Fear & Faith
By Andrew Cyders 13 years old

Fear is something most people have at a young age and gradually get over (most of it) at a older age. Faith is the opposite of fear. Faith is a thing that always stays. It keeps you pushing toward a goal. Faith is believing something good is bound to happen, and fear is believing something bad is bound to happen. In the Bible it says we should meditate on the good things that are right, true, and wholesome. If we do that fear cannot enter in because we're already filled up with good thoughts. In other words there is no room for fear, and the same goes for if you fill your-self up up with bad thoughts. There will be no room for faith. Fear slows us all down, it causes us to hesitate because we think "what if?" or things like that. We can't just be passive or give up on it. We were created with a sense of something could happen (good or bad). But we are not supposed to freak out and act paralyzed.

Take your next step even if it is hard to climb. Don't think about it, clear your mind.
No "what ifs", think of how you'd do it. Do it over and over again in your mind. Then go. No fear. Think of good things like when you will finish it.

Here is a biblical example on what I am talking about. In a war, Israel against the Philistines, there was a man of faith very close to God named Jonathan. Jonathan's fathers name was Saul, he was the king of Israel. Jonathan (I think) was talking to God and he was told to go up to the rocky hill (where the Philistine garrison was) with only his armor bearer. So he went up bravely without even telling his dad (who was in a bad mood, a very bad mood). Up he went into battle with only one person, swords in hand. "Come up here, we have something to show you" said the Philistines and afterwards Jonathan won.

How is that for no fear?
