Praying for our Soldiers in Iraq photos will you enter a prayer
The Average Military ManHe trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle. Psalm 144 The average age of the military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his father's; but he has never collected unemployment either.
He's a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away. He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and 155mm howizzitor. He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk. He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him, but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark. He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must. He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional. He can march until he is told to stop or stop until he is told to march.
He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient. He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry. He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts. If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food. He'll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low. He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his hands. He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job. He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay and still find ironic humor in it all. He has seen more suffering and death then he should have in his short lifetime.
He has stood atop mountains of dead bodies, and helped to create them. He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed. He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square-away' those around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking. In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful. Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is the American Fighting Man that has kept this country free for over 200 years.
He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding. Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood. And now we even have women over there in danger, doing their part in this tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so. As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot.. A short lull, a little shade and a picture of loved ones in their helmets.
Prayer Wheel "Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen." Prayer : When you read this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our ground troops in Afghanistan, and sailors on ships, and airmen in the air, and for those in Iraq. There is nothing attached.... This can be very powerful....... Of all the gifts you could give a US Soldier, Sailor, Coastguardsman, Marine or Airman, prayer is the very best one. Author Unknown |

Thank You Father for the men and women who are gone to war for the freedom of people who are afraid of the change, for the saftey of those who would kill them in a heart beat, for the smile of a child who has known nothing but fear. Thank You Father for those who go willingly and those who go reluctantly. Thank You Father for those who go to war, meet each of them where they are and bring them to Salvation and bring them home saved and safe. AMEN!

Father, let all of our children be protected by Your armour. Let your eyes always be upon them. Shelter them under Your wings. Give them showers of relief and comfort. Let them have enough food to eat, and enough sleep at night. Let them be cool in the daytime and warm at night. Hide them from the destroyers. If one of our children comes near to danger, let them be unseen by the enemy and let them quickly escape.
Let the soldiers feel the love of their own country's people wrapped around them with each heartbeat, and we ask that You manifest Yourself in their presence so that they will know You are there. Please give hearing to their ears and vision to their eyes, understanding to their hearts. We ask that they will never wonder aimlessly, but increase their knowledge.
Also, Lord. If something is not working, let them try doing it a different way, even if it has never been done that way before, even if it seems silly. Give us Your favor, Father, as we give You our best. Let all things be done decently and in order.
In Jesus' Name......Amen.

Ok I am going to try again tommorrow to post a picture of one of our soldiers but my scanner is not cooperating right now. Guess it thinks at 5 am on a saturday I must be crazy for thinking I could get it to work. It is the first thing I have tried to use it for LOL.
My husband has been fighting in Iraq as some of you know since Nov. 2003 we have not seen him since then except by webcam he will be home soon. Thanks be to God but these prayers mean alot thanks. He has been in the military for 7 years so he no longer fits the young version Jerry gave but that wasn't even him when he joined he was 24 when he joined the Army.
I also have a dear friend Sean over in Afganistan. And a friend who will be going to Iraq when my husband comes back so I feel the effects of deployment in a lot of ways. They bothe fit the story Jerry gave young and very misunderstood and thought of as kids but their more man than most much older guys I know. I am thankful for one thing all these soldiers are men of God. They all know Jesus on a personal basis and I know God will have their back at all times. It is sad to know there are men over there who are not saved and that is a harder batlle then these young men have to face knowing their comrades are not going to Heaven if they die in battle. So pray for those who don't know God when you say your nightly prayers ask God to save their souls and let not one die and face hell as all these men and women deserve so much for dying for the cause of freedom which none of them have without Jesus.
Jesus I ask you to save the men and women who are fighting for freedom who don't know what true freedom is. Father, it has been said there are no athesist in Foxholes but the truth is there are and all kinds of other religions as well. I ask you to open the heart of the men that work with Kevin, Sean, and David that they will shine your light and that those around them may see the freedom they have and want the Jesus that they have for their own. Father, use these men as more than physical warriors but spiritual warroirs in the land where Islam is the ruling power. I ask you to break down the strong hold of Satan in these two ungodly nations and bring Jesus to the oppressed and the unwanted and unloved in these countries. Put your thorny hedge of protection around these young men as they do your will father. Protect them all with a pillar of fire and surround them with a legion of Angels. In Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.

Father, our troops have been sent into the world as peace-keepers. We petition You, Lord, according to Psalm 91, for the safety of our military personnel. We look beyond human instruments of conflict and address the forces and authorities and rulers or darkness and powers in the spiritual world. As children of the Most High God we enforce the triumphant victory of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jesus stripped you, Satan, of your principalities and powers, making a show of you openly. Our Lord and Master defeated you. All power and authority both in heaven and earth belong to Him. Righteousness and truth shall prevail. Nations shall come to the light of the Gospel. We petition heaven to turn our troops into a real peacekeeping force by pouring out the glory of God through our men and women in that part of the world. Use them as instruments of righteousness to defeat the plans of the devil.
Lord, we plead the power of the blood of Jesus, asking You to manifest Your power and glory. We entreat You on behalf of the citizens in these countries on both sides of this conflict. They have experienced pain and heartache; they are victims of the devil's strategies to steal, kill, and destroy. We pray that they will come to know Jesus Who came to give us life, and life more abundantly. We stand in the gap for the people of the war-torn, devil-overrun land. We expect an overflowing of Your goodness and glory in the lives of those for whom we are praying. May they call upon your name and be saved. You, Lord, make known Your salvation; Your righteousness You openly show in the sight of the nations.
Father, provide for and protect the families of our armed forces. Preserve marriages, cause the hearts of the parents to turn toward their children, and the hearts of the children to turn towards the fathers and mothers. We plead the blood of Jesus over our troops and their families. Provide a support system to undergird, uplift, and edify those who have been left to raise children by themselves. Jesus has been made unto these parents wisdom, righteousness, and sanctification. Through Your Holy spirit, comfort the lonely and strengthen the weary. Father, we are looking forward to that day when the whole earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. In Jesus' name, amen.

Sorry it took so long haven't had time to figure out why scanner wasn't working. Anyway, the picture is from Resurrection Sunday 1999. Our family is the same size just everyone is older LOL. My husband is in Iraq now. This is my soldier, he will be home in around 8 weeks. Praise the Lord. The last 9 months have been really trying. But I know it was Gods will that he be there.
