Shouldn't I be able to access my pictures folder that's on my desk top computer from my lap top?
When I go on websites to look at pictures or art, I can no longer find the "save" option. I used to be able to save a good number of them, and I have some awesome pics over on the desk top computer.
I want to access that folder to use some of those in my posts here.

Jeri,
Is there a little hand holding the icon of the folder you are trying to access? If not, then you need to right click it, go to 'Sharing and Security' and enable sharing.
If that isn't the problem, then maybe your firewall isn't set up for network sharing. PM me and I'll send you some instructions. Carol can also help you (I think).

Carol is still working on beating her own two systems into submission so that they will talk to each other... sigh... my puter is willing to talk but my husband's puter is remaining mute... ARGH!!!!!

I did go to a place that said "Sharing and Security" or the like. But it wouldn't seem to enable sharing. I don't recall right clicking to get there, though. Hmmm. . . . I can check on that. I didn't see a hand.
Oh, by the way, does my other computer have to be fired up for this to work? If so, I don't think it was.
My niece and sister informed me Yahoo! will let me get pics of the ocean and light houses (I can save them to a folder when I go through Yahoo!). Ocean and lighthouse pictures are one of my screen savers on the other computer. I haven't been over there to collect any yet, but my niece got a butterfly picture through Yahoo!, so she told me about this. Don't know what's up with the MSN search page, now. They let me use at least half the pictures in the past from the art.com and posters.com sites.
Thanks for the advice. Didn't realize anyone had posted.

Our computer whiz friend says we can't do it because of too many fire walls being turned on. I went to the network sharing center, and they told me fire wall had to be turned on for each of the options. . . . It's confusing as to where to go to turn the firewalls on to the same settings. My big computer won't fire up right now, so need to trouble shoot that first. I have no clue what the problem is there; it was working fine the last time I tried it.

We got it to work. . . .only my desk top won't fire up now.
What does "No signal" mean besides the computer isn't powering up? How do I fix it? I tried plugging it directly into the wall instead of into the battery back up. No go. I put a new cable chord in, as the old one seemed to get the little fan or wheel in the back spinning when I pressed it in tighter. Some kind of connection is not being made somewhere. . . .
I guess I'll be going over to Yahoo! to find some pictures.
I hope this new computer has the "Paint" program.

JeriRose-
Depends. If laptop is on a wireless, it could be a loose connection to your transciever box for sending and recieving your wireless signal. It could be, by the sound of another action starting when push on connection, there could be a short in your inlet plug for the internet connection cable.
Sometimes in laptops, they mount the inlet internet plugs on the same board as some electronics or soldered connections are mounted in. so if plug a connection in and out very much, that mounting board can come loose or start to bend alittle with that action, which causes internal connections to touch and short, that normally are seperated.
