I once was asked to leave the chuch grounds because I was so severely unaccepted.

that is so awful...well if you went to my church and told my pastor youdidn't believe in God. you would get a debate, but he would love you and accept you anyways. thats why i go to my church though b/c the people aren't idiots and understand that everyone has different out looks and comes from different walks of life. thats the kind of church you need to find. and trust me its not easy

Well, of course I have felt unaccepted or lonely at some point in time. Hasn't everyone? I found some things that I was good at and enjoyed doing and I felt a lot better. Plus, someone that is a very good friend helped me out a lot. She is an antheist as well, and I appreciated the fact that someone with beliefs such as that have kindness. The only thing that I want to do is really to be remembered for doing something that changed someone's life, hopefully for the positive, but if not just as well.

No, David, I don't live in the UK. I want to visit there, but I do not live there. I live right across the bridge from Louisville, Kentucky in Indiana. Some how, some way, people have come to know me in a bad way. Sure I make fun of certain religious groups (primarily Jehovas Witnesses, sorry for those I offend but stop coming to my house), I also have a quick mind when it comes to insults. I have paid the price a little bit for having such a quick mind and such through school when someone said something about how god wasn't a man or female, and I, being an atheist and not particularly liking the person, said "So is god a hermaphridite?" Needless to say I got slapped in the face for such a remark and got 2 days detention for some reason, but hey hey o well, gotta do my homework somewhere.

I also wonder what it'd be like if I ever met any of you in real life. That'd be an interesting meetings if you ask me. Having a completely different thought about the person then what they acctually are. Anyway, need to find a bass trombone to rent. Later.

I know what would happen if you came in my presence or midst and we met, I would give you a hug then from the Glory of God being on me and the anointing it would manifest demons and devils in you, then the Holy Spirit would cast them out and you would be free, then you would ask Jesus to come into your heart as result because whom the son sets free is free indeed and you will only desire to be filled with more of his Glory and fire anointing and he would fill you more and then you would go declare to the nations there is a God and he has set you free!! thats what would happen if you saw me in person, because wherever I go demons and every fowl spirit is bound from me just walking in the room or wherever I go from the anointing being so thick in me and on me, because greater is he who dwells in me than he who is in the world, yep so am ready to meet yu, lets meet and then let the anointing fall on you and manifest demons in you then let the Holy Spirit rip them out of you and set you free in his power oh the glory thank you Jesus

If Brother Storm and Born Again Pagan still venture into this thread:

8Now it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh.

15And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it."
16So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, "It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace."

26The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, "Are you able to make known to me the dream which I have seen, and its interpretation?"
27Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, "The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king. 28But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these.... (Daniel 2:26-28)

7Then the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers came in, and I told them the dream; but they did not make known to me its interpretation. 8But at last Daniel came before me (his name is Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god; in him is the Spirit of the Holy God), and I told the dream before him, saying: 9"Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, because I know that the Spirit of the Holy God is in you, and no secret troubles you, explain to me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and its interpretation. (Daniel 4:7-9)

13 Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king spoke, and said to Daniel, "Are you that Daniel who is one of the captives[2] from Judah, whom my father the king brought from Judah? 14I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you. 15Now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing and make known to me its interpretation.... (Daniel 5:13-15)

(I apologize ahead of time if any of this is a repeat, but I feel compelled to share this. You say you don't believe in God, therefore will you believe these words from the Word of God, the Bible? But the word of God is powerful!!! So I will post this and trust God to do the rest. And, Lord, if it does not reach any here, let a newcomer see this post and let it reach him/her).

I am not going to say the normal thing about how Jesus will make you happy or argue as to whether you're happy now. I am going to ask you this: Do you consider yourself a good person? According to the following scriputre, none of us is good:

16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?"
17So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:16-17)

And what are those commandments?

TEN COMMANDMENTS:

You shall have no other gods before Me
You shall not make any idol and worship it
You shall not take the name of the Lord in vain
Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy
Honor your father and mother
You shall not kill
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal
You shall not lie
You shall not covet

In Matthew it says:

(3) 21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, "You shall not murder,[1] and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.' 22But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause[2] shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, "Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, "You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire. (Matthew 5:21-22)

27 "You have heard that it was said to those of old,[3] "You shall not commit adultery.'[4] 28But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. (Matthew 5:27-30)

So even if you've done these things in your thoughts, you are guilty.

Why am I telling you this? Because the issue is not your happiness. The issue is: If you have offended God by breaking his laws, wouldn't you want to escape the punishment you deserve (hell), whether you were happy or not? And why would I be emphasizing the benefits of being a Chrisitan without stressing the benefit that you won't have to burn in hell?

