Marines Turn to God ahead of fallujah battle Please Pray a prayer for them
Please don't just view this. Please enter a prayer for them. I have a Navy Chaplain I can forward them to. You never know it may be your prayer that saves a life. Most of these young men just got saved. So I ask you again it will mean a lot to them and the Lord. Please post at least a small I am praying for you. |
Why are the Marines turning to God ahead of anticipated Fallujah battle Sat Nov 06 2004 09:37:17 ET NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq, Nov 6 (AFP) -
These are the testimonies of your sons and daughters at war. In the last battles almost a year earlier a chaplain reported: "And we went into the center of that city, not realizing that about a thousand Fedayeen were waiting for us. And at four in the morning, in the dark, they literally unleashed all their fury. It became essentially a nine-hour ambush, from urban fighting, close quarters. The results of which should have yielded untold casualties and many, many Marines dead. Just because of the sheer volume of fire, we suspected anywhere from a 1,000 to 1,500 rocket-propelled grenades were shot at the lead elements of our convoy. When I got to the unit the next day and began to talk to the Marines, - what I saw was not a battalion licking its wounds and overwhelmed with the fight they had just endured. But literally it looked like I'd come upon a group of men who had walked through the Red Sea. Over and over the stories kept coming out to me, 'Chaplain, let me tell you what God did for me'; 'Chaplain, the angels that we have been talking about for weeks, preceding this war, shielded me and protected me.' It was amazing.
What the Marines shared was miraculous. They said rocket-propelled grenades would come at them, and literally curve in mid-air and go around them. Untold Marines shared with me that rockets would come and literally dive down as if batted by some unseen hand. We had one rocket go through a Humvee passenger-side window, and explode in the compartment. Without a doubt, it should have killed every man in that vehicle. And yet when the explosion came through, it blew out the front of the windshield, and so it exploded out instead of in, and not a single man was injured.
With US forces massing outside Fallujah, marines swayed to Christian rock music and asked Jesus Christ to protect them in what could be the biggest battle since American troops invaded Iraq last year. Men with buzzcuts and clad in their camouflage waved their hands in the air, M-16 assault rifles laying beside them, and chanted heavy metal-flavoured lyrics in praise of Christ late Friday in a yellow-brick chapel. They counted among thousands of troops surrounding the city of Fallujah, seeking solace as they awaited Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi's decision on whether or not to invade Fallujah. "You are the sovereign. You're name is holy. You are the pure spotless lamb," a female voice cried out on the loudspeakers as the marines clapped their hands and closed their eyes, reflecting on what lay ahead for them. The US military, with many soldiers coming from the conservative American south and midwest, has deep Christian roots. In times that fighting looms, many soldiers draw on their evangelical or born-again heritage to help them face the battle. "It's always comforting. Church attendance is always up before the big push," said First Sergeant Miles Thatford. "Sometimes, all you've got is God." Between the service's electric guitar religious tunes, marines stepped up on the chapel's small stage and recited a verse of scripture, meant to fortify them for war. One spoke of their Old Testament hero, a shepherd who would become Israel's king, battling the Philistines some 3,000 years ago. "Thus David prevailed over the Philistines," the marine said, reading from scripture, and the marines shouted back "Hoorah, King David," using their signature grunt of approval. The marines drew parallels from the verse with their present situation, where they perceive themselves as warriors fighting barbaric men opposed to all that is good in the world. "Victory belongs to the Lord," another young marine read. ........ Each Marine was anointed with Holy Oil before being baptized.. and going into battle..... read more
Their chaplain, named Horne, told the worshippers they were stationed outside Fallujah to bring the Iraqis "freedom from oppression, rape, torture and murder ... We ask you God to bless us in that effort." The marines then lined up and their chaplain blessed them with holy oil to protect them. "God's people would be annointed with oil," the chaplain said, as he lightly dabbed oil on the marines' foreheads. The crowd then followed him outside their small auditorium for a baptism of about a half-dozen marines who had just found Christ. The young men lined up and at least three of them stripped down to their shorts. The three laid down in a rubber dinghy filled with water and the chaplain's assistant, Navy corpsman Richard Vaughn, plunged their heads beneath the surface. Smiling, Vaughn baptised them "in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit." Dripping wet, Corporal Keith Arguelles beamed after his baptism. "I just wanted to make sure I did this before I headed into the fight," he said on the military base not far from the city of Fallujah.

