curse Jerusalem.

Genesis 12:1-2
Zechariah 12:1-6
God pronounces judgment on all nations that come against Jerusalem. Judgment: 26 Nations have come against Jerusalem. God has judged all of them mightily. Most of them either don't even exist today, or have been weakened beyond comprehension.

God pronounced blessings on those who bless Jerusalem.
("I will bless those Who Bless My People.")

The return of our Lord and Savior is directly related to Jerusalem.

Most all prophecy points to Jerusalem and the end times; the new Temple being built; the Antichrist; the Battle of Armageddon; 144,000 Evangelists.
When we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, we are praying for the Lord to return. Hebrews 9:28, ";and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."
Acts 1:8 "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."
"When the Lord shall build (Hebrew: to obtain children) up Zion, He shall appear in His glory." Psalms 102:16
Revival in the nation of Israel and the world. The church was birthed in the Book of Acts. During the message preached by Peter, he prophesied in Acts 3:19 that a time of refreshing would come from the presence of the Lord, and then Jesus Christ would return. That time of refreshing from the presence of the Lord (revival) will impact the nation of Israel, Arab and Jew alike (reconciliation), and will usher in the return of our Lord.
Jesus, in Luke 21:24, prophesied the destruction, dispersion, domination and the deliverance of Jerusalem. All four prophecies have transpired.

Praying for Jerusalem is simple obedience to the Great Commission.
The Great Commission proclaims that we would be a witness unto Him in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria. Praying for peace and protection for those who are experiencing the same type of terror that was experienced in America on September 11th is a way to be a witness.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is sharing God's love and compassion.
Matthew 15:16: "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

. . . .
.
.
The Jerusalem Prayer Team is a prayer movement of people around the world with a goal to have 1 million people praying daily and 100,000 houses of worship praying weekly for the peace and protection of the Jewish people.

....The Jerusalem Prayer Team, launched by Michael Evans, is an outgrowth of Corrie ten Boom's family legacy. The family ten Boom in Holland first started a weekly prayer meeting for the Jewish people in 1844, after being especially moved at a worship service in the Dutch Reformed Church. The family and others who stopped by their home specifically prayed for the peace of Jerusalem. These meetings took place every week for 100 years, until Feb. 28,1944, when Nazi soldiers came to the house to take them away for helping local Jews and hiding them in a secret room...The Jerusalem Prayer Team is the Corrie ten Boom prayer meeting coming back to life....

Father, I ask for peace in Israel, and particularly Jerusalem. Protect Your people Lord. Cause the bombs that would strike Israel to fail to explode. Confuse the enemy of Israel Father so that the fighting will cease. I also ask You to bring confusion to all the children of Ishmael. In Jesus Name I ask these things.

Israel pounds Beirut, Lebanese-Syria border
BEIRUT, Lebanon (CNN) -- Israel pounded southern Beirut as well as targets on the Lebanese side of the border with Syria Saturday, as Hezbollah militants fired rockets into northern Israel....

Zechariah 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. 2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.

We can identify with times of discouragement when we feel our prayers are not reaching the Lord.

KJV Numbers 6:24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

KJV 2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.

KJV 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight

KJV 2 Thessalonians 2:16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

KJV Jude (125 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

KJV Psalm 72:19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

Lord, you said to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and that you will bless those who bless Israel. We pray a blessing and wisdom on them. I pray the media would report things correctly and if this is the begging of the end we thank you for that and I pray an outpouring of your message to the people involved on both sides. I pray protection. I pray an end to Hezbollah who some have said are worst terrorists than alquada. bless all concered and give them peace. Give Pres. B

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee (Psalm 122:6)."

The fighting began last Wednesday, in the early morning hours, when terrorists launched a barrage of rockets into a town near the Israeli-Lebanese border. However the rockets were a diversion. A few miles to the east, Hezbollah guerrillas crossed the border, fired anti-tank missiles at two armored vehicles, seized two soldiers, and killed at least seven others. Israel called the raid an "act of war" and has since attacked Lebanon by air and sea and has sent in troops to look for the captured soldiers.

Israel is now batting on two fronts. While war rages in the north, Israel has continued its counter-terrorist offensive in Gaza. Tensions in the region have grown increasing fragile, and violence threatens to consume the entire Middle East.

It has been a week since the hostilities erupted, during which time Hezbollah has fired over 700 rockets into Israel. The rockets have been targeted at population centers throughout northern Israel, including Haifa, Israel's third largest city. The rockets have penetrated deeper into Israeli territory than ever before. Hezbollah claims to possess approximately 12,000 rockets with ranges of up to 200 kilometers.

Hezbollah was founded by Iran, and it is often seen as a proxy for Iran and Syria to carry out attacks against Israel. Israeli military reports indicate the rockets that hit Haifa may have even been fired by Iranian Guard troops in Lebanon. Israel has said that it will not halt its offensive until Hezbollah is disarmed. Both Hezbollah and Hamas have headquarters in Damascus, which has prompted speculation that Israel may hit Syria. Iran has said that if the conflict spreads to Syria, it will be interpreted as "an attack against the whole Islamic world."

>From 1976 to 2005 Syria occupied Lebanon, and it still has strong influence in Lebanese politics. UN resolution 1559 required Syrian troops to leave Lebanon and demanded that militias surrender their weapons. Under intense pressure from the international community, Syria withdrew its troops from Lebanon in April of last year, ending its 29-year military presence in the war-torn nation. The militias, however, have refused to disarm. Hezbollah, backed by Syria and Iran, has vowed to continue its armed struggle against Israel. The Lebanese government has not taken action to disarm the terrorists, therefore Israel holds Lebanon accountable.