So, why would I tell you you are deserving of hell? Because all of us are. But I don't tell you this to condemn you. I tell you this to explain to you that someone already paid the fine that you owed for breaking the law: Jesus. You see, it's as though you owed a $50,000 fine and the judege asked you if you were guilty and thought you should pay the fine. You had to agree you were guilty and should pay the fine. Then, the judge tells you that someone had just come into the courtroom and paid the fine for you and you were free to go, because that person was your Friend and He loved you (of course, I mean Jesus).

17For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:17)

The punishment for breaking God's law is death and eternal separation from God.

23For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

36He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." (John 3:36)

14Blessed are those who do His commandments,[7] that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. 15But[8] outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (Revelation 22:14-15)

7He who overcomes shall inherit all things,[4] and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8But the cowardly, unbelieving,[5] abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." (Revelation 21:7-8)

I know this is a point on which many of you get mad. Why would I be condemning you to hell? But here is what the Bible (not me!!!) says:

18"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:18)

12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. (1 John 5:12)

23And He said to them, "You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." (John 8:24)

By rejecting Jesus, you condemn yourself to hell -- or remain in the condemned state we are all in from breaking God's law.

Why I am I belabouring this point that we broke God's law and are deserving of punishment? Because a very wise man explained to me recently that if I only share the good news (that Jesus will give you life and peace and joy and love) you will get saved, not because you are truly repentent, but simply for the benefits. He said if a person only gets saved because they heard how much it would help them live this life, but they had no idea of the coming jugement that Jesus had helped them escape, they would bail out when the going got tough. If anyone laughed at them, scoffed at them, ridiculed them, they would say "I'm out of here." But if they TRULY realized that their was hell to shun and heaven to gain, they would be more apt to stay with Jesus. What was a little joy, peace, love in this life time if they had to endure hardship? But if they are thinking in an ETERNAL persepctive -- of burning in hell forever, of being separated from God forever -- they would stay with Jesus, because they would have full knowledge of what He had done for them and what He had delivered them from. He said the reason so many quit when the ride gets bumpy is because they never truly repented. How can I share with you good news, if you don't even know there is bad news?

Now, that I've told you the bad news, here is the good news: Jesus died in your place (took your punishment) so you would not have to. He also went to hell, so you would not have to.

14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:15-17)

6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. (Romans 5:6-11)

18Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.
20Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness (Romans 5:18-20)

9that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." (Romans 10:9-11)

9(Now this, "He ascended"--what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

From there, it's up to you. It says above the "unbelieving shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." (Revelation 21:7)

Some will argue that it is not loving for me to tell you this. But it is not loving for me not to warn you. I have one wish, and that wish compells me. I feel like God does:

9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[2] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

well guys, someone finally answered my question in the right way that i've been looking for. A good friend of mine did finally. And I have decided to accept God into my life. So I may or may not come back who knows. But I still hold my beliefs about evolution, just now that the creation process may have been a little different then in the Bible. Bye.

Bob, tell us what happened, if you want to. It is clear that you enjoy science and this is good. There are many books out there that are written by brilliant Christian scientists and they can help you understand how science, the scientific process' of evolution( I am not referring to men coming from monkeys), and the Bible all fit togethor.

I could not have been more off concerning where you live. The UK and Indiana are as opposite as one can get. I was born in Dekalb, Illinois and I know the area, cornfields in every direction.

First of all congratulations ! You have done the most important step. When I became a christian I also doubted genesis, but you'll maybe change your mind as you grow.
I have seen a lecture on DVD from a german professor who is into biology and all that stuff. He is a christian and he talked about the evolutionary theory and basically all the stuff which we read in our biology books in school is wrong. There are no missing links between apes and the homo sapiens. Back in the 80ies they thought that the homo erectus was a link, but he is not a link.He is completely human. He had a smaller brain but he is completely human. The other links which they thought were links turned out to be apes, so basically we have no links at all. Also it has never been able to even create a simple protein under big band conditions. They have been doing these tests for 50 years now and they have never been able to create a protein or DNA or RNA.The scientists of today are not much wiser than Darwin was, they still have the same problems and don't know any answers. Also Louis Pasteur also proved in the 19th century that life can never evolve from dead matter and this is still valid. The problem is that evolutionary scientists do not want a God, they do everything to prove that there is no God involved in life, this is their problem. They keep creating new theories just to justify their views. Evolution is a lie and all the people believe it. No normal scientist would even dare saying anything against evolution cause this would make him look ridiculous.Another thing is that information never developes out of nothing. DNA is information. Behind every information there is an intelligent sender.
This book here is really interesting:

Yes I also would like to know what this friend told you.
Becoming a christian and then leaving this board doesn't make much sense, however the most important thing is that you're saved.

