Cops Search for Taylor Berry a two and a half year old Missing Toddler prayer Prayer
11/06/04 Deputies Search for Missing Liberty Co. Toddler | Taylor Berry was watching cartoons at her grandparents' home on Isle of Wight Road before she disappeared.
|
Sheriff's deputies are looking for a missing toddler in Liberty County. Early Saturday afternoon, two and a half year old Taylor Berry disappeared from her grandparents' home on Isle of Wight Road near Midway. Taylor was watching cartoons in her grandparents' living room when she simply disappeared. "We didn't hear a door open or anything," explained her grandmother, Anna Carter. "I went in my bedroom to change my bed sheets and when I came back, she was gone." The family immediately called the Liberty County Sheriff's Department. Deputies and detectives brought in K-9 units to search the grounds and divers to scour a nearby pond. A helicopter with special equipment used to detect body heat continued to pass overhead, but still, no sign of Taylor. Her family tearfully sits by, waiting for any word. "I just want someone to find her," sobbed her other grandmother, Carolyn Helmey. Police are not giving up their search for Taylor, saying they'll stay through the night, if necessary. Family members simply want her home. "She's our Taylor," added Carter. "We love her and we need her. We can't go on without her." If you have any information about Taylor's whereabouts, call the Liberty County Sheriff's Department at (912) 876-2131 or call 911. Reported by Melanie A. Ruberti, mrubert****wtoc.com |

Heavenly father, we live in a very wicked world. One of the worst expressions of this evil is the brutal harm done to little children by sinful people. Often it ends in kidnaping, sexual abuse, or even the violent death of a child. Thank You for Your hatred of this despicable evil and for Your holy wrath. I ask You to stand with me in the watchful protection against any such evils happening to Taylor Berry. I have made You my dwelling, and I depend on You to assign Your holy angels in constant care of Taylor Berry. May the most clever ploy of Satan and the wicked people he controls be unable to touch Taylor Berry in any way. I plead the Blood of Your Precious Son Christ Jesus over Taylor Berry, and her family. I ask You to bring total conviction to any who would want to harm her in any way, shape or form. I ask You to be with her family, and comfort them, and help them to trust in You. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Taylor Berry Found Dead

(Lewis Levine)
Finger inlets reaching out from the East Channel of the Medway River surround the Isle of Wight. Doublewides and other modest homes surround a peaceful lagoon. Taylor Berry spent the last days of her life here with her Grandmother Anna Carter. “She was precious, precious, precious and everybody loved her and we all loved her she was very special to us.”
It’s believed the 2 year-old wandered out of her home and down the dirt road behind, Saturday afternoon. A neighbor noticed her playing with some puppies in her yard but thought nothing of it at the time. She may have been the last person to see the little girl alive.
For two days neighbors of every stripe showed up at the lagoon to search the nearby woods for Taylor. Today, everyone seemed to fear the worst. A small boat with borrowed underwater camera gear on board, slowly silently searched the water. Some neighbors stood in hushed conversation, while others set off once more into the woods to search.
Then word came. Quietly at first, “they found her.”
Taylor’s tiny body was found in one of the inlets just down the dirt road from where she was last seen. Her grandmother says it looks like she was exploring and fell in. “They said it looked like she just slid in and looked like an accident.”
Taylor’s grandmother, father Hugo, his mother Laura and other relatives clung to each other as investigators removed her body from the water. While those who searched, now stand by to support. Karla Sapp summed up why. “I have a two year old daughter and it makes you want to go home and just grab the baby and just hold them.”
Before leaving the scene to grieve in private, family members stopped to thank the neighbors and members of the media for helping with the search, saying the end brought some measure of solace. “I’m glad that we found her." Hugo chokes out between sobs. “I just thank everybody.” Anna is just as emotional as she turns her eyes upward. “I know she is in heaven right now, thank you.”
Taylor’s body has been taken for autopsy, but no one is saying it’s anything but an accident. They believe she wandered away from her grandmother’s home and fell in.
Several family members were subjected to lie detector tests this morning, but at this point it’s unclear whether police are still looking in that direction.
Taylor was embroiled in a custody battle between her legal guardians, her father’s family and her mother. Tensions in the dispute have run high but at this point Taylor’s death appears to be a tragic accident.
