Nephew starting Marines training

My nephew, Joshua, 19, left for basic training yesterday. I think he was staying in a hotel last night and flying out today to San Diego. Or did he fly out last night?

I guess you stay up for three days straight with no sleep....and he was sick yeterday with some kind of stomach flu.

I pray that he is up to the rigors of training and that he passes.

I pray he is protected and safe during training, as you do hear of accidents with military equipment.

I also pray his faith becomes solid. He has a spirit of confusion now because his Dad went off into this cult teaching, pretty much like Gonsticism (spiritualizing everything, so they believe your spirit is pure, therefore it doesn't matter what your flesh does). Joshua says as long as you have some religion it doesn't matter which one. Not sure what he, personally, believes. Is he just saying this because he's firing for affect (something he does a lot)? Or does he believe this? He was given a Marine's Bible and said if he can't take his personal Bible, he can get one down there. So, he does want a Bible to read.

I so want to see him be a success at this, as he wants this so bad. I pray the difficulty of the situation causes him to call on God and establish a strong relationship with Him! He has no contact with family (well, I think he can write letters) for three months of training. So, I pray he calls on God in the tough times and sees how God gets him through!

Dear Lord, I pray for Joshua to do well in basic training. I pray he is able to physically push through and have the stamina for the rigors. I pray he can stand up under the pressure of the commanding officer. I pray he is able to get the discipline, such as keeping berracks clean and everything in perfect order and all that....Give him that "Going give it my all" attitude all the way through. I pray he is succesful in this and passes so he can officially be a Marine.

Lord, I pray this spirit of confusion leaves Joshua, and that he KNOWS what he believes and stands up strong for it! I pray this time away from family telling him what to believe is a time he decides what HE believes. I pray he reads the Bible and goes to chapel. I pray he understands fully that following Jesus and His Word is the only true relgion...but, of course, NOT a religion but life changing relationship. Let him embrace faith in You whole heartedly.

I ask for proteciton, always. Angels always around him, and Your blood covering him. Let Your Holy Spirit wall of fire be around him for a hedge of protection. Let our prayers cover him. (Stop the affects of any "prayers" his Dad might pray!!!). I pray a wedge is placed between he and this stuff his Dad is touting for spiritual protection. But we ask for physical protection, his physical life kept safe.

Lord-

We pray for Joshua, that you would guide and protect him and lea him thru all activities of this training to give him strength, wisdom and knowledge to hold up thru all this. We pray he will pass thru this phase, from being a recruit to being a true Marine and Glorify you, that you may edify him and his family. In Jesus Name- Amen!!

Lord, I ask for Joshua's strength as he was sick when he left, and we are all sick here and dealing with feeling yucky and weak. I pray this quickly subsides and he no longer feels sick.

I ask that he passes basic training. Make him equal to what's asked of him. I pray when the going gets tough, he will lean on You for strength. Draw him close to You at this time, so he can have Your help in all things. I pray he can withstand the pressures of the "breaking down" by the drill sargent.
Let him be able to put up with all the pressures involved in the entire process.

Lord, I pray for angels to protect him and Your blood to be around him. And I ask the fire of The Holy Spirit to be a hedge of protection around him. Let our prayers cover him. Keep him physically safe for no mishaps through training.

I pray he is mentally healthy as well. Give him the mental strength to deal with what soldiers deal with.

I ask that he truly does graduate and that we can go watch him.

Lord, I pray for Josh to pass basic training. Whatever else happens, I pray he makes it through and becomes a real Marine. If his reasons are misguided, I pray that he will realize the real reason is to defend our country...and keep America free.

If this is not what You want for him, I pray he realizes that and is willing to adjust to whatever You do want.

Lord, I pray for his safety and protection all the way through, angels, blood, Holy Spirit and prayers protecting him.

I pray he has a strong relationship with You as a result of what he goes through in boot camp. Let him read the Marine's Bible,and I pray he attends chapel. Let him find YOU in a real way in his life!

Lord, give Joshua grace, strength and patience to deal with what happens at basic training today. I pray he can do well no matter what they ask of him. I pray he will handle it in the way they want. Let this be a day of success on his way to becoming more than a recruit.

Continue protecting him today and every day by Your blood, by Your angels, by Your Holy Spirit and by our prayers.

