A second hostage was killed yesterday:
=================================
By AMIR SHAH, Associated Press Writer
GHAZNI, Afghanistan - South Korea and relatives of 21 kidnapped Koreans appealed for U.S. help Tuesday, but Afghanistan said for the first time it will not release insurgent prisoners — the Taliban's key demand to free the captives.
Afghan police found the body of the second hostage slain since the Christian church group was seized nearly two weeks ago; the group's pastor was killed last week.
A purported Taliban spokesman, meanwhile, said some of the prisoners the militants want released are held at the U.S. base at Bagram — and the Al-Jazeera television network broadcast a video Tuesday reportedly of another Taliban captive, a German engineer.
The Taliban said more Koreans will die if its demands are not met by midday Wednesday. The militants have extended several previous deadlines without consequences, but killed 29-year-old Shim Sung-min on Monday after a deadline passed. His body, with a gunshot wound to the head, was found along a road in Andar district.
They were two of 23 South Koreans — 16 women and seven men — kidnapped while riding a bus July 19 on the Kabul-Kandahar highway. They are the largest group of foreign hostages taken in Afghanistan since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion that drove the Taliban from power.
In South Korea, relatives and a civic group pleaded for more U.S. involvement, and the president's office used more diplomatic language to prod the Americans.
"The government is well aware of how the international community deals with these kinds of abduction cases," the president's office said, an apparent reference to the U.S. policy of not negotiating with terrorists. "But it also believes that it would be worthwhile to use flexibility in the cause of saving the precious lives of those still in captivity."
The civic group People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy questioned what South Korea had earned for helping Washington combat terrorism. Seoul has sent troops to Afghanistan and Iraq.
State Department spokesman Tom Casey said there is regular contact between U.S. and South Korean officials on the standoff, but would not comment on specifics.
President Hamid Karzai's spokesman said officials were doing "everything we can" to secure the hostages' release, but that freeing militant prisoners was not an option.
"As a principle, we shouldn't encourage kidnapping by accepting their demands," said Humayun Hamidzada.
In March, Karzai authorized freeing five captive Taliban fighters for the release of an Italian reporter, but called the trade a one-time deal. He was roundly criticized by the United States and western nations for the move.
Qari Yousef Ahmadi, a purported Taliban spokesman, said eight prisoners must be released by midday Wednesday, and that some were held by the U.S. at Bagram.
"If the Kabul government does not release the Taliban prisoners, then we will kill after 12 o'clock," Ahmadi said. "It might be a man or a woman ... It might be one. It might be two, four. It might be all of them."
In South Korea, the slain hostage's father, Shim Jin-pyo, described his son as "chivalrous and warmhearted," and wondered how the Taliban "could perpetrate this horrible thing."
Kim Jung-ja, the mother of another hostage, said the U.S. should "give more active support to save the 21 innocent lives."
In the minute-long video shown Tuesday on Al-Jazeera, a stocky man with graying hair stood in a rugged mountainous area surrounded by masked Taliban fighters, some of them carrying automatic rifles and RPG launchers.
The man seemed to be speaking to a camera but his voice was inaudible in the aired footage. Al-Jazeera said he appealed to the German government and the U.S. to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. The video also showed four Afghans whom it said were kidnapped with the German.
The broadcaster did not say how it obtained the video.
Two German engineers were reported kidnapped earlier this month by the Taliban. One of them, Ruediger Diedrich, 43, died in captivity under unclear circumstances. His body has been flown back to Germany for an autopsy. German media have identified the second man only as Rudolf B.
German media reported that the video included a demand for the release of 12 Taliban fighters in exchange for the German and four Afghans. But Al-Jazeera spokesman Ayman Gaballah told The Associated Press there was no specific mention of releasing 12 Taliban prisoners, only a call for compliance with Taliban demands.
Earlier media reports in Afghanistan said the Taliban have demanded that 10 prisoners be released, and Germany withdraw, in exchange for the hostages' freedom.
In Germany, foreign ministry spokesman Martin Jaeger criticized the release of the video and said the ministry was pressing efforts to secure the hostage's release.
Germany has 2,700 soldiers serving with the NATO-led force in Afghanistan.
___
Associated Press reporters Noor Khan in Kandahar, Rahim Faiez in Kabul, Salah Nasrawi in Cairo, and Burt Herman and Jae-soon Chang in Seoul, South Korea, contributed to this report.
=======================================
A new deadline was reportedly set, and this time it is for real. There are 3 more male hostages remaining, and it is possible that the Afghan government is betting the Taliban will not kill the remaining 18 female hostages.
Please pray fervently.
Thank you.
"Where are you O God, when evil seems to triumph? Please be with our brothers and sisters who are in captivity........I don't know what to say now.....please, may Your will be done. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Dear all,
A rescue operation has been mounted to free the hostages. Please pray for the safety of our brothers and sisters.
"Dear God, as bloodshed may not be avoided, we pray for the safety of our brothers and sisters and all who are invovled. May You soften the hearts of the terrorists so that they will surrender peacefully, and let not a finger be lifted against the hostages, and may those who are involved in rescuing the hostages be safe from harm. In Christ's Name we pray, Amen."