Hezbollah, which occupies southern Lebanon along the Israeli border, is a group of radical Shiite militants that opposes the West, seeks to create a Muslim fundamentalist state modeled after Iran, and is a bitter foe of Israel. Hezbollah and its affiliates have planned or been linked to a lengthy series of terrorist attacks against America, Israel, and other Western targets. According to the US State Department, Hezbollah receives "substantial amounts of financial, training, weapons, explosives, political, diplomatic, and organizational aid from Iran and Syria."

Hezbollah is an important player in Lebanon's politics and a major provider of social services to thousands of Lebanese Shiites. It operates hospitals, schools, orphanages and a television station. Its base is in Lebanon's Shiite-dominated areas, including parts of Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley. In addition, US intelligence reports say that Hezbollah cells operate in regions including Europe, Africa, South America, and North America.

In last year's parliamentary elections Hezbollah and its pro-Syrian Shiite alliance claimed victory in Southern Lebanon, winning 23 seats in the 128-member assembly. Previously Hezbollah held only 8 seats in the assembly. Not only did they win 23 seats, they won with nearly 80 percent of the vote - a landslide by any standards. Their victory has been as a mandate for continuing the armed struggle against Israel.

Despite Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in May of 2000, Hezbollah has continued to shell Israeli forces at a disputed border area called Shebaa Farms. Shebaa Farms is located where the borders of Lebanon, Israel, and Syria meet. Israel and the UN consider Shebaa Farms to be part of the Golan Heights (thus it is considered occupied Syrian territory), while Hezbollah and Lebanese officials claim it belongs to Lebanon. They use these claims to justify their attacks against Israel.

Hezbollah is many things: a terrorist group, a guerrilla movement, a proxy for Iran and Syria to use against Israel, the champion of Lebanon's Shia Muslim community, a leading Lebanese political force, and even a builder of hospitals and schools. Through all these roles it exerts remarkable influence on Lebanon.

Experts attribute much of Hezbollah's widespread popularity to its claim that it forced Israel to retreat from territory it held, something no Arab government or group had ever accomplished. Hezbollah waged a violent, 18-year campaign against Israel’s control of a self-declared "security zone" in southern Lebanon, which Israel had established after the 1982 invasion of Lebanon by forces under then-Defense Minister Ariel Sharon. In 2000, after suffering mounting casualties, then-Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak ordered Israeli troops to unilaterally leave the security zone. For millions of Arabs, Hezbollah achieved heroic status, and many Palestinian militants at war with Israel cite Hezbollah as an inspiration.

URGENT PRAYER UPDATE
INTERNATIONAL MISSION BOARD
, SBC imb . org
JULY 17, 2006

NORTHERN AFRICA AND THE MIDDLE EAST

International Mission Board personnel in the Middle East urged Southern Baptists to pray for peace in Lebanon, Israel, and the entire region as it plunges closer to full-scale warfare. “The news gets worse each day as this conflict deepens,” John Brady, who leads Southern Baptist work in Northern Africa and the Middle East, said. “We’re asking Southern Baptists to please take a moment to pray after any news update. Please pray for the peoples of this region. Each bit of news should be a nudge to a personal call to prayer.”

“Our folks are praying and staying in close contact with regional leadership,” Brady said of Southern Baptist workers in the region. “These are difficult days. Yet our work here, to quote the Apostle Paul, is to be a fragrance of life. In this part of the world where death is such a rampant thing, the fragrance of life from Christ is essential to bringing hope to these nations. Please pray that this fragrance will be real in all our lives and many will be drawn to the Prince of Peace.”

JULY 19, 2006

Amid the shouts of fear and fury as rockets rain down on Israel and Lebanon, a deeper cry is rising to God from Christian believers in the Middle East: “Lord, bring peace!” Not just political or military peace, which may or may not ever come, but the peace only God can bring through Jesus Christ. One believer in the region asks, “Pray that God’s light will shine through followers of Jesus during these days and nights of trouble in the Middle East. Ask that believers in Jesus will find rest and hope in the promises of God’s Word. Pray that they will have His perspective and guidance to know how to minister in Jesus’ name to the many hurting people around them.” God knew that this was coming. God is standing in the midst of this. We need to pray that war will not stop the things God is doing. Currently, all Southern Baptist workers in the region are accounted for and safe. Meanwhile, Lebanese Christians are delivering food and New Testaments to shelters housing civilians fleeing the fighting in southern Lebanon. They are asking for prayer for their safety and the continuation of this ministry to terrified refugees. Hatred, fear and violence are potent forces, particularly in the Middle East, but they cannot defeat the power of prayer. Middle Eastern believers are claiming that power--and they hope Christians around the world will join them in this dark hour. [excerpted from Erich Bridges’ Baptist Press article, “As rockets fall, prayers for ‘true peace’ rise from Christians in the Middle East”]

Was looking at the online news a bit ago.
There was a new article today about ancient Bible Psalms found in a bog in Ireland.
The book,it said, was found open to Psalm 83 which is having to do with God hearing complaints of other nations trying to destroy the name of Israel.

I don't think that was a coincidence especially with all that's going on. I've been praying alot for peace over there and for God to comfort His people. I know that alot of other people are praying the same things. I believe this is God confirming in a very public setting that He hears our prayers AND He is comforting His people by acknowledging their struggles right now.

*shivers* :>

But these are my own thoughts. Not saying that this is what's going on. Don't have the power to read God's mind ya know! ;>

Just thought I'd pass the tidbit along...

Dear Lord I thank You that a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbellah seems to be on the horizon and pray that it will be a success. In Your Name I come against all the forces of evil that want to keep the war going and are trying to destroy Your people. I ask this in Jesus' Name, Amen
