Yesterday at 6pm sharp!!!(while I was praying hard!!), my laptop just went off. It is a Sony Vaio, about 3 years old now. I have tried the following...removed the battery, replugged the adaptor, checked the power supply, left the whole thinbg unplugged for 12 hours plus......but nothing. I cannot afford to take it for repairs at the moment. Please any tip would be greatly appreciated.
Bless you all.

Well, from my experience its one of several things, either your adapter burned out, the multiwire plug from your input PC Board came loose from its plug or an electronic part burned out on that input PC Board.
Regardless if your adapter shows juice going thru it, adapters are built to adjust voltage or wattage to a certain level. Thats what has to be checked thats its not over that level.
God Bless!!

It is most likely a bad battery. buy a new one online to save money. www.pricewatch.com. you dont need an expensive shop to tell you that. i could be wrong however, hard to tell without seeing it.

I agree if it was the battery being used, but not if an AC adapter is. If thats the case, yes, it is the battery. But, if was using it with an AC adapter and laptop quit, its what I was mentioning, as the battery system is cut off for recharging normally when AC adapter is used or when a charger is hooked up.
That little light that comes on normally when turn laptop on, will normally light one color if on battery and may change color when using AC adapter. In that way, it shows there is power to the system regardless which source of power is used. Normally if light don't come on at all, you must trace the system one by one for components to figure out where the problem is.
Could be as simple as a loose power cord, or as costly as an adapter, battery, or internal electronic parts.
God Bless!!