Lord, I ask that his relationship with You grows strong during this time. Let him chose faith in Jesus Christ and the truth of Your Word once and for all. Send the right words/sermons/scriptures/people that covince him that his Dad's ways are wrong. Let him chose Christianity.

We know we have the petitions we ask if we ask anything according to Your will....so let all be accepting of Your will if you have other plans for Joshua.

I do feel this is what You want for him, and I pray he IS successful in passing training. I pray for him to realize during the training what the right reasons for joining the military are. Let him come through this growing and maturing in all the ways he needs to be a successful adult.

Lord, I pray for Joshua to grow close to You at this time in his life. Let the toughness of basic training cause him to draw near to You. I pray he finds that he needs You desperately to make it through. Let his biggest success be building a close, intimate relationship with You. I pray YOU are the REAL prize his eye is after. May his focus change from wanting to pass to being a real Marine so others will be proud of him to wanting to pass to being a real solider in the army of the Lord that others may be proud of YOU. I remember those days when he SO wanted to be a missionary. How awesome was that dream! I pray, Lord, that You will show him plainly what YOU want for him and that he will choose that in his life.

I do pray he does well and passes basic training. I pray he can deal with the rigors and the mental stress. I pray he is made equal to the task by YOU. I pray, Lord, that he gives you the glory, as The One Who helped him through and The Reason he made it through. Give him success in all areas of basic training. But, also, Lord, remind him that You may have other things for him and that the Marines are not all there is in life to aspire to.

I pray for his safety and proteciton all ways all days. I ask that You keep the angels active, the blood covering, the prayers continual and The Holy Spirit around. Totally keep him every step of the way, so he comes through protected physcially, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Protect him every way needed.

I pray, Lord, that we receive a good report of his graduating.

Prepare him and make him ready for The Crucible. I pray he can get through that phase successfully! I pray he knows he needs YOU. I pray he understands he can't do this on his own! Show him how You will help him through! Let him lean on You for help in that difficult juncture of the training.

Lord, this is a wonderful journey for this young man. Equip him well to fulfill the tasks of his duties of serving his country. Lord, please him and keep him safe during training. Dear Lord, I pray that Joshua is doing well at boot camp. Continue to help him through each day and each exercise put before him. I pray he does well on all. I pray he does as expected and better than expected. Before leaving, he wasn't much into physical fitness. So help him to have the stamina and strength to complete the things they ask of him. I pray for a strong, mental capability in dealing with the drill sargent. I pray he can come through without breaking. Help him to obey and be respectful.

Lord, I pray he draws close to You during this time. I pray he matures spiritually as well as naturally. Let him grow up in You in so many ways. I pray all see new maturity on him. I pray he doesn't get an attitude, as I noticed on the young man I worked with who went through Marines training. I pray You work out in him an attitude of humilty rather than one of pride. You know what I mean....Let us see spiritual fruit in his life when he comes out of this. May he truly and really be filled with Your Spirit during this time. I don't know if he has ever fully surrendered to You, and I pray that he will in the next few weeks. Call him to Your side in a new relationship that he has never had before.

Protect and keep him. I pray Your angels are around him continually from basic training onwards. I pray he has Your Holy Spirit fire hedge of protection. I ask that our prayers are a covering and that Your blood is a covering. Keep him now and always, whehter here or overseas or wherever he is stationed or deployed.

Lord, I pray that Joshua completes basic training and graduates into being a Marine. I pray You give him strength to deal with the rigors, pressures and stresses of all he has to do. Bring him through each exercise successfully.

I pray he draws close to You at this time, developing a strong relationship with You and finding his dependence on You. Show him that You will help him through.

I pray for his continued protection thruogh training and all future times as a Marine. Keep him under Your blood, surrounded by Your angels, covered by our prayers and encompassed by Your Spirit.

Father we lift up Joshua to you. Give him favor as he goes through basic training. Draw him close to you Lord. Hook him up with a Christian friend Lord. Allow him to feel your presence as he goes through basic training, his schooling and after he receives his orders. Use him Lord to bring others into the kingdom. Thank you all for your prayers for, Joshua.

I am trying to stay commited to daily prayer for him.

Lord, I continue to pray for Joshua's success in becoming a Marine. I pray he makes it all the way through training and graduates the course into being a Marine.

