Email contact forms don't work

Whenever I try to email someone from their web page, I get a message that says "The host hotmail can not be found" (or "could not be--"). Anyway, to change this, I switched to this live (.) com account, because I thought I read where it would solve this problem. Well, it did not!
I not only lost all my folders and stored info and emails from the hotmail account, I still can not get an email to go through from the form that pops up on the webpage when I click on their email address. It still says the server hotmail can't be found.
I thought they said Windows Live would solve this, and I thought I signed up for Windows Live....but it's typed as live (.) com after the * symbol. And it still says "hotmail" at the top. When I had outlook express I had no problems emailing directly off a webpage...or I could email something I typed in a Word document. I can not send stuff from my documents, anymore. I have to send everything through a message in my inbox. I have to write down the address off the webpage and use it in the inbox or I have to copy and paste in stuff from my documents into my message box and mail it from there. What goes?

Well, since you've changed from outlook express to another program, it may not be compatible with Windows. There is a program Windows can run that checks programs if compatible or not.
Run that on your computer and choose your email program to see if it is or not.
Hit Start, then "Help and Support". Look down the list until you find the "program compatible" test system. Click on that and from there follow instructions.
This will tell you the level of compatibility of your secondary program and if it is having problems or windows is with it.
God bless!!

Thanks for the info. Will check it out.

BTW-
I forgot to tell you, MSN is being phased out more in favor of "Windows Live" programing. Its still MSN, just not by the name. My MSN hotmail is now "Windows Live Hotmail" and uses my WL Messenger account for the hotmail.
MSN has still kept thier browser service also.
It shows the over 300 emails I got there from MSN, since I never use it, except on other sites I know send multiple junk emails. Then I go into the junk and send the good ones to my reg. email. That way, I'm not cleaning out hundreds of them each day from my most used personal email.
Between the 10-12 Christian sites I visit almost daily, when check an offer out or deal with some party over info, I end up with tons of advertisements usaully after that.
And with XP probs, I'm forced to use 3 email accounts, in order to keep things divided up and sorted for proper checking and looking into or seeking info.
God Bless!!

I am using the live.com email now. Have you used it on those email forms on the web sites you visit? They still say "the host hotmail can not be found." Sorry, been busy, and I haven't checked out the info you posted about whether it's compatible. Compatible to what? I don't quite understand the lingo, sometimes....
Before when I tried to get a new or different email account, they wanted to take all my email from the one account and put it into the new one. How do you keep them all seperate? I want to do that, too. Everything just crowds into one, then it's hard to find the "important" emails.

Outlook express is my main base "home" program, with Incredimail as the add on for my email. But I use the WL Hotmail for offers I get from friends or sites I visit and use the yahoo account for sending info to from information sites when researching.
The outlook express is included with XP, so use that thru my ISP for main email. But I have to have the Hotmail one for W Messenger. I've tried the old MSN Messenger which never fails me, but its antique and the system locks it up ad forces me to go Win. Live after a couple uses.
MSN is "MicroSoft Networking. So, MSN Messenger was always MSN Messenger to start with. Since they Trade Marked Windows as a Messenger now, that was the newer MSN Messenger. (Sorta like newer advanced versios of the old MSN).
After that, Win. Live Messenger came out with all kinds of stuff, like- (my space add ons, Win. Live search for Messenger, Hotmail, etc.)
Well, since I was off this last month, they must have made Windows Live a major program now, as since I came back on, my MSN Home page is now WL Hotmail Home page automatically and there is no more MSN Hotmail to set up for W Messenger, its WL Hotmail accts.
What main program are you using for your email since dropping Outlook Express? The other program may be what is not working good with your system. My ISP provider helped me switch when MSN was having probs last year, but then I found some parts of programing didn't work with using another email main program. (Even tho its integrated in new XP systems.)
Calling them back, my provider said you don't know till try them, as to what will work and what won't, per computer. Your physical components used to operate your computer, may or may not have particular electronics to accomodate the path ways needed to operate certain programs. This can be found out by finding out what Brand and model components you have, checking them over web to see what these components are capable of running.
See, my computer can operate equipment thru USB ports, but some external devices hooked up thru those ports, cannot be used, as the internal components of my tower are not built with electronics to run path ways for them, as those devices were not around back when my components were installed. As such, the older electronic parts cannot support the drivers or other software, that can be used to recognize and set up the pathways to use those external devices.
I can install the drivers and device software, but the electronics cannot provide the appropriate pathway needed, to properly run the external device. Now, I can manually change that and make a pathway to work for that device, but according to my ISP provider, doing that may cut off being able to use preset pathways for other devices., since they might be cut off in the process.
See, I had trouble with Internet esplorer a year ago, so switched over to firefox and added on its universal software in place of the other. Big mistake. A guy from a Church I know who is a wiz at computers, told me my worsened problems came from my computer re-arranging its pathways so much to use Firefox, that was worse than Internet Explorer.
To cure this, I'd have to eliminate Explorer completely from my computer, and all its extras, in order for more direct paths to be used. Sounds easy, but takes quite awhile, as there are lots of extras connected with Explorer to be removed.
In doing that, some parts of essential programs needed to run firefox right, can be removed as well, when removing a main Windows program and its extras. That means some firefox aspects may not work because of that. Its a give and take deal that way.
My ISP Provider told me to always check thru the Windows program capablity system, to check if a program will properly adapt to the XP system I got.
Since XP first came out, they brought out more of them after, with improvements. My version is from 2003, which does have service pak 2, but not the updates that came out with XP in 2004-7. So, I have to search out specific updates for it, when some programs require that, which the compatibility program will show.
Its interesting trust me. I've learned alot since having to install a new foundational operating system for my computer. But, you can't know if is the main program or your internal components that won't support something, until run that compatibility program. If your program will support and adapt to an add on, but still don't work, have the compatibility program test your BIOS or your DIRECTORY systems.
These two are the "Brain" of the computer and that test program will tell you if either has the Windows programing installed to operate the system. If does, it will tell you if enabled or not. If not, you need to get into the right one and "enable" it.
Not all programing is set up "live"- (in use), from start up. Some have to be activated after the fact. I watched another do it to mine and wrote down the steps for doing it myself later if need be. Here is a simple understanding of "internal components" and how they operate-
Think of a component- (piece of hardware), as a factory building. Inside that factory are electronic parts- (workers). Now, electronic parts- (workers are capable of only performing work they were designed for or can understand).
If a program or "add on" has an operating sequence that cannot be understood by the workers, there cannot be a direct pathway-(orders for job) carried out. Thus, other workers- (electronic parts) from another component- (factory), who can understand, must take over and decifer this info, down to where the main component- (factory) and its workers-(electronic parts), can understand, then carry out thier orders.
In some cases- older electronic parts- (workers), were never designed to recognize particular orders, so then newer advanced components- (factories), with newer electronics- (workers) who were designed to recognize and understand these newer orders sent out, will handle the job.
The "BIOS"- (Brain) can figure out what components- (factories) and workers will do this. But, if a program is not activated or the electronics- (workers cannot recognize) the orders, you can see all types of "error" pop ups from - this is not enabled, to it does not support this action, or your programing is not designed for this, to- drivers not detected, to device software not detected, program or system needs updates, etc.
God Bless!!
