Father I seek comfort in the reassurance of salvation. I am grieved however over the war in the middle east. Father please end the senseless killing of innocent people. Please bring peace to the middle east. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

We must pray! This is what some of these muslims want to do here in America. Whether you like it or not this is a religious war.

The weapons of Christians are not the weapons of the muslims. The bible says the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but are mighty through the pulling down the strongholds. Our weapons are prayer and intercession. Our weapons are love, joy and peace. This is my interpretation of EZE 22:30-31 I looked for a person to stand in the gap and make up a hedge of protection so I did not have to allow man to kill himself. But I found no one who would take the time to pray. So I had to let him kill others and himself and the land.
Now the Lord is looking,
that means He has a need.
He has a need for someone to
Stand in the Gap
Make up a hedge of protection
To make intercession so He does not have to let them kill anymore.

Will you go to war with me God's way.
The war is on our knees in love and prayer
We will win this war if the body of Christ rises up and prays.

Family, neighbors mourn loss

WEST WHITELAND -- Nick Berg, the 26-year-old West Chester business owner who traveled to Iraq seeking work building communications towers, was beheaded by a group claiming ties to al-Qaida.

On the video of the incident, originally posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site, five masked men dressed in black stood behind Berg, who was wearing an orange prison-style jump suit.


The men held Berg as one of them brandished a knife, which he put to Berg’s neck before killing him.

His killers said Berg’s death was retribution for the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison -- an offense they declared could not be "redeemed except by blood and souls."

Prior to his execution, Berg identified himself, named his parents, Michael and Suzanne, and his siblings, David and Sarah. He added that he lived in Philadelphia.

The Bergs told the Daily Local News recently they had not spoken with their son since April 9. He had been trying to return home for more than a month since missing his scheduled flight on March 30 because he was detained by Iraqi police.

Members of the Berg family gathered at their home on the 1200 block of Estate Drive in West Whiteland Tuesday. They had been informed of Nick’s death on Monday by the U.S. State Department, according to Kelly Shannon, the department’s spokesperson for the Bureau of Consular Affairs.

It is unclear when the Bergs learned about the nature of his execution or the existence of the video.

The family, which declined to speak with the press on Tuesday afternoon, instead released a short statement read by next-door neighbor Bruce Hauser.

"The Berg family is devastated by this loss. They wish to extend their sympathies to the other families who have also suffered," Hauser read. "They are asking the Army to expedite the release of Nick’s body so the family can make arrangements and put this behind them."

Hauser, who has lived next door to the Bergs for 21 years, said he "broke down and cried" when he heard about Nick Berg’s murder.

He added that Berg was a playmate of his two children growing up and described him as helpful and a "fine young man."

"My wife and I are here for this family, and we are going to comfort this family as much as possible," Hauser said. "They are my neighbors today and they are my neighbors tomorrow, and I am not going to say or do anything that is going to harm them."

"The level of violence is devastating. This family, what they’re suffering is devastating," was all Hauser would say.

"This was a cruel and barbaric act, and there is no justification on God’s green earth as to why anybody would do this to another human being," Gerlach said.

"This is an attack upon civilization that cannot be condoned or understood or allowed in the future if human beings are to interact with one another," Gerlach said. "As a result, we need to find who these people are."

Gerlach has been helping the Bergs navigate the various agencies of the federal government in an attempt to contact Nick Berg since he disappeared in March.

According to Gerlach, Berg traveled to Iraq alone, seeking contract work from some of the larger companies working in the country. The State Department’s Kelly Shannon said Berg’s company had not done work with the U.S. military. Gerlach could not confirm whether Prometheus secured contracts with any private companies.

Berg’s parents lost contact with him -- for the first time -- after speaking with him on March 24. He had been expected to return home on March 30, but never boarded his flight.

Berg had been detained by Iraqi police in Mosul for 13 days, which caused him to miss his flight home scheduled for March 30. He was released April 6.

Berg’s body was found on a roadside in Baghdad, according to Gerlach, and has since been transported to Kuwait by the U.S. military. It is expected to arrive at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware either today or Thursday.

In response to the execution of American Nick Berg, let me first express my sadness and condolences to all who knew him.

As I read JG's comments about Muslims and his request that Christians wage war against Islam, I think of how scary a place America has become, and how it's fundamentalist Christians—people like JG and the current Presidential administration—who are in fact largely responsible for helping create the scenario we find ourselves in. Does that sound crazy? Of course it does, but let's examine the politics which led the US to where it is today, and this will help explain what happened to Nick Berg.

If you examine the politics of the first Bush adminstration and that Bushs' particular Holy War against Islam, and then follow the tactics, comments, and actions of our current President, and administration, what happened today should come as no surprise. The evidence is all around us. In the south we have a Judge who wants to bring religion into his courthouse, though our founding fathers specifically made sure it did not happen by writing it into our greatest testatment to freedom, our Constitution. Elsewhere, the rise of crime against Jews and other minorities increases, and more recently, the President's (read Bush) decision to strike down any laws granting same sex couples the same rights as married people has made headline news. Religious intolerance then, is the cause of what has happened. Both the intolerance of the Christian right, with its power hungry and money hungry agenda, its disdain for different religions, of women, of the poor, of minorities, etc.