I pray he draws near to You, so You may draw near to him. Let his relationship with You solidfy, grow and mature. May his dependance on You be necessary, leading Him to lean on You in this time, which causes him to grow closer to You. Make the stresses and pressures just the kind that cause him to realize he can't get through this without help (and quitting is not an option in his mind!) -- YOUR help!

I pray You place all forms of proteciton around him and keep him protected always, during training and beyond. Protect his mind and emotions through everything he goes through in training and in being a soldier. Keep his mind STRONG in You, not leading him to mental problems as a result of what he experiences.

Dear Lord, I pray that You will help Joshua each and every day in boot camp....even when he is not aware. I pray he will pass all the things put before him. Let him really and truly become a Marine. Work this in his favor.

I pray he reads his Marine Bible and attends chapel, and I ask You to put Godly people into his life to encourage him in You -- somone he can really respect. Please erase, during this time, the affects of his Dad's false teachings. Let the doctrines of demons be defeated! Remove the spirit of confusion from him and let the truth of Your Word triumph! Let him accept the truth that "Whosover believes in Him will not perish" and not the other stuff his Dad added to this. Let him be able to say, "No, Dad, all I have to do is believe in what He did for me on the cross." I pray he will come out of this able to stand up to his Dad like the time he said, then why did Jesus need to die if reincarnation is right? And the time he said how did his Dad know that it was who was of Satan and not him? Give him a PURE fiath in the TRUTH of scripture! I pray he becomes strong in refuting false teaching wherever he sees it.

Lord, I ask for You to protect, guard and keep him always all days in all ways. I pray he will be ever encompassed by angels. I pray Your Spirit, Your blood and our prayers are a continual protection. Let him be kept MENTALLY as well as physically. I pray he doesn't break mentally from the stress of basic training or what he sees in the future as a Marine in active duty. Please protect him from the post traumatic stress disorder that so many deal with. Make his mind strengthened and renewed here and now, so he is able to deal with Godly wisdom with the horror and trauma that solider's face. I pray he is covered by our prayers at all times, so he is coming out of these things better and not worse.

Father God, may we hear from Joshua soon, so we know how he is doing.

I pray, Lord, that he doing OK, and they are being as helpful as possible in getting him through. I pray he can do the excersizes and running and other things he is required to do. I pray he holds up under the punressure of the drill sergant's "breaking down" attempts. Let him continue with tenacity and stubborness.

Lord, draw Josha into revival repentance, into true and real salvation. I know he prayed a prayer at some point, but arrest him for You forever! I pray he is under a conviction unto repentance unto a lasting and strong relationship with You. May he come into holy living before a holy God. I pray he is totally changed FOREVER by You!

Lord God, I thank You for putting Your protection around Joshua. I pray Your angels and Your blood are a contiual protection. I pray our prayers put a covering around him and a shield before him. Keep Your Spirit burning around him as a hedge of protection.

Jerirose, as a father of a service member who is serving in Iraq, I can understand your concerns and feel your heartfelt prayers for Joshua. So I will stand in agreement all you prayers and heart desire for Joushua.


Father God, I stand in agreement with all of your child Jerirose prayers for Joshua. Bless him with wisdom, courage, and strength, as he go through basic training, and all of his military career. Bring Godly people into his life, and draw Joshua ever closer to you. Bring peace and comfort to the hearts and lives of Jerirose and family. Bless our military, and the families that support them . Joshua's letters arrived today. He is homesick and asked his mother to write every day. He says even though it's hard, it's also OK. The drill instructor yells all the time, and he has to run three miles a day. . . . He misses home cooked meals and the sleep he got at home. He asked his Mom to pray for him (praise the Lord!). I pray he is reading his Marine's Bible, too.

Dear Lord, thank You for the report and that so far Josh seems to be hanging in there. I pray he makes it through to the end and becomes a Marine. I pray he can survive the running, the yelling, the food, the lack of sleep, the crucible...and all else he is called on to endure.

Lord, I pray he grows close to You in this. He knows he needs prayer, so I pray he is drawing near to You as his hope and help. I pray his relationship with You grows ever stronger and life sustaining for all future life as a Marine.

