Dream Of Singing "Family Bible"
I just woke up (it is 2:15 AM EST November 9, 2006) from dreaming this dream:
It was early in the morning (right before dawn), and I and a female friend were riding in my truck down a familiar dirt road. I asked her if she wanted something to eat from McDonald's and she said no, it was too early. I continued driving down the dirt road, and came to a point where it met a paved road. I took the left route, and told my friend I knew of a church down the road, we could stop at it.
We went inside the church and sat down on the front bench in the social hall. I looked around and saw a few people I recognized; also the church was familiar. I noticed a refrigerator in front of me, and I was still hungry. I went to it, opened the door, and there was only some old stale food left. I opened the freezer door, and there was a tray of small orange juice pop sickles, so I took one, offered my friend one but she still wasn't hungry.
As I sat down, a woman (I perceived she was the church clerk) came to us and gave us what appeared to be "visitor cards". A man I knew in the back said, don't fill out that card, you'll be trapped and never get to preach anymore. As I reached for my pen, I noticed that my card already had my name, address and phone number on it and someone in the crowd yelled, "hey that's Irvin Rozier up there". My friend's card was blank, she took it and went and sit in the middle row to fill it out.
The woman who gave me the card also gave me a check, the amount was not clear, but her name and phone number was, Patricia Laws, phone number AT WITCH (old style meaning the numbers 289-5824). She also handed me a whole sack of brochures on church doctrine and a thick test booklet that I would have to complete before becoming a church member. I started to read and fill the forms out and I then threw down the bag in disgust.
I looked around and saw off to the left where church services were about to begin. One lady stood up and said, "Hey, we shouldn't have locked the prayer room door. We lost the key"! The other people were milling around, and looked disorganized. I looked outside and from where I was sitting, there appeared to be an auto repair shop...it was attached to the social hall building. An old burnt orange car, with missing tires, and dented doors was up on a car rack, and several young men, supervised by an older man, were in the process of manually turning the car to the left.
Meanwhile, in the church, I saw a man get up, and take a song book, so I assumed church was about to get started. Everyone stood up, but no song came forth. I then reached for an old tattered hymnal, but instead picked up a black leather bound used Bible, stood up begin pacing and started singing "Family Bible". A couple of men in front of me, looked up, joined in, and then a few that were sitting around me begin to sing, also. Finally, the whole church was singing, I was walking around, holding up that Bible, and singing. I then woke up. Here are the lyrics:
1. There's a family Bible on the table
Its pages torn and hard to read.
But the family Bible on the table
Will ever be my key to memory.
2. At the end of day when work was over
And when the evening meal was done,
Dad would read to us from the family Bible
And we'd count our many blessings one by one.
CHORUS:
I can see us sitting round the table
When from the family Bible Dad would read.
I can hear my mother softly singing,
"Rock of Ages, Rock of Ages cleft for me."
3. This old world of ours is full of trouble,
This old world would oh so better be,
If we had more Bibles on the table
And mothers singing, "Rock of Ages cleft for me."

OK, what I get is that You were hungry for God, but this church had stale spiritual food....Your friend was not hungry for God. You were in a social hall....again speaks of no spiritual food. This church has the social club atmosphere. They are not there to meet with and seek God but to meet with friends. You found these orange juice pop cicles, that would offer no sustanance or strength. You would leave the church unsatisfied and weak on such a wimpy meal.
Asking God what the card with your name already on it means....Perhaps, related to the "clerk" who was a witch. She knew you through some occult practice....why you might be trapped if you filled the card out. No, I think it means the devil knows you, like he said, "Paul, I know. Jesus I know. But who are you?" When someone yelled, "That's Irvin Rozier," I believe that means demons know who you are.
Since the brocures handed out by the witch had church doctrine, I am assuming this church had mixed in false religion, and that a religious spirit controlled this church. You were disgusted by the religious spirit that was represented by the forms and thick test booklet. You did not want religion! You had come in hungry....for GOD, not for religion. The forms also speak of a form of Godliness prevailing in this church.
Then, they said they lost the KEY to the prayer room and it was locked. A PRAYERLESS CHURCH (which is a powerless church). This church seemed to have a FORM of Godliness but NO power througout. Wow, when she said, "We shouldn't have locked the prayer room door. We lost the key," that really says it all. WE LOST THE KEY: PRAYER is the key! They were walking around disorganized because they had lost their way, because they were not in contact with God. They weren't PRAYING, so they had no direction from Him and no idea what the proper order should be.
They picked up the hymnal, but no song came forth....speaks of going through the motions. Even when they sing, no true worship is coming forward from many church attendees. They don't know how to worship God. God is probably not even listening to much that we call worship (thus, no sound came forth)....God is looking for those who worship him in spirit and in TRUTH, a true wroship form the inomost being, not just a facade of worshipping.
Then, You picked up the well read Bible, representing spiritual food, the thing which seemed to be missing in this church. This Bible had been well read, so that represents another who wanted to be spiritually fed. You are a preacher and The Word is what you preach. I think this was one of these user friendly churches, that was straying away from preaching the ABSOLUTE TRUTH of The Word. You did not want the false religion or relgious spirit in this place, you wanted GOD, and God is revealed in His Word.
You started singing about the Bible, as in preaching the truth that these people had abandoned for the form of Godliness. I believe the fact that all the others joined in when you started to sing is saying that people hunger for the truth -- not the watered down Gospel so many are feeding them. I believe when The Word is preached, people are drawn to it's truth. This shows me that these people were hungry for spiriutal food, too. They were looking for GOD and not religion. In fact the last verse of the song says it all:
This old world of ours is full of trouble,
This old world would oh so better be,
If we had more Bibles on the table
And mothers singing, "Rock of Ages cleft for me."
In other words, leaving The Word of God for a watered down, user friendly Gospel is a bad thing! We need to return to the Bible and Jesus (Rock of Ages, cleft for me.)
I needed to add this: The spirit of religion was defeated by The Truth!

That points up something that is a misconception in the church: People think a move of God with mighty power and anointing, as in an "experience" -- will drive out the spirit of religion. But in your dream it was the truth of THE BIBLE that drove out the spirit of religion. People want to feel God, they want a sensation, etc., and they talk about dead churches and relgious churches that don't feel God in this manner. But it was a lack of prayer and The Bible -- not a lack of FEELING -- that led to the religous spirit in the church. It was THE BIBLE, not feelings of the anointing, that brought people alive in Christ. People want something even MORE than a feeling; they want TRUTH. Many get into this "feelings" relationship with God, and, as long as they "feel" something it must be God, it must be anointed....regardless of whether it lines up with the TRUTH of scripture. Whenever we are feeling something and assume that God is moving....we must check everything we hear or think God is saying against the Bible. If it is not supported by scritpure, it is NOT of God.
That reminds me of the witch. She represents false power that was stepping in where the lack of a demonstration of God's power was. The devil will send countereits that seem to fill the void for the anointing. Witches have that "positive engergy" as they may call it, so that would touch the people's feeling cravings. People tolerated her probably because she had something they didn't -- power, even if was from the wrong source. But I noticed that when The Bible was held up as Truth, the people embraced that Truth. I think when the Truth was presented, the witch was history. I beleive her power in this church was destroyed. I am sure, now, that she is a Jezebel spirit, trying to control these church people. But when we confront her with Truth, she has to GO!!!
So I beleive there is an admonition in the dream. We live in a day of ever increasing anointing. But God is telling us not to forsake the Bible. We have to stand on it's absolute truth ALWAYS. And don't forget the power of prayer. He says in Revelation to return to our First Love....and do the things we did at the first. That seems like what this dream was definitely saying.
