A friend of mine are getting their Concealed Handgun License.
Wondered if anyone here had thought on this subject?
I just read Luke 22:36...Anyone have an interpretation on this on?
Thanks in advance.

Luke 22:36- It was an example to the disciples, that once Christ should leave, they needed to be prepared for thier future travels, going without Christ- (Groom) being with them- v 35. Read also the story of the 10 Virgins.
Also the Scriptures about putting on the whole Armor of God to repel Satan's firey darts- (attacks), reading and learning God's Word to show ourselves approved in rightly dividing Truth.
Lastly, taking thier purse, scrip, shoes etc, thier journys would be going far reaching, outside Jewish settlements- (Paul speaks to one Church how he recieved necessities from the Churh where he was at, in order to save the one going to from needing to care for his needs). So, the purse was for holding monetary blessings from God for thier journeys, thier scrip was for writing Churches at a distance for helping them as required, shoes because of much more extensive travels to protect thier feet, sword was God's Word.
The swords- vs 48-53, v 51 in particular. One last lesson to the Disciples of love and forgiveness.
Spiritual interpretation is God calls His Word the "Sword". Look at v 51 for the power of God's Word from both ways, how It can either deal boldly with evil, or can forgive and heal completely as well.
Men will be tempted to jump and strike out when feel threatened or in anger, but Jesus forgave even those who came with weapons against a physcally unarmed man and healed the servants ear completely.
Your title speaks of "Guns in Church", but your statement was about the "concealed hangun license". Do you fear some will bring thier weapons into Church? I'd have to re-read this Law, but as I remember, regardless wether they can wear concealed weapons, there are still laws for establishments that do not allow even concealed weapons to enter thru thier doors into the establishment.
Basically the same as the smoking law here in Minnesota. You can sit outside and smoke all you want, but no longer can you smoke inside public places.
I wouldn't worry about that unless a situation comes up. Why bring guns into a Church? Don't make sense.
God Bless!!

"Our Lord gave notice of a very great change of circumstances now approaching. The disciples must not expect that their friends would be kind to them as they had been. Therefore, he that has a purse, let him take it, for he may need it.
They must now expect that their enemies would be more fierce than they had been, and they would need weapons. At the time the apostles understood Christ to mean real weapons, but he spake only of the weapons of the spiritual warfare. The sword of the Spirit is the sword with which the disciples of Christ must furnish themselves."

Now as far as guns in the church: A very large church in San Antonio has "suits" (armed guards) stationed at the altar with gun belts under their jackets. After service the Pastor has a meet-and-greet line in the back of the church. The suits make no attempt to hide the fact that they are carrying handguns, and not afraid to use them. This comes after the Pastor gave a talk on Spiritual Warfare and somenone took out a gun and fired four or 5 shots at him, all missing!
Now as far as the congregation being armed, I do not think it is a good idea. Cell phones in the church are bad enough! What next, metal detectors at the entrance to the church like the schools?

Thanks for your replies. I'd never given much thought to guns before, nor did I grown up around them.
Eagle4him, I had heard John Hagee's incredible testimony of the bullets missing him. God's protection is amazing! Once a large bird swooped down and eat a poisonous snake right in front of me. That was quite a sight to see.
Thanks for letting me bring this subject up. It's not something I fear, but I do hope we don't hear about anymore attacks in churchs like the one in Colorado.
