I want to tell you about a dream a minister had, and when I thought of it today...you came on my heart.
There was a minister who did everything that God directed him to do, but he was not getting the response that he had expected. He wanted people to have joy, and understanding and love. Instead all he saw was turmoil, division, and depression. He wanted to end the ministry, because he felt as though he was just being taken advantage of, and no one was receiving what God had in store for them. He prayed and told God to help him terminate the ministry. The night before he planned to announce his decision he had a dream:
A man gave him an axe and pointed to some rocks and told him those rocks needed to be split. He took the axe and began to chip away at them, he worked long and hard BUT he was just barely scratching the surface of the rocks. He tried to do what he was told, but there was NOTHING showing for his hard work. He decided to stop, and just then the man showed up again. The man asked why he stopped and he said, "I can't split these rocks. I have tried and tried, and all I can do is scratch their surface."
The man answered and said, "Your job was not to split the rocks, but to peck away at them."
The man walked away and he turned to a rock hit it with the axe and it exploded into thousands of pieces.
When the minister woke up he told his wife. I am NOT going to quit, I am going to keep pecking!!
I am sure that you never contemplated quiting, but I just wanted to encourage you, to let you know that you are making a difference. Sometimes the scratches are enough, it creates character and makes the rocks more distinguishable.
