Homosexuality

OK, I'm confused about the topic in general. Basically, I've been taught that it's wrong, fine.

However, society today has become so liberal that homosexuality has become as mainstream as having blond hair.

So my question is, how are we as Christians, supposed to act and react towards homosexuality?

I could never condone such acts, but what about cultural aspects that are affected by homosexuality? Am I to stop watching TV or going to movies because of a homosexual theme or homosexual actors? And what about homosexual relatives/friends/people I encounter daily? Am I to avoid them?

I'm just really confused as how to deal with it! Part of me says to handle it as if it were any other sin, but this is a sin that society has made perfectly "normal" and others must "accept" it lest we be labeled as bigots.

The old adage of "hate the sin, love the sinner" is a bit too vague at this point. What do you guys think?

The sins of homosexuality are no different than other sins of a sexual nature. The old addage is correct as it pertains to any sinner: guess what? We all fall short of God's glory! Don't discriminate because of the type of sin. We are not to fellowship with sin of any kind, but you have friends, family, and yes even church members up to their eyeballs in all sorts of sins.

God commands us to love all people, including our enemies. Love junkies but you don't have to condone their behavior or hang out with them either.

Love prostitutes, but again you don't have to hang out with them.

I would choose not to watch movies with homosexual tones in them. Most R rated movies are not good christian watching either, and now some PG-13 movies are also indecent.

Forget what liberal TV and Hollywood says is ok. What does the word of God say? Thas is your only yard stick!

I thought as much as far as homosexuality being a sin like any other. I have to keep reminding myself there are no different "levels" to sin in God's eyes. It's just hard to picture how someone can commit the same sin over and over and not open their eyes to how wrong it is. I suppose that goes for all sinners!

As a side note, there are many R-rated movies that are ok for Christians to watch, or at least I think so. Passion of the Christ pops into my head to start with. I also enjoy controversial movies such as "Children of Men". Movies like that have an R rating for the controversial subject manner, not from pornography, etc. But to debate the morality if movies is a different subject matter altogether.

Very good eagle4him-

To add to that, God does declare we are not to be involved with "unatural acts". This by Biblical definition speaks of homosexual, lesbian, beastility among other acts against God as such.

And since the beginning because God ordained a relationship was to be between a man and a woman for such, accepting such behavior or participating in it is against God, yet as eagle4him shows, we are to love them regardless.

God Bless!!

So what if you are labelled as intolerant, closed minded and a bigot? Some stuff is just plain wrong! You can embrace and love the homosexual person, but not accept their lifestyle choice.
Homosexuality is no worse a sin than any other. Sin is sin is sin is sin. But it is a sin and should be treated as such.
Since the liberal media and mainstream America has taken the stance that homosexuality is as normal as blonde hair, Christians are left to defend their faith. Realize, just like some blonde people are not born that way- neither are homosexuals! It is a choice.

I truly believe that most homosexuals have been molested and/or sexually abused as children. The others have chosen this lifestyle because it is so chic right now. It seems everyone is gay or bisexual.
I am currently attending a 9 hour course on child sexual abuse. The statistic say that 1 in 3 women has been sexually abused and 1 in 6 men has been sexually abused. With that alarming statistic- I think we can trace homosexuality back to a case of abuse. Some people have memories as far back as infancy of their abuse! Those are probably the people who "knew all their life that they were gay".

The practice of homosexuality is a sin. This has been a tough one for me. I grew up with a boy from the time he was little he was wired as a girl. We just acepted who he was and we played with him all the time. Into adulthood we lost track and later I heard he died from aids. I mourned his loss as he was a terrific person. He was never molested, normal family, yet from babyhood, body was boy, yet everything else was girl.

i played baseball with a woman who was all man. In getting to know her she was born a hermaphidite. As a baby he/she had the surgery to make her a girl. Wrong decisision. Her father had been a minister. It destroyed the family and he left as the stance in the church was so militant. Now they wait til the child is 4-5 to to decide gender. Not all choose homosexuality. We cannot judge by outward appearances. I have learned to listen to the Holy Spirit on case by case as someone comes into my sphere of influence. I do not lump everyone in one simple category, because you can't. When I pray it is different for each one. Not all are the same or equal. I believe we have to be more spiritually in tune with the Holy Spirit when it comes to this.

My mother interned at Cook General in Chicago and she will never forget the baby who was born with both both female and male body parts. She prayed God would take the baby and the parents were absolutely devastated, what could they tell family and friends, everyone wants to know is it a boy or girl? The baby lived one week and passed on. So not all is as it appears to the eye on the surface.

