Beauty from ashes!

I read yesterday about a forest fire that is raging in Utah. My daughter (lives in South Dakota) said that the other day she saw and smelled a lot of smoke--there was a haze in the sky.

I heard a story about a certain flower that only grows after a forest fire. They call it "fire weed". It is real pretty with a purple color and grows up to five feet tall. It lays dormant until the brush is burned away, then it is nourished and grows all over the landscape. Pretty cool!

Whil researching this I discovered that in Durango Colorado 2002 there was a hughe forest fire. There are now new Aspen trees growing from the shoots that lay dormant until the larger trees burned up. some of these strains of wild tree shoots can lay dormant for up to 1,000 years.

It is absolutely amazing that in the midst of all this destruction, new life is just waiting for the opportunity to spring up new growth!

God truly does give us beauty for ashes!

Ashes make wonderful fertilizer. We see that here all the time.

The fire sweeps through, clears the dead brush, the sun can shine on the ground and the ashes provide fertlizer. It all bursts back into growth.

God is so smart! His world all works in such harmony.

The Giant Sequoias were protected from fire by the Forest Service for many years.

There were no baby Sequoias starting.

They discovered that it takes the heat of fire to open their pine cone type seeds and get them started.

We serve an amazing God!

Beautiful!

Lord thank you for the hard, the death. Be glorified in these times. Soften our hearts toward you. Let us hear Your Voice clearly as we have not when it is drowned out by celebration. Make us quick to praise you in the midst of fire! Consume us and make us solely Yours.

This is beautiful.

Father God, I thank You that though things may seem against us and though storms may fiercely rage around us, You have made a reservation for us and beneath what we consider as adversity, are springing for us extremely beautiful flowers of such fragrance and beauty as never before sprang in our lives.
Amen

Lord turn this day the fire into fruit. Let the old die and the new spring forth. You have planted your seed within us, now let the old man (woman) die to self, that You can be glorified.
