I am having a problem with a strange aggressive dog. I was walking my dogs past his terrortory out on the street. I heard the rope that secured snap and he came after me. He tried to attack one of my dogs. I pushed it away and now he just sits there and barks. I think it is a pitbull. It's brown with white on top. These neighbors are poor with little money. They have no fence to keep their dogs in. Why they even have a dog is beyond me. I dont' want to hurt the dog. I just want my neighbors to secure it better. It is tied up with a flimsy rope. Today the rope snapped due to the rain. If they tie it up with same rope what is to stop that rope from breaking again. I tried to contact my neighbors but they dont' respond. I hear a baby in their crying. Im just wondering what actions to take. I dont' want to bring the police or animal control in if i dont have to. I just want them to secure their dog a little better. At least i want the dog to know that i am friendly and that he need not attack my dogs. It was an unprovoked attack. HE just came at us with no warning. Luckily he didn't do much damage since i pushed him away in time. I think he is just a puppy but pitbulls have a reputation for not letting go once they bite something.
I am not even sure if it is a pitbull. I need knowledge.

If it is a pitbull, and it is attacking you or your dogs....I think you have every right to call someone in to deal with it. One woman was killed by her own pitbulls that she rose since they were babies. What is more important? The dog of the human? Rather than not wanting to cause problems, you may have to take action such as this. If they don't respond, you can not have this dog running the neighborhood loose. This is a threat to not just you but ALL in the neighborhood.

I pray, Lord, that You will show Jamvan what to do. I pray he will not let this go too long. Something needs to be done, if this dog is going to be attacking people or dogs. I pray that Jamvan will not have neighbors angry at him, if at all possible. I would pray that these neighbors would be responsible to keep their dog tied up or chained up more securely. Better, would be if they didn't even have a dog. Dogs need a place to run and be free. Anyway, Lord, step in and help Jamvan in this. Give him wisdom of how to proceed. In Jesus Name, amen.

I have a pit bull that I have had sence he was 5 wks old. He is the biggest baby dog I have ever had the best dog I have had and I have litterly hundreds of dogs in my lifetime so far. As for when the bite they don't let go well when they get in a fight their jaws lock on to the object.
I believe the way pit pull is raised is the way he will act towards others. In our family we have three right now three of the biggest babies you can ever find. But if I saw a pit out that I did not know I would not go up to it due to like I said it depends on how they have been raised.
I know you don't want to cause these people any problems but like someone else said your life is worth more than the dogs. They need to make sure this dog is secure if he is the type to attack people or other animals. He could hurt or even kill someone you or a child. If my pit was that way then I would not want him due to the fact I would not want to put anyones life in danger. I keep my dog inside and he only goes in our backyard which has a 6 foot fence. He is a good dog but due to the type of dog he is people tend to be afraid of him so I take no chances.
You need to speak to the people and if they won't speak to you then I would advice you to call animal control and they will first talk to them
before they take any action.

Heavenly Father
I lift this person up to you tonight and I ask for a hedge of protection to be all around them that no harm can come to them or their dogs as they
walk together. Lord let the people who own this dog take responsibility for
him and make sure cannot and wont' harm others.
In Jesus name
Amen
