The Enemies Ambush

Over here in Norway they've been playing the movie United 93 on one of the film channels over and over. I was thinking in relation to that day, as one of the days in history when America was taken by surprise or ambushed by an enemy from within. Sneak attacks have been part of warfare throughout history. It is a strategy and can be used very effectively. Catching your enemy off guard gives you a tremendous advantage. In our spiritual lives, we are often the target of an ambush by Satan, and God has warned us to be prepared, to be ready so we are not caught off guard. Incredibly, it seems to be when we are most susceptible to the ambush is when we are strongest. When things are going well, when we are on top of the things going on in our lives. We can get lulled into a false sense of self-confidence. We can get lax. We can forget to do the things we did that made us strong. That is when we are the most ripe to be ambushed.
As God warned the prophets of old, today He is warning us. Be prepared. Keep watch. The battle is never over and when you least expect it is when the enemy will attack. This is not meant to scare you or have you living in fear wondering what will happen next. This is to prepare you for the inevitable. As long as you are living, loving God, and serving God, you are going to be a target. All God wants you to do is be prepared. The way you do that is by maintaining that close, personal daily relationship with Him, battling the sin in your life each day so the enemy has no foothold in your life, and fulfilling God's purpose for your life by serving Him each day, loving others, and helping others.
Pastor Jerry has spoken about putting on the whole armour of God every day. Trust me, the ambush and the attacks are not going to stop. Prepare for them now, because once you are in the middle of the fight, it is tough to think and to respond the way you need to respond to be victorious.
I really believe that God loves us and has given us all the tools we need to be victorious. We just have to make sure that we have our armour on each day and we're perpared for what comes. God's power is greater than Satan's when we turn to Him and let Him fight our battles for us.
