Y'all know the deal with our house...flooding...sinkhole.
So, we were advised to hire a lawyer. Good Luck! We went to legal assistance on post and the lawyer we talked to said we had a strong case, just that he had no jurisdiction off post. He gave us a list of lawyers.
By the time we drove from post to our home, the answering machine was blinking. It was the lawyer from JAG. He asked us to call back and he gave me the name of a lawyer downtown who was good on real estate issues.
Getting ahold of him was tricky. He is a one-man operation. His secretary comes in once a week to do typing. His office is in an old storefront downtown. It has the old tin ceiling, all peeling and cracked paint. The floor is old hexagon tiles, some cracked. It's nothing like the law office we went to for the closing. It looks like no one had used the property for years.
In talking to him, we discovered he is a Christian! So in addition to legal advice, we get spiritual advice.
I explained that the former owner walks the neighborhood at least once a week and it was bugging me how he could walk by, grinning, as if he had done nothing wrong.
The lawyer's response: "Just don't let your anger cause you to sin."
I had explained how I was torn between wanting to do things to the house (painting, etc) and not wanting to do anything because we don't know how long we'll be in the house.
The lawyer's response: he related a story from Jeremiah about the people who had come to an area for a short while and were reluctant to put down roots and God told them to make a home for themselves and have children and when it is time to move on, then do so.
I had to turn in paperwork from the inspection. He said to me,"I believe you are a Christian, I don't know how this is all going to work out with you, the former owners, your realtor, their realtor and this inspector, but God does."
I answered that God will use this for good. He agreed.

I know God is in charge.

Here's the "Touched By An Angel" part:

I was thinking the other day how funny it would be if after this case is all done and closed, settled out-of-court, we go downtown to say hi and the office looks like it always does only no one's there. And then we ask the guys at the old-timey print shop next door if they have seen the lawyer, only for them to say..."There hasn't been a Mr. H in that office in over 50 years!"

Lord-

We pray since you have brought a good Christian lawyer to thier aide, we pray you continue to work thru him to bring about positive and worthy answers to this situation. We pray for peace, understanding and restoration to end this tribulation. In Jesus Name- Amen!!