Lord, I pray his mind is protected from the stuff one deals with in basic training and the stuff one sees when in times of battle. Let his mind be sustained and strong, so he doesn't become a mental basket case, so stressed by the memories of what he saw or went through. Teach him how to have his helmet of salvation on and his mind renewed. Keep him in this apsect of his life.

I pray for physcial proteciton as well. Keep Your angels surrounding Him and Your blood covering Him. I pray Your Holy Spirit burns as a mighty wall of fire of protection around him. Let our prayers keep him.

I have a friend whose son is also
flying out to the same location
to train for the marines in the next day or so.
His name is Lyndale Petty.
Perhaps God will place these two together.

Lord Jesus
I pray for Josh
to grow and walk in You
Keep him safe in every way
Guard him from all attacks spiritually and physically

I lift both of these young men up to you
Draw them close under your wing Jesus
to take refuge in your strength.
Bless them to meet every challenge

Who would know that two young men
from different parts of the world

I pray, Lord, he will grow near to You. Put a Christian friend in his path. I pray what he hears in chapel takes, and I pray he reads his Bible. I pray they are teaching scripture straight forwardly and not trying to make a scipture mean something it doesn't and so on. Let real TRUTH come over his path. Let Joshua experience personal revival, a revival of repentance and putting aside the things of the world. I pray he is becoming hot for You during this time! I know that You bring visitations to Your people, whether corperately or as an individual, and I pray You visit him in a life changing way!

Father, I ask for the protection to be around him now and always. Sorry, it's hard to focus.... I pray that You will see to it that angels are there continually. Father, I pray that Joshua will become a Marine. Help him through basic training successfully so that can happen. I pray he can deal with everything they throw at him. Give him strength, determination and courage.

I pray, most of all, that he is in love with You. Move upon his life with conviction of Your Spirit to repent and get all things right with You. I pray this is what he cares most about. Move into his life in a mighty way right now. Show him that he needs to put You first and do what You want first. Make plain to him that repentence is necessary. Call him to repentence and let him respond. I pray he will want to move all the things out of his life that are not of You. Draw him near, Lord. Draw him close.

I pray for Joshua's protection. Protect him mentally. Protect him physically. I pray he under Your mighty proection in all areas of life. Let there be angels, Your Spirit, Your blood, our prayers all joining to keep him sfae.

Father, bring Joshua safely through to being a Marine. He is now on the rifle range, and I ask for angels around him and no accidents. Lord, let Your protection be obvious in all aspects of the training.

I pray, Lord, that Joshua will be successful in completing training, so he is officially a Marine. Give him favor for this. I pray he can deal with the stresses and pressures of the things he is called on to do -- and the "yelling" of the drill instructor. Work with him to be patient and determined to just keep going.

I pray he grows close to You at this time. I pray that You pull him aside into a close, intimate relationship. Out of the lonliness he feels, may he seek You, and find that he is no longer lonely, as YOU fill that empty place inside him. May he have the genuine experience of being filled with The Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues. I pray he is totally, radically changed by a powerful encounter with Your Spirit! May Your Spirit draw him into close relationship with the Father and Son.

I thank all of you for your prayers. I missed one or two of them.

Dear Lord, I pray that Joshua does graduate to being a Marine. I pray he has a career without negative impact, such as refusing to go fight as some have or doing things that are not honorable and the like and so on. I pray he distinguishes himself as faithful, as honorable, as respectful, as patriotic, as loyal, as obedient. I pray he goes forward with heart and courage to whatever assingments are given him.

Keep him close to You. Draw him near to You at this time. Let that relationship with You be the keeping power of his life. Let him always make it through with dependence on You and Your strength. I ask that no matter where he goes or what he does, You will break through to him with visitation. Let him have an awesome, awesome relationship and fellowship with You. Let him seek You and pursue You all the days of his life. Make him a God chaser! I pray he is drawn near to You now, at this time, and pray he builds on that realtionship all the days of his life.

Father, I pray for protecition and safety mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally. Keep hima alive and keep him from the affects of undo stress. I pray for angels to attend him. I pray Your blood covers him. I ask that our prayers form a shield about him. I pray Your Holy Spirit is a burning wall of fire around him. Let his mind be renewed that he does not suffer from post traumatic stress at any point. Keep him strong in body, spirit and soul.

