I heard a story about a certain flower that only grows after a forest fire. They call it "fire weed". It is real pretty with a purple color and grows up to five feet tall. It lays dormant until the brush is burned away, then it is nourished and grows all over the landscape. Pretty cool! Whil researching this I discovered that in Durango Colorado 2002 there was a hughe forest fire. There are now new Aspen trees growing from the shoots that lay dormant until the larger trees burned up. some of these strains of wild tree shoots can lay dormant for up to 1,000 years. It is absolutely amazing that in the midst of all this destruction, new life is just waiting for the opportunity to spring up new growth! God truly does give us beauty for ashes! |
