Is there anything God can't do?

A young friend of mine asked me, "Nothing is impossible for God, right?"

I answered nothing. He asked; "If God was asked to create a rock so big He couldn't pick it up,could He do it?" Meaning could He pick up the rock. I said yes he could. Meaning that if God willed to create such a rock He could. He then said,"I thought that there wasn't anything He couldn't do? "He can't pick up the rock, so then that is something he can't do."

I told him that if God willed to create a rock big enough that He could'nt pick it up then he had done as he was asked. It is not that he can't it is that he made a rock big enough as He was asked.

My friend still insists that it proves that there is something God couldn't do then; in that he can't pick up the rock.

Any one out there who can add to this question? I'd be very interested to hear your input. Thank you

I don't know if you noticed, but we had moved your thread from here identical to this one, up to Christian discussions. I did so, that others may be able to share more insight that could help you. I also requested the one you had there, removed, as you only need the one for responces that God may provide you the help needed. That way, the responce(s) given here, were moved with it and God could speak thru others to help as well if so lead. Thus, your thread is up there and safely posted for more responces.
