How do we know which gifts the Holy Spirit has given us? Has anyone wondered why we don't hardly see the gifts operating in the church today? I think one reason might be that many christians believe that these gifts are for pastors only, but I believe God gives His gifts to all of His children. But there are some christians who believe that certain gifts were only in effect until the Bible was completed or until the last of the apostles died. What do you all think? Sometimes it can get confusing.

I believe God gives these gifts to any Christian who desires them, at the time needed, for the purpose needed. All that's required is the believer to ASK and be open to His leading and be obedient to His direction.

We need these gifts now more than ever. Those other beliefs are untrue and not of God, but of men. Since the PERFECT [Jesus] has not come yet, we should continue to operate in the power and signs and wonders and gifts until that day. Now we see through a mirror darkly. When Jesus returns, we won't NEED the gifts, or tongues, or anything like that because we will be with Him and like Him forever then.

We do know for sure that EVERY BELIEVER should 'speak in new tongues' should 'lay hands on the sick and they shall recover' and if they encounter any deadly thing it 'shall not hurt them'. [Mark 16:17-18].

We don't see the majority [of American] Christians operating in the gifts, having signs and wonders following them, or walking in power and authority because they are in doubt and disbelief, believing only the parts of the Bible that suit them, becoming luke warm and complacent, following traditions of men instead of God's Holy Word.

We need to be the church God expects us to be!

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are here today if we but only let Him work them through us. Not everyone is given each of the gifts, but we are given the ones which God deems are needed for us to accomplish the task He has called us to do. If we accomplish one task and are called into another which requires us to have a different gift then God will give it to us. Paul explains it like this:

1Co 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.
1Co 12:2 Ye know that when ye were Gentiles ye were led away unto those dumb idols, howsoever ye might led.
1Co 12:3 Wherefore I make known unto you, that no man speaking in the Spirit of God saith, Jesus is anathema; and no man can say, Jesus is Lord, but in the Holy Spirit.
1Co 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Co 12:5 And there are diversities of ministrations, and the same Lord.
1Co 12:6 And there are diversities of workings, but the same God, who worketh all things in all.
1Co 12:7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit to profit withal.
1Co 12:8 For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom; and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit:
1Co 12:9 to another faith, in the same Spirit; and to another gifts of healings, in the one Spirit;
1Co 12:10 and to another workings of miracles; and to another prophecy; and to another discernings of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues:
1Co 12:11 but all these worketh the one and the same Spirit, dividing to each one severally even as he will.
1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ.
1Co 12:13 For in one Spirit were we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether bond or free; and were all made to drink of one Spirit.
1Co 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many.
1Co 12:15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.
1Co 12:16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; it is not therefore not of the body.
1Co 12:17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
1Co 12:18 But now hath God set the members each one of them in the body, even as it pleased him.
1Co 12:19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
1Co 12:20 But now they are many members, but one body.
1Co 12:21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: or again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
1Co 12:22 Nay, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be more feeble are necessary:
1Co 12:23 and those parts of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness;
1Co 12:24 whereas our comely parts have no need: but God tempered the body together, giving more abundant honor to that part which lacked;
1Co 12:25 that there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
1Co 12:26 And whether one member suffereth, all the members suffer with it; or one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
1Co 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and severally members thereof.
1Co 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, divers kinds of tongues.
1Co 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
1Co 12:30 have all gifts of healings? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
1Co 12:31 But desire earnestly the greater gifts. And moreover a most excellent way show I unto you.

Seek guidance from the Holy Spirit as to what your calling from the Lord is in your life and ask Him to give you the gifts needed to fulfill that calling to the best of His ability through you, not just to the best of your ability.

The greatest gift of all is love. If you seek Him for this one gift, all alone, you will not know how you were ever able to live without it. Since many still do not know, many still yearn for and search for the other gifts, they tend to not see this one.

After I was taught how to really seek God, I read the scripture that says without love these other gifts will have no profit for us.

I thought, at the time, well I guess I will go for this one, because I think probably it has been overlooked by most, and I began to persue it. Guess what! God is Love! If you have Him, you have it all.

Perfect love casts out all fear. Love never fails.....the most perfect gift from God is love.

Love believes all things. Do you believe that? 1 Corinthians 13:7.