Lord, keep Joshua safe on the rifle range. I pray there are no mishaps toward any being hurt there. Keep all safe on the rifle range. I pray they learn to aim affectively.

Father, keep Joshua safe to the end, in everything put before him to learn and endure. I ask that no harm befalls him. Put protective and strengthening angels around him.

Lord, I continue to pray that Joshua will do well in Marines training. I pray he is safe and successful. Let him become a Marine, and let no harm befall him in the proccess. I pray he is kept mentally safe down the line when he is deployed and has to deal with the trauma and tradgedies of war. Protect his mind as he learns to put on the full armor, including the helmet of salvation, so his mind is protected. Train his hands for spiritual war, just as he trains for natural war at boot camp. I pray that now and in the furture he is safe and successful in all things. I ask and pray, in Jesus Name, amen.

Thank you for the prayers for Joshua. I meant to post here every day. But God is hearing our prayers, regardless! Joshua did this exercise where he had to take apart his rifle and reassemble it, and he was the fasted, which really impresssed the instrutor. Also, and, MOST IMPORTANT, he has been attending a church called "Penecostal Fire" through the Pendleton Camp, where the rifle range is. We found a piture of him on line, with his hands rasied, praising God (we never saw him do this at the home church!). I am not sure what happened to his Marines Bible that we sent with him, but he asked his mother to send him another Marines Bible. It sounds like he is really getting ON FIRE for God, as we prayed. According to the pictures on line of these church meetings, this is a really on fire group of guys he is meeting with. PRAISE THE LORD!!! It is just thrilling beyond words to see and hear this!!! Our church was Four Square (and now is independant charismatic), so not exactly sure how he honed in on the Pentecostal Fire church as being the right one....when he kept saying any religion is fine as long as you have one. Getting away from his Dad was a good thing, and joining the Marines is having exactly the impact I hoped it would: His relatonship with God is becoming established, and he is growing close to God!!! WHOOHOO!!! Let's have a praise and worship session right here!!!


Dear Lord, continue to do what You are doig with Joshua. This is just SO awesome!!! I thank You for working in his life mightily, beyond what I even imagined. I pray he is ON FIRE for You and he takes his relationship with You with him everywhere he goes. Thank You, thank You, thank You!!!!!!!

I pray for his continued sucess at basic training. Let him graduate with honors. I pray he excells.

Really awesome! When his Dad saw the picture, he asked where he was and what he was doing. Joshua's Dad used to praise the Lord with as much enthusiasm, if not more. I pray this triggers a memory, and Paul comes to his sipiritual senses!!!

My other nephew, David, explained that after boot camp a Marine starts basic training, so they are two different things.

Dear Lord, I pray that Joshua continues to do well, passing all his tests and exercises. I pray that he does everything required to the right specifications and level. I pray he aquires the skills required to pass.

Give him grace in dealing with the drill instructor(s). I pray he continues to keep a good attitude about that. Let the DIs be fair as well. I pray they aren't unecessarily mean. May Joshua respond to them well, so he isn't sited for disrespect or attitude.

I ask that he continues to grow in his relationship with You. May he know that You will help him through the difficult days of boot camp and the following days of basic training. I pray he will go on to rely on You through his entire career as a Marine, however many years it is.

Lord God, keep him safe and protected always. I pray for angels encamped around him. Let Your hand of protection and guidance be obviously upon him. I continue to lift up Joshua for success in boot camp and intimacy with You. Continue to keep Your hand upon Him and let Him draw near to You. Father, I pray that Joshua makes it to graduation. Continue to help him pass each test and exercise and to do all else required. I pray he really is graduating and let it be with honors. I pray for Your help in this to be obvious to all and especially to him.

I ask, Lord, for Your protection to surround and cover him in all waysand areas and always. Go with him in obvious protection now and in his Marines career.

I pray he makes it through basic training as well. I pray for his success there, to be the best possible military man he can be, for safety and skill in all he has to perform as duties for those who command him.

Lord God, draw him near and close to You. Let his relationship with You fourish into something truly beautiful. Let this relationship keep him all his days. I pray he is a migty witness for You of his love for You and of Your love for him.

I ask that if You have other plans for him, You would make these plans plain and would arrange for his honorable discharge from the Marines in order to pursue those plans.

