Navy Veteran's Funeral Tomorrow

I have to speak at a funeral tomorrow...Woody, an 80 year old retired Navy man, passed away, and the family has asked me to speak at his funeral. I spoke at his wife's funeral just last year.

Woody was truly an "old salt", and had his "salty" ways...yet he asked me to pray for him. I am the Chaplain of the local American Legion Post, and many of the veterans there don't know the Lord yet they pay attention when I lead the prayers, and respect God.

Pray the Lord would give me the right words.

Lord-

We pray for your Sheperd, to speak the words of love and comfort, of understanding and compassionate Truth, that your message, thru him, could touch all hearts and minds that which is needed in this situation. In Jesus Name- Amen!!

I pray in agreement for you also, in the name of Jesus.

Thanks so much for your prayers. The Lord really moved in the service, and it was a moving tribute. Many veterans were there, and I had them stand up and we all gave Woody a final salute. Since he was a sailor, I preached out of Acts 27...how the voyage Paul went through relates to our life, and how if we make Jesus our captain, he will safely see us through.

The only song sung was "Amazing Grace', as recorded by Elvis Presley.

May you all be repayed for your kindness in praying.
