Yesterday my husband decides to tell me that he doesn't want to live with me anymore...claims he still loves me very much but things have to change. I totally agree with him to a certain degree.
Here is our story, in short:
Been together for 9 years...for the most part have had a great marriage. He is an addict and has been off and on for the entire 9 years. Leaves a lot of jobs because he can't NOT use on the job site, he's a construction worker. About 5 years ago I became an addict...neither of us were saved at this time. When we started going to church I cleaned up as well as he did. Walking with God you realize that you don't want to live a certain way anymore. Well, I have fallen many times, as well as he has. We almost seperated back in Oct. He just told me he couldn't stand the way I was anymore, I wasn't the person he married. Ok, he has that right to a certain degree. I was a horrible house cleaner, didn't want to work..I was and am lazy. I don't want to be this way, but I'm not sure how to get out of it..I suffer from depression a lot, something that he does not understand. Well, after our talk back in Oct. I promised to keep our house clean, etc. I DID keep our house spotless...but had no desire to get a job. We struggle bad for money.
In Januraury I started using again, and so did he. This time we did it together. We decided on Saturday that we could not live like this anymore and we both decided to quit. Well, things were bad in the house because we both were trying to stop using. Then yesterday, BOOM!
I'm one step from going over the edge. I DO NOT want to use again, but everything is telling me to go do so. I'm so hurt! I love him sooo much! He just keeps saying that I need to prove to him that I am going to change and then we'll see what happens. I don't want to change for him, I want to change for me. But right now, I have this thing in my head that keeps saying "If you're marriage is over, then why bother". I do love God with all my heart and I know he is my answer...I just don't know which way to turn right now. I'm so scared! I can't eat or sleep. My heart is so hurt. I do love him and I do believe he loves me. Cheating has NEVER been an issue for either of us...so that is a plus. Someone just please help me. Pray for my marriage. I know we are good together...we really get along great when our stupid descions don't get in the way. PLEASE HELP ME! I dont' want to be self-destructive.

Lord Jesus please take this hold that Satan has on this couple and get rid of it. Lord make them lose all desire to use drugs and cause them to see that they need to put Your first in their lives. Lord help them to seek out help and counselling and to find someone who is a christian that can help them and guide them and even cause them to seek out the pastor of their church they were going to. Lord send someone into their lives that can help them see what this drug use is doing to themselves and their marriage. Lord let Your will be done in this situation.

Amen

I agree with the prayer above and will also ask you to think about your health, DRUGS can kill you really fast. You have to ask the lord to help you be strong so you can get rid of the drugs. You need to help yourself first and then help your husband. I pray that the lord helps you with your addiction, I pray that he shows you the way to stay clean forever. I ask for your marriage to be restored and for anything illegal to be gone from your life. OH DEAR LORD PLEASE HELP THIS COUPLE TO STAY CLEAN. HELP THEM WITH THEIR MARRIAGE IN JESUS NAME AMEN.......