Father, I stand on the gap for these young men and women who are fighting for people who don't trust them and don't know what to expect from them. Holy Spirit, work in the hearts of these and others to bring them to Jesus! and keep them at His side for their life and hope! Cause them to remember their faith when they return home safe. Let them shout from the roof tops of their home towns that Jesus brought them through the battle! Father, I ask Favor and protection for the men and women who will be going into battle. Let them see clearly the snares and traps set for them by the enemy. Let them show mercy as well as walk in Mercy from God! Bring peace to this war torn land and stand with them as they rebuild from the ashes to become a stronghold for Christ Followers all over Iraq! Bring the saved, persecuted church to this city for the covering of God and safety! rain down Your anointing and cover the town with the Spirit of God for the holiness of the city and the hearts of the people for Jesus! AMEN!

Lt. Gen. John F. Sattler Gives his Marines A Pep Talk for Fight in Fallujah
By Jim Krane Associated Press Writer
Published: Nov 7, 2004
NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) - As U.S. forces prepared for what is expected to be the biggest Marine-led urban assault since Vietnam, U.S. commanders pumped up troop spirits Sunday, saying they were no different from the storied heroes of Iwo Jima and Korea.
Standing before some 2,500 Marines who stood or kneeled at his feet, Lt. Gen. John F. Sattler, the commanding general of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, told them that they would be at the front of the charge.
"This is America's fight," Sattler said. "What we've added to it is our Iraqi partners. They want to go in and liberate Fallujah. They feel this town's being held hostage by mugs, thugs, murderers and terrorists."
Two Marine battalions, along with a battalion from the Army's 1st Infantry Division, will be the lead units sent into a Fallujah attack. They will be joined by two brigades of Iraqi troops.
"God bless you, each and every one. You know what your mission is. Go out there and get it done," Sattler said.
More than 10,000 U.S. troops massed around the Sunni Muslim city are expected to take a role in the assault on Fallujah, whose green-lit minarets are visible from the U.S. base near the city.
That's well over twice the number of Americans who were involved in an April siege on Fallujah. That assault lasted for three weeks, until Marines were forced to pull back amid Iraqi outcry over the hundreds of casualties. Sunni insurgents then tightened their hold.
Sgt. Maj. Carlton W. Kent, the top enlisted Marine in Iraq, told troops Sunday the coming battle of Fallujah would be "no different" than the historic fights at Inchon in Korea, the flag-raising victory at Iwo Jima, or the bloody assault to remove North Vietnamese troops who occupied the ancient citadel of Hue in the 1968 Tet Offensive.
"You're all in the process of making history," Kent boomed in a clarion voice. "This is another Hue city in the making. I have no doubt, if we do get the word, that each and every one of you is going to do what you have always done - kick some butt."
Marine battalion commander Lt. Col. Mike Ramos said many of the young fighters would be dashing into battle for the first time. In the barracks, Marines could be seen packing up gear, strapping anti-tank missile tubes to their packs. They would also be carrying gas masks in case of chemical weapons, a threat Ramos deemed unlikely.
"They're sharpening their K-Bar fighting knives; they're cleaning their weapons for the last time; they've fueled their vehicles and they've rehearsed the plan," said Ramos, 41, of Dallas.
Ramos predicted that "freedom and democracy" would prevail in Fallujah within days.
"Make no mistake about it, we'll hand this city back to the Iraqi people," he said. "I think it will be rapid."
During the fight, rules of engagement allow U.S. troops to shoot and kill anyone carrying a weapon or driving in Fallujah, a move aimed at allowing U.S. troops to fire on car bombers, Ramos said. Military age males trying to leave the city will be captured or turned back.
"If I see someone who looks like a martyr, driving at high speed toward my unit, I'll send him to Allah before he gets close," Ramos said.
Sattler reminded the troops that the assault would be a joint U.S.-Iraqi effort. The fledgling Iraqi military, which has been under intense U.S. training, needs to be led by example into the fight against Fallujah, he said.
"This is a whole can of whoop-butt all combined here," Kent said, surveying the Marines surrounding him.
A pumped-up crowd shouted a deafening "Hoo-rah" in response.

