French President Jacques Chirac of France blocks Nato plans to train Iraqi security forces. Chirac says he want's to stop President Bush from being elected.

France yesterday led a clutch of nations blocking Nato plans to train Iraqi security forces.

The 26 Nato allies agreed last month in Istanbul to go ahead with a training programme, but the US and the French remain at odds over the interpretation of the accord. At issue is the extent of any Nato deployment inside Iraq.

Despite three meetings yesterday, ambassadors failed to clinch a deal on the details of the operation, though there was optimism that a compromise can be found by the end of the week.

France was the fiercest critic of the war in Iraq and a row over plans for Nato to protect Turkey from potential attack by Saddam provoked the biggest crisis in the alliance's history.

Meanwhile France is reluctant to avoid making any show of international support for George Bush's Iraq policy before the Republican Party's pre-election convention, which opens at the end of August. French President Jacques Chirac wants to have an effect on the election by stoping any Nato support. He said he does not want Bush to get re-elected.

At the Istanbul summit the French President Jacques Chirac, said that the alliance could offer support to individual nations which want to train Iraqi troops but that "a Nato presence in Iraq" was out of the question.

Germany and Belgium are also unenthusiastic about an alliance mission inside the country but will not stand in the way of the majority.

The temperature has been raised because the US is pushing hard for an early decision and for an ambitious programme of Nato involvement.

"At the end of the day the French fear that the Americans will be able to transfer responsibilities to Nato because of this unique chain of command," said one Nato diplomat. They would rather destroy Nato than help the Americans.

They accuse President Chirac of reneging on a deal over training which was struck before the Istanbul summit.

I am so upset about this. President Jacques Chirac is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of babies and children because he will not help a country learn to defend themselves. He has friends who have made millions of dollars from Saddam Hussein's blood money and yet he is playing politics with the lives of all these men, women and children because he hates Bush.

Shame on you President Chirac. Shame on you France. Millions of people have come to your aid over the last two wars in your country and now you just sit there and let innocent Children die because of your hatred of America.

Just think of it NATO was there for 50 years to protect you. Americans started it to protect you and Americans have been paying Billions of Dollars to keep it so you will be safe. Now you would rather see innocent people die rather than let NATO do what it was designed to do.

Shame Shame... Father I pray for these people who have so much hate for all the good. I forgive them. Father I confess it is hard for me to forgive them but I do. Now I pray your hand to be upon them. If a leader allows death and destruction then they should be held accountable. Father Move on President Jacque Chirac and make him the leader you want him to be.

Father let the world see, America was bothering no one and the terrorist came here and killed 3,000 people. Let the world know the Lord had us take the war to them before they brought more death to us. Father freedom will be a new word the people of Iraq will learn. The French have said in their old colonial way, Iraq will never understand democracy. Father I know this, once a nation tastes freedom they never want to go back to slavery.

President Jacques Chirac this is your fault. All this pain is because you will not do what is right. Let NATO go.

If we did not go to Iraq they would be here. Father give the Americans a backbone of courage. Give us the wisdom not to cower to the threats of the terrorist. Give us the ability to stand up when no one else will. All the rest of the world is cowering and are in great fear. Father do not let that happen here. All the terrorist have to do in Europe is blow up a train or car and the people will elect the person who supports the terrorist.

The question is are we safer. You know we are...

It is very clear the French are living in terror of their own country men. Father do not let that happen here. This land is our land. A land of freedom, liberty, speech and religion. Father you gave us this land. Father do not let us sell out to some clerics who call us the great satan.

Father the only answer I know is to have an army of prayer warriors who will give You no rest day or night until you establish this land as Your land. Let your people rise up in the power of prayer and praise. Let your people rise up in love and wisdom. Let your people rise up for your honor and glory. There must be at least one place where Jesus reigns.

Father I ask all of this in the most wonderful name of Jesus. Now father be glorified by Your answers.

Father I will not bow my knee to fear, terror or any politician from a foreign country that is acting as a terrorist by trying to hold our country hostage to his own will. President Chirac let NATO go or get out of the way because we will see freedom reign around the world.

Amen.May God's will be done in this situation.

Maybe Chirac think that the terrorists will leave France alone when he tries to block this... But when countries allow themselves to be impressed by terror threats then this is exactly what they want.

Let freedom reign in Iraq. Let the people be free. Stop this insanity by having a backbone and let NATO go. So we can teach the Iraq's to learn how to defend their own freedom.

In the Name of Jesus I rebuke the spirit of stubborn arrogance that binds President Chirac. Father, forgive him. Send Your Holy Spirit to work in his heart and life to bring him to repentance before You and lead him to Jesus and Salvation. I stand here in the gap for his Salvation, Lord work to bring about peace, put an end to the terror, the bullying, the division in our own country and hatred for all things American in the rest of the world. Let Your Peace, Your Glory, Your Justice, Your Love reign in this situation between countries. AMEN!