Hopefully this will generate more indepth discussion and realize it is not cut and dry in dealing with people whom God loves too. blessings

This is a fallen world
As such there are some true demonic things in this world
I would have to assume that these people
nice, kind and dear that they
had to be afflicted with demons of Homsexuality
even at birth.
That does not mean, they do not have a choice
it may mean they have a burden
but always a choice.
Homosexuality is an abomination in Gods sight
thus the destruction of sodom
where we get the word sodomy.
I think it is as clear cut
as there is one way to heaven
Jesus Christ

sonrise-

Interesting what you shared, but that still does not change the fact, even if hormonal imbalances have brought out some bits more of the opposite gender than in most cases, that is a chemical situation, not normally found. Thus, those are unusaul cases at best.

All that has to be done is, read the statistics about the rise of impurities human's ingest daily, to see why such anomolies are more prevelant today than in recorded centuries past.

God and Christ foretold of such things would only grow more prevelant as time goes on thru these "Last Days".

And there is all manner of strange types of births, from attached twins, deformities more than we can count, plus more. Yet, it is because of the physical world rebeling of the way man without God, as a majority, is dealing with our existance and lack of respect for this world we live in.

God Bless!!

Sonrise,
You hit a home-run. I know you were not talking about chemcal imbalances, hormones or statistics, but fresh revelation from the Holy Spirit on a couple of particular instances. Forgive me Lord, if I have lableled people. I do not know their hearts, only You do.

The scripture that comes to mind here is....."as in the days of Noah.."

God's judgement is coming. And it is going to come to America. We have kicked God out of our churches and schools (no, not every church or school), we have kicked God out of our government.

We have forsaken our first love and replaced it with the love of self. Self-actualization, self-esteem, self-help. We make excuses for all sorts of sin and crime and blame it on low self-esteem. What? The self-help industry alone is a $6 Billion a year industry. And after all is said and done the answer is not found in self-help, but only in the help and love of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Help us Lord to walk in the Spirit this day, and not in the flesh.

I feel if we as a Christian society turn our backs on these 'sinners' then we are sinning just as they are. How are they going to learn what is acceptable in GOD'S eyes if we as Christians don't show them the way? Who are we to cast the first stone??? Love they neighbor as thy love thyself? If they are plaqued with the spirit of homosexuality due to the devil, then aren't we suppose to come together as one to help rebuke this devil out of this person's life to help them get on the straight and narrow towards the kingdom of heaven, or leave them bewildered and confused and basically handing them over to the devil? I rather help them learn the scripture of the bible and let them know that what they feel is 'normal' is not normal in the eyes of GOD, and allow them to know if continuing this lifestyle that it is not pleasing to GOD, and that they will not see the gates of glory in the kingdom of heaven but yet the wrath of hell.

All of you shared valuable insights here. Bit, there are three major points God has taught me needed in such situations.

1- Prayer over the person for discernment of thier particular situation.

2- Counciling to find where the "root" of each particular person's afliction stems from.

3- Testing, if found to be from hormonal imbalances.

There are clear cut cases of both Spiritual battles and hormonal conflicts that can bring about such problems. As such, because Jesus even had a doctor on His Disciplship Staff, it is a True child of God's responcibility to seek God's Guidance if put in a position of helping afflicted people to do what God knows best for them.

We are not called by God to jump and judge others as Moses had jumped the gun with God's Guidance and do something detrimental for another. We are called to be faithful and patient in God's showing those involved how to deal with situations.

After all, Jesus neither cast demons out of all people afflicted or out right healed them. He was lead by the Spirit to discern the Truth of each situation and act accordingly..

Remember, even Christ did not do His own Will, but the Will of the Father- God. Christ was Ministered to by Angels after His 40 day fast, then, God had the Holy Spirit descend upon Him in the form of a dove after His water baptism.

Thus, its not our selfish will we want or think best, but God's Will, for anyone He may have us help, to be done.

Now, as far as God being kicked out of everywhere, not true. You'll find most schools allow for students to hold Bible studies etc during school, so long as not interfering with normal school operations.

We may have struggles going on to remove particular aspects of God from our Government, for 1- those original words have not been removed from our money. 2- We have a saved and reborn Christian as a President.

So, the struggles are there, but God is clearly not kicked out of anywhere here in the US. He still has access to all facets of or lives here, it just relates to how much we allow him to be involed directly with Satan's struggles against God.

God Bless!!