In many ways, fundamentalists Christians and fundamentalist Muslims believe in many of the same values! How so? If you look at fundamentalists, whether they are Christian, Muslim, or Jewish, the fact is that they all hate women, they would try to control the financial lives of both women and minorities, they would deny gay men and women equal status in their respective societies, and they would impose THEIR OWN BELIEFS on all others!!

Consider looking at the actions of Richard Nixon when Iraq nationalized its oil reserves, and the actions of the current President's father and his response to the Iraqi government the US was asked what we would do if they attacked Kuwait. Our reaction was, "We won't get involved", thereby giving Iraq the right of way for that attack, only so that we could position ourselves for an immediate attack on Iraq. Similarly, that Bush killed thousands of innocent men women and children, many of them in broad daylight, as they were fleeing the city. Then add to that that we (America) then leveled hospitals, schools, and homes, killing thousands more.

To say that Islamic radicals represent the "norm" is really ridiculous, and must be a testament to both JG's intellectual abilities and your emotionally dwarfism. I travel all over the world and have many Islamic friends, many Buddhist friends, many Hindu, Christian and Jewish friends, and many of them agree on one thing: that they disagree with this adminstrations' attack on Iraq, and its continued alliance with Israel.

When Canadians were polled last week, they were asked whether or not Rumsfeld should resign. A majority of 80% of Canadians thought he should in fact resign. A similar poll in the US showed that only 20% of Americans thought Rumsfeld should resign. Something is wrong in America. The bottom line, again, is that nationalism and emotionalism, and now religious fanaticism, on ALL sides (yes, George Bush and his fundamentalist Christian ideals figure largely in this) are helping to turn the world upside down.

I don't know about Christianity, but in my religion, faith, love, and compassion are the main tenets, not maligning an entire religion, not promoting hatred, and especially not encouraging a annihilation of an entire people, these are not religious values, and I would dare say they are not the teachings of Christ. I shall keep you and all other terrorists im my prayers JG, and I hope that Christians in this forum will do likewise.

That sums it up. How can you know something that you don't know about. There is a verse in the Bible that says: "my people die because of lack of knowledge, because the reject the knowledge of God". To most of us on this board Jesus is the only one and ture Savior. We are not mad at anyone. We do love them but if you really want to know Jesus is the only way. The only differece is we are not going about killing people to win them to our God.

If we do not pray then as our God says the other guy will take over. We must stand in the gap and pray for the power of God to touch their lives so the killing stops.

Father, Bocca de la Razon is in need of Salvation. In the Name of Jesus I claim Bocca de la Razon for the Kingdom of heaven. Holy Spirit, please show Bocca de la Razon the Goodness of God, bring him/her to repentance and to Salvation in Jesus. Reveal to him/her the truth about being Christian and the conflict with Islam and other religeons. but most of all, Lord bring him/her to Salvation. AMEN!

Father, my spirit aches for the Family of Nick Berg. I ask that the Comforter be sent to them to lead the to Jesus and the only hope that they have. Please remove any hate from their hearts and bring them to peace and an easing of grief and sorrow. Holy Spirit, I release You to work in the lives of Nick's Family and Friends, show them the Goodness of God and bring the to repentance and Salvation in Jesus, the Messiah. Do not allow them to run from God, remove Your wrath from them and bring them Home to You! Cover them in the Blood of the Lamb that was slain for their Redemption, forgive their sin and hear the cries of their hearts and answer them. Father, I ask that You protect them from the Media feeding frenzy that is surrounding them and guide them through this maze of sorrow and pain to the victory in Jesus and deliverance from the bondage that is holding them in the depression of loss. Please take your arms and surround the family and friends of Nick Berg in a big way. I cannot imagine the loss of a child or spouse in such a horrific way, but you understand how it is, Father. You gave your Son to die on the cross for all of us. Start healing the heart, souls, bodies, and minds of these people and allow your peace to work in their lives. Allow them to productively deal with their grief, dear God, and find solace in You. Allow these radicals that say they do what they do in the name of God or Allah to be brought to justice and the world see that God does not work in these ways. The excuse of the execution was retaliation for the prisoner mistreatment, but You, Lord, know the real reasons. Give us all the strength, wisdom and knowledge to come together in Your name and fight the battles that we need to fight against those that do not believe as we do, as Americans or as Christians. Thank you, Lord, in your precious name...AMEN and AMEN...

Lord, I pray that You bless these executioners with the knowledge that they have committed murder. They have broken one of the Ten Commandments given to us by Your Word and they have stepped outside of any covering from You. I pray that they be given understanding about how they destroyed one who was created in Your own image and after Your likeness. I pray that they begin to have dreams about it happening to one of their own closest family members, who were helpless to fight back or get away. I pray that Your Holy Spirit send angels to give them true revelation of what has been happening.

Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me the words to write this next part. I pray that the man or woman, who receives benefit from releasing the horrible film about our soldiers torturing other soldiers into our heartland, gets the same punishment as any other terrorist that threatens our national security. If this is a weapon used by a political candidate, let the people of the nation be made aware that they have one who walks in league with Satan. Let us have this knowledge openly, so we can openly choose between one who follows You and one who follows our Adversary. Let the people's eyes be opened.

Let any station of the media, who helped to feed the hate from within our country receive a special blessing from You, Father, for Your glory. In Jesus' Name, I ask these things. Amen.
