What Lies Hidden

WHAT LIES HIDDEN
Ancient cities, ancient ruins
Fallen in decay
What stories lie hidden
Underneath this hardened clay?

What would you tell,
What would you say,
Of the generations
Of your day?

Would you boast
Of great and mighty deeds
Or heroes strong and bold?

Of kings and queens
And their great wealth
Or great knowledge
That brought you gold?

Would you brag
Or would you moan
Of what might have been?

Did you embrace unto your breast
Corrupt and wicked deeds?
Could you not stand the test
Of honor and dignity?

Were you blind to changing times
Rejecting a better way?
Did you scorn and ridicule
The prophets of your day?

Broken pots, fallen walls
Are all that remain
Forgotten and rejected
O' where lies the blame?
