People acted like this message was new

I saw the movie. I listened to the reactions to the movie goers there. They acted as though they have never heard about the christ crucifixion. Why did this movie make people think that the message was new? It has been around for 2000 years. I don't know if Mel Gibson really researched it like he said he did. He added alot of violence to the movie. The soldiers beat Jesus even before he was tried. Correct me if my information is wrong. Peace.

I am pretty sure that God called Mel Gibson to make this movie.

Only God knows how many have joined the family since this movie began to touch people.

We live in a pretty clean, safe and sterile environment.

I'm pretty sure that there is way less violence in his movie than there was in real life.

I'm glad I don't know how people suffered then or how they suffer now in ways I will never see.

I don't think very many people had pictured Jesus' sacrifice this clearly in the whole 2000 years.

I think it is a gift of God to the world.

A lot of people have never heard about the Christ. Still others think that saying a prayer is all that is needed to go to heaven. The Bible says that Christ was so badly beaten that He was unrecognizable as a human form. He was bruised, beaten, bloody, had flesh and skin torn from His bones.

No my firend, I think Mel Gibson gave the pg version of a R or X movie. You should do some more research on the matter. You will be surprised.

Mel Gibson did not add violence, but he toned it down. You've got it backwards!

Peace

I know this is an older post, but would just like to share some insight.

I would suggest, when i watched the movie at the theater, most people were shocked, to see the condition Christ was in after the persecution, then to be nailed to the cross on top of that.

It appeared like something "new" to people, as reading of christ's persecution then crucifixtion, has less of an impact, than if had seen it in real life.

Few Christians ever honestly think about just how hard it was for Jesus suffering that. Even so, no one can even concieve what it was like for Jesus after that. We think Mel Gibson's movie was pretty violent or didn't need to be so, yet Jesus took all the sins of the world and all men on to His Body, even after that.

God's Word describes Jesus was terribly effected by those sins. Yes, Jesus had been ostersized and tormented by Roman soldiers after taken to the place of holding before seeing Pontious Pilate. Read descriptions from all the 4 Gospels and it shows at least some ill treatment there.

Remember as well, during that time, "Saul of Tarsus" was the greatest persecutor of God's Children. I suggest Mr. Gibson's movie was one of the closest examples ever produced of what Jesus christ had suffered pjysically.

God Bless!!

Hello my brothers and sisters of Christ ---

I too must say that upon watching the movie once it came out on DVD, it brought me to tears, (even now as I watch it several months later) of how brutial the soliders were to Christ. In Sunday School they taught the 'G' rated version as well during Easter time the network channels always showed a less 'violent' event than what actually happened. It brought me to tears upon watching the movie to know how badly Christ was treated, worst than I have ever imagined He was treated. Maybe that is why so many people is still in shock of the violent way our Christ had died for us.

Peace and Love everyone.