Lord, it's Joshua's birthday today, and he has two tests. I pray he receives the birthday present of passing! I pray he and I both pass our tests and our rejoicing! I ask that he passes these two tests today, any others that may be coming and then....the crucible. Prepare him and strengthen him for the crucible, which I believe is next after these two tests. Once he makes crucible, he graduates. Bring him successfully to graduation.

I pray his relationship with You is established and growing strong during this time and through basic training. Let him really find out what he believes for himself and let that be that he believes in YOU. I pray for a mighty tranformation in his life, not just to a soldier for the US but to a soldier in Your army. Make him a mighty warrior in both!

I ask for his safety and protection as his life unfolds in the Marines. Keep angels ever about him. Keep him in Your care, as he tucks himself tight under the wing of the shadow of the Almighty (let it be so that he does!). Joshua made it! He graduates tomorrow! We say him today on what they call his "liberty." It was great to see him. He acted so grown up and changed. My nephew-in-law, who was in the Marines, said he'd come out cussing, but he didn't. He was told to get it together (not in those words) or he'd get dropped back. This was at he rifle range. So, he did get it together. And he scored two points under sharp shooter. It was cool to be there cheering for our Marines, at least those graduating this week. I hear they graduate a new class every week.

We are going over for graduation tomorrow, and then he is free to come home for ten days, after which he goes back for further training, I think in a skill, such as mechanic or whatever. They told him he would probably be some form of mechanic.

This is SUCH a momentous occasion, and I praise the Lord we could make it down here for the graduaion! To see him acting so mature, so polite, so respectful is just awesome.

Joshua left EARLY this morning to fly back to California for more Marines training. I keep getting the amount of training wrong, but now they tell me it's one month. Joshua could be quickly deployed after that.... Pray for his safety and protection. Keep praying he grows close to the Lord. I believe he did grow closer, and he can go back to the Pentecostal Fire church when back at Camp Pendleton. But, he still does many things that he needs removed from his life to show a true man of God. We had a really great prayer time over him Sunday night, and he was equipped to fight the spiritual war as well as the natural.

Dear Lord, give Joshua a mind that is intent and alert as he learns combat training. I pray he is paying close attention to be the best warrior (Marines are not called soldiers but warriors) possible. Give him success in all things that he may be the safest possible when in battle. Protect, guard and guide him through the entire process. I pray he is aware of the angelic protection around him; allow him to see visions of those angels. I pray he is keenly aware of You helping him through all things during he MCT (Marine Combat Training).

I ask that he is proetected as per how we prayed Sunday night. Give him discernment to understand the things we prayed and the things we gave to him in he Spirit....the sword, fire, oinment and other gifts. Let him understand that he is eqipped to win spiritually over everything coming against him. Let him know You are going to protect him in the natural, when on the battle field. I ask that he will be made aware of when he is in danger to escape that danger. Show him the moves to make and when to fire on the enemy and so on. I ask that his angels are on assignment, never sitting idle. May our prayers keep them activated. Let Joshua know the prayers to pray to keep them activated. We also envisioned him in the pillar of fire, and that is the protection of the Holy Ghost. May Joshua dwell in the wing of the shadow of the Almighty to be protected according to Psalm 91.

I ask that Joshua is growing closer and closer to You. Show him plainly those things You are asking him to give up. Let him know that he must love You more. He can go back to Pentecostal Fire, and I pray he grows stronger in his relationship with You as he attends there. Let him know the relationship with You is the most important thing in ALL of life. Let him put this on the right level of importance -- at the very top!

Father, protect his MIND! I pray he has a sound mind. Do not let the traumas of war mess up his mind. May his helmet of salvation be in place at all times. Teach him how to keep it in place to protect his mind. I pray we see a miracle of one who returns from battle without being messed up from horrible memories. Teach him how to renew his mind in Your Word. And how to keep his mind STAYED ON YOU so he can have perfect peace. I ask for Your blood covering him and protecting his mind.

Thanks for the prayers, Janet. I heard once that a church prayed daily for those in their congregation that were fighting in a war and not one of them was badly hurt.

Lord God, I pray for Joshua's safety and protection and success in the Marines. I pray he grows, daily, closer to You. Let his time in the Marines be most blessed and let him be a mighty warrior for YOU! Show him how he is to be fighting in Your warfare. I ask and pray for blessings and anointings upon him.