He didn't explain it with circular reasoning. I have been waiting for someone to do that before I even considered. Why will I not be coming back? Most likely because I am still considered a non-believer, in which case I cannot post in any other thread. So, untill then this is it.

No I am sure JG will talk to you all will be well Love yu God Bless, hey I am proud of you Bob, do you mind if I say a prayer for you and you join in to?

Bob, why don't you try to post somewhere else now...see if it works.

Posted by: david arroyo

What is circular reasoning?

Posted by: talena

circular reasoning is assuming something to be true before you can prove it.

circular reasoning is used in almost every argument/statement ever made. That same thing goes for evolution and other theories. ALL conclusions are derived from assumptions, so anyone that has ever argued has used circular reasoning at some point.

I hope that helps.

none of that matters, as long as bob got the answer he was looking for.

I went to church while I was growing up and at one time I could quote a lot of things from the bible. That time has passed and I no longer go to church and many of the things I knew fail me. But I do remember one lesson that I learned. The true church welcomes those that are unbelievers and lacking in faith. If the only people that came to church (or a prayer board like this) were already saved, then the unsaved people would never stand a chance. The reason for a church is not just to strenthen the faith of the saved but to save those that have lost there way.

What I'm saying is that my faith in God is faulty and I'm at a difficult time in my life. I desperately need to have my faith renewed and ask all that they pray that this will happen. Perhaps Bob is in the same position. Why would anybody bother logging onto a prayer board like this one if they didn't have at least a slight desire to find some type of belief and faith in God. I say that everybody should welcome Bob with open arms. Don't preach to him but rather make him feel the glory of God through pure love. I may be wrong, but I, for one, will be praying that Bob finds what he is searching for. And I'm asking that you people that are close to God will also pray for Bob and myself that the Lord will work his miracle and come into our lives.

I'm not sure which icon you are talking about.
If you mean the picture of Jesus carrying the cross, that is a universal signature that Jerry now uses in order to get people's attention.
It changes quite frequently.

"little" brother bob,

Welcome to the family! I want you to know that I sat up for 5 hours, from midnight to 5am to read all 400+ posts on this thread just to see what would happen to you.
You remind me so muh of me when I was 16, Bob. I laughed at every Christian I met..especiallly the more "on fire" ones. You couldn't convince me that the Bible was inerrant or that miracles happened in this day and age..
Well, it was a long road for me..(someday I will post in detail my story) but, praise God, I never walked that path alone and neither will you, Bob.
You didn't believe in miracles when you came here, but look now..You're a miracle! Thank you for allowing all of us to see that.
Far too many Christians think that the Christian life is a spontaneous, life-altering occurance and if their lives don't immediately improve, perhaps the salvation "didn't take". What many don't realize is that salvation is the event when we can never again be separated from God...sanctification is a the process by which we grow in our relationship with God and eachother. It is a process..My pastor says it is a marathon, not a sprint.
Now what I feel impressed to caution you, Bob is this.
Satan is real and he comes to "steal, kill, and destroy.." John 10:10..
You are now a threat to him, espacially considering your intelligence..I think your scientific mind could draw many skeptics to Christ.
Rememeber Satan is "a liar and the Father of lies." John 8:44. He is also called the accuser and will try hard to condemn you and tell you you are nothing. That is a lie from the pit of hell! You are someone..God does love you and you have worth! Remember this when trials come.
Please seek out mature Christians to disciple you and find a Bible- believing church to join...pray for guidance. Maybe one with an exciting youth-group. I know here at my church in Seattle our youth go on fun trips and see Christian concerts, even ska..There is a Christian punk rock tour that happens every year. My friend, Rosie's son, who plays in a band, Remnant Soldier (check out the web site..do a Goggle search..don't have link handy..sorry), goes to this every year- If you want I will find out more for you.
Finally, remember this...Do not alow the world to deceive you, Bob. They define peace as the absense of conflict and, looking around and seeing strife, they assume God either doesn't exist or doesn't care. We live by another standard and another set of definitions. To a Christian peace is not the absense of conflict, but strength in the midst of it. Jesus is that strength and all you ever have to do is ask.
I love you, Bob..I don't even know you, but I love you because we're all members of the same family.

God's peace and blessings to you now and always!
~Tammie

Hey Dreamweaver-

Nice to see you back after so long. I actually came in after you apparently left. WELCOME BACK!! hehe.

Don't know if noticed, but it says "banned" under Bob's postings, so he can no longer post here. It seems he must have said something that went against posting rules, so..."that took care of that" it would seem.

Wish you all the best in God thru Christ!!

God Bless!!