Jer
Lord, I pray for success in battle. Please let this be over quickly and let Fallujah be captured and returned to the Iraqi people. Dear Lord, let the terrorists be stopped! I pray You will unleash angels in the heavenlies that this may be won in earth. I ask for Your Shekinah Glory to be filling the skies that the demons may be overthrown that try to control this city through the terrorits, malitia, insurgents or whoever is all there. Lord God, I ask for protection of American sodiers, that no life may be lost. Put Your blood over these Christian soldiers who prayed before going in. Let them have a testimony to tell the world of Your protection. Send angels in amongst them for protection. Fight with the American forces whenever they invade this city, that this city in Iraq may have a chance to be free and to hear the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name, I ask and pray, amen.

Lord, make the city of Fallujah a city of Your Sanctuary. Defeat the evil one who holds the land and bring forth the Children of God to worship You in this place of the enemy's greatest defeat.
Father, Fallujah is known throughout Iraq as "the city of mosques" because it has over 200 Islamic mosques. Lord, turn this city seat of the enemy into a seat of Your Glory. Turn this sad town into a joyous place of Your peace and Mercy!
Lord, the name Fallujah means "division" and I ask that the Sword of Your Spirit be used to divide good from evil here in this town and in the land of Iraq! divide and discard evil. Divide and keep Your Peace! Divide the hearts of the people and bring them to Your side! Divide Lord and multiply Your Goodness to the people of Iraq.
Protect the men and women of the divisions being sent in to Fallujah and bring them all home, safe and whole and undivided in their hearts as they follow You in this task of war.
In the Name of Jesus! Bring Salvation to the land and bring forth Your Mercy for the people like streams of water in the desert land of Iraq. Blossom forth and bring the Beauty of Your Goodness to the earth where dust and death now lie in wait like a frustrated and hungry lion. Bring this tormented land and people to repentance and forgiveness. Bring Your love for the people of Iraq to fruition in Fallujah so that the people may taste and see that You are Good and Your Mercy endures forever and ever!
AMEN!

This is the best prayer i have found for our troops. I say it daily for it shall protect them.
Psalm 91
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD , "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you make the Most High your dwelling-
even the LORD , who is my refuge-
then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
"Because he loves me," says the LORD , "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

Father, they say the insurgents could be holed up underground, maybe have fled the city. Lord, wherever they are, let them be found and brought to justice. No unecessary or merciless killing. Just brought to justice. No brutal treatment once they are caught. You know what I mean. Please, let them be treated firmly but without violence. Any that are in Fallujah, do not let them escape! I pray that angels will block their paths, so they can not leave the city.
Again, let this war be waged and fought in the heavenlies that the coalition forces may subdue the terrorists on the earth. Let all demons backing these terrorists be destroyed! Not routed, but destroyed! Send them out of Fallujah and into the abyss or whever they go! Banish them, that these terrorists have no more evil power influecning and empowering them. Send extra warring angels, even as I pray, that this battle is fought and won in the heavenlies, so it is quickly finished on the earth.
I pray it is not "days." Let this end quickly! Wherever the insurgents are, lead the coalition troops straight to them! Do not let them be able to hide any longer! Smoke them out into the open, and let them be easily caught. I pray they are brought to justice, but most of all, give them a chance to hear the Gospel and repent of their sins.
Lord, have mercy on Iraq, and let all fighting be over quickly. Let the Gospel of Jesus Christ then be preached freely in the country.
Thank You, Lord, for answering swiftly. In Jesus Name, amen.

Father, our troops have been sent into the world as peace-keepers. We petition You, Lord, according to Psalm 91, for the safety of our military personnel. We look beyond human instruments of conflict and address the forces and authorities and rulers or darkness and powers in the spiritual world. As children of the Most High God we enforce the triumphant victory of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jesus stripped you, Satan, of your principalities and powers, making a show of you openly. Our Lord and Master defeated you. All power and authority both in heaven and earth belong to Him. Righteousness and truth shall prevail. Nations shall come to the light of the Gospel. We petition heaven to turn our troops into a real peacekeeping force by pouring out the glory of God through our men and women in that part of the world. Use them as instruments of righteousness to defeat the plans of the devil.
Lord, we plead the power of the blood of Jesus, asking You to manifest Your power and glory. We entreat You on behalf of the citizens in these countries on both sides of this conflict. They have experienced pain and heartache; they are victims of the devil's strategies to steal, kill, and destroy. We pray that they will come to know Jesus Who came to give us life, and life more abundantly. We stand in the gap for the people of the war-torn, devil-overrun land. We expect an overflowing of Your goodness and glory in the lives | |
