How are we to take God's Word?

I know I covered this on its basic foundatonal understanding in another thread, but want to share some daily misconceptions we live with in this day and age.

One of the biggest divisions caused, is that from the way God's Word is interpreted. Now, why should that be a problem? Well, it comes down to, who are God's Children to believe with so many different beliefs about one Scripture reference being taught? Believe God.

Why? Because of so many different beliefs taught about a partcular Scripture or sets of them, we find people now, using Scripture, to allow things that were once sins, to be allowed, that God never condoned. For instance-

* The Sabbath Day- God had instructed the Jews of Old Test. times, to remember the Sabbath Day and keep it Holy, and set it as the last day of the week- Saturday.

But, in the New Test., God teaches Gentiles, Rom. 14:4-6, that we can choose any particular day of rest to honor God and no one else has the right to judge that. Any more, than what we eat, as according to God's Word for what is allowable.

So, wether any person wants to go along with Old Test Teachings, or with New Test Teachings, we are, when in thier presence, to go along with that and accept it. Rom. 14 is all about unity. But, unity can only be achieved if we are following God's Word as He has taught It to us.

How is this mean't to be? God declares to take His Word- "precept upon precept, line upon line". Repeating it, so we will know, we re to take His Word, to mean literally what It says. But....

Because Christ also declares, "upon this rock I shall build My Church", Jesus is saying, by what Peter had claimed- "You are the Messiah", Christ would teach us, all Scriptures confirm and reconfirm themselves, between the Old Test and the New Test.

* Eating meat- Now some who stick to Old Test Teachigs, will only eat particular meats considered as "clean" by God back then. Thats fine, nothing wrong with that and should be accepted by others.

Yet, in the New Test., God shows Peter a vision- Acts 10:9-17, where now, all meats are acceptable to be eaten before God.

The problem is tho, people will argue over such things when one or another wants to go by Old or New Test teachings. ok, so... wheres the unity? Rom. 14 shows we are to be unified in our beliefs, understanding and teachings, that it carries on thru the generations.

* I Cor. 10:23- "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient; all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not".

This is another Scripture that gets alot of misunderstanding when people read it. And, they never think, to read the Scriptures before or after it, to realize the "context" in which it is used. Example-

10:1-6- Examples to us later, for following God and His "Law". Vs 8-12 speaks against more of God's "Law". Thus, the word "Lawful" in v 23, speaks of what God has taught us, as His "Law", is acceptabe for us.

But, some have tried to claim, just because God has condoned a change in some aspects now, He was against before, most if not all things God still speaks against yet, are now acceptable before God, even if at a lesser degree.

In "Jerry's Lessons", you'll find a huge area of subjects covered, people have questioned him about, if ok or not before God. Subjects like, abortion, homosexual or lesbian, drug use or abuse, drinking alcohol, sex outside of marriage, living together, and the list goes on.

All of these subjects, have pertinant Scriptures of which will be discussed in the second part of this sharing, that people will come to understand why such things are still, not acceptable before God, and how they cannot be suggested as being allowed, even under controlled circumstances as- "only doing it alittle is not wrong", as this then proves, all other sinful acts are acceptable to God if only done "alittle".

Any responces are welcome-

God Bless!!

Part 2-

God has set clear peramiters we are to follow, to stay in context to his Teachings. Some say, ok, while alcohol may be bad for us, I Cor. 10:23 allows us to now, at a degree that won't harm us. Well, look at this reference and claim that honestly afterwards-

That lesson of Pastor Jerry's, makes it clear, even tho many have claimed Jesus made wine or drank it Himself, were wrong, and that alcohol, at any amount is more detrimental than neutral, at the least, for our bodies.

The problem here is this, if we should believe things that are bad for us and God does not allow are allowable, to an extent, then we come to a place peole start puhing the issue past that first boundary, over others.

I've heard people say, well, it won't hurt if have sex unarried off and on. Hehe, sorry but, what happened when the open sexual revolution started and has happened over time?

Since it began, the original sexually transmitted diseases we had around, had grown in human cases of them proportionately, to the poplarity of the act being done over the decades. Included in that, is the fact even now, since that Revolution" has been going on for some time now, even more iseases have cropped up, some very deadly.

Oh, but we use protection. Uhuh. Sorry people, all forms of protection against pregnancy are only a percentage safe, theres still a percentage of unsafety, where pregancy can still happen. Secondly, forms like the pill have been suspected of causing birth defects in babies should the woman want to concieve later on, plus other possible problems.

You see, it doesn't matter what aspect we may think we can stretch to believe God will accept to a lesser degree done, He is against it for real reasons.

homosexual or lesbian acts to a lesser degree. Sorry, again, check statistics of the cases of sexually transmitted diseases, thier rise with greater "acts" popularity, as well as newer more deadly diseases popping up as well there too.

Blood products- There are all kinds of Scriptures where God speaks of how the sacraments are, when Blessed, the "Blood of Christ" and "Body of Christ". People sometimes take these Scriptures to mean, the liquid and bread Blessed, becomes the actual Body and Blood of Jesus.

Mk. 14:24, Lk.22:20 among all others, are used to claim this. But, Jesus was speaking symbolically. Why? Acts 15:20 and read in Deut. where God speaks against taking in blood products. Instead, notice, Christ tells us in those Scriptures of Mk and Lk, to do this in rememberance of Him, ceremonial. That means its only symbolic.

But, some people like to eat raw to barely cooked meats. Thats fine, but you see, God was not only against the drinking of blood in Old Test and New Test times because heathen worshippers of false gods did this, it was also, because God knew, uncooked meats, still have live bacterias and other orgnisms, that are still alivein it and can make us sick.

Fully cooked meats are thus, not so much cleansed of that stuff, but it is killed, so that it cannot adversely effect our bodies.

When God teaches us in His Word, He uses specific ways to share with us, to understand rightly, that we are not misdirected in what He means. Yet, some will try to change a figurative, symbolic or spiritualized Scriture in another way, to allow them to do things, they know full well, are not right before God.

I've had husbands and wives come to me in the past, with marital problems. Telling me as some point later, God brought another man or woman to them, they just knew was the right one and the one they were still married to was the wrong one.

Some were swayed back to understanding God's Truth that God would never Himself do anything to break up that which He condones or "brought together". Yet others, divorced thier spouces, went after this other "Gift of God" they called them, only to come back later with horror stories of just how bad things got after so long.

This includes the sillyness of living together. The excuse alot use is, we can find out if are compatible. Ahuh, ok. What happens? Hehe, well, they end up in fights, or the girl gets pregnant and the guy leaves or they get married and live miserably. Why?

Becase from the very start, they went against God all the way. This is why God sets His standards as He does. If we follow them as we should, not make excuses and do wrong, but hold to Truth and do as He declares, He will Bless us, particularly if stay in His Word, praying always for his guidance and leading of us on His path chosen for us.

God loves and delights in haing the ability to direct our paths, that when we fall unto diverse temptations, when we are weak and seek his hel, He leads us thru it as overcomers. And this over time, helps us to grow closer to God and grow in Him.

I pray this helps-

God bless!!
