Does God answer all prayer? When?

This is a story I just read in Tommy Tenney's book, The God Chasers . It really does answer the question about God's ways and timing way different than ours. It may not answer the question of whether all prayers are answered, unless you understand that "no" is an answer also. The only other two answers from God are "yes" and "yes, but not right now"!

Exodus 33: 18-23

Then Moses said, "I pray You, show me Your glory!" And He said, "I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion."

But He said, "You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!" Then the LORD said, "Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock; and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. "Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen."

So way back in the Old Testament, after Moses got a glimpse of God's glory, he had to have more. He prayed to see the face of God--God's glory, His total goodness revealed. One taste and he became addicted. He was forever changed and never wanted to go back to the palace where he grew up!

But God only showed Moses a small glimpse of His glory--for no man can live and see God's glory. Only dead men see God's glory!

Then 1,500 years later (approximately) something interesting happened to the prayer that Moses had prayed. Yes all prayers hit the throne room floor, carried by angels. Some answered immediately, some filed for later, some put in the "no" pile. This one however was dusted off and God showed Moses something amazing!

Luke 9: 28-34 The Transfiguration

Some eight days after these sayings, He (Jesus)took along Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while He was praying, the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming. (GLORY)

And behold, two men were talking with Him; and they were Moses and Elijah, who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him. And as these were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles: one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah"--not realizing what he was saying. While he was saying this, a cloud formed and began to overshadow them; and they were afraid as they entered the cloud.

This is from the book:

"...while the disciples were sleeping, Jesus Christ was there alone as His glory was being revealed, bathing the earth with the preexistent light of the glory of God--in a lightning-like robe.

In that moment it is as if He said, "Okay now, Michael, Gabriel, (the two archangels) go get Moses. It is time for him to see My glory, now" In the halls of Heaven they dusted off Jacob's ladder and extended it to earth and Moses walked down to a place where he'd never been before--the promised land of his people. In his natural life, Moses was doomed to stand on the wilderness side of the river Jordan and look into the promised land of revival without ever participating in it. He had prayed to see the glory of God, but he could never see it until after was dead. On this day, 1,500 years after his death, after the unforgettable prayer of Moses had echoed in God's ears unceasingly day after day, Moses the dead man walking saw the glory of God unveiled.

...even after you die, your prayers live on. For 1,500 years the prayer of Moses kept saying, " Show me Your glory. Show me Your glory. Show me Your glory, until it prodded the very consicience of God. He had to make a divine appointment and set a day when eternity would intersect the limited spheres of time and space.

Moses, now that you're dead, I guess I'm going to have to answer that prayer"

Thank You Lord, for answering our prayers according to Your riches and glory, according to Your perfect timetable.

God bless all!

To me, it is about dominion.

I think we ask God to do things that are our job.

We are supposed to be taking territory and working in our Garden of Eden.

We are waiting on God and God is waiting on us.