Two South Korean Christians Killed by Taliban
Reuters News Agency/VOM Sources
The Taliban killed two of the 23 Korean Christian hostages they had been holding since last week. Reuters News Agency reported kidnappers threaten to kill more of their 21 captives if the Afghanistan government fails to free rebel prisoners by 7:30 a.m. GMT on Wednesday. The 23, including 18 women, belong to the "Saemmul Church" in Bundang, a city outside Seoul, South Korea's capital. They were working at Korean Action, an aid organization in Kandahar. Most of the Koreans are in their 20s and 30s, and include nurses and English teachers. Killed on July 25, Bae Hyung-kyu (42), was a pastor and the leader of the group. Shim Sung-min (29), killed on July 31, was a former IT firm employee and planned to go to graduate school.
Please pray for a peaceful resolution to this crisis. Pray for comfort for the families of the two Christians killed. Pray for the safety of the hostages and pray for their loved ones at home in South Korea.
KJV Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. 7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. 8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
KJV Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

They can only boast for a season.
1. Fret not thyself because of evil doers, neither be thou envious against the worker of iniquity. 2. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
That scripture comes from Psalms 37
That is a good chapter, one of the best!
God speed unto his!
Psalms 37:7-17
7. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prosperteth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
10. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance or peace.
12. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.
13. The Lord shall laugh at him:for he seeth his that his day is coming.
14. The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent thier bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.
15. Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
16. For a little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.
17. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.
18. The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be forever.
19. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
20. But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
21. The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy and giveth.
22. For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.
23. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.
24. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
25. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
26. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
27. Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
28. For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
29. The righteous shall enherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30. The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his toungue talketh of judgement.
31. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
32. The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33. The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
34. Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
35. I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.
36. Yet he passed away, and lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
37. Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.
38. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.
39. But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.
40. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

I bind these captives to the hand of God and the will of God.
I loose off violence, strife, demonic control, and the spirit of murder.
Guard them from harm, Lord, and set them free.
Break the back of this monster stronghold and dissolve it.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Lord, I continue to stand in gap for the South Koreans Christians being held hostage in Afghanistan.
Watch over them Father God and keep the wicked one far away from their tents.
Give them strength and courage and speed up their release.

Taliban says no plans to kill hostages before meeting with Korean delegation
The Associated Press
Friday, August 10, 2007
GHAZNI, Afghanistan: The Taliban said Friday it would not kill any of the 21 remaining South Korean hostages it is holding until planned face-to-face meetings have been held with a delegation from the East Asian country.
The captors have repeatedly threatened to kill more of the captives they seized on July 19 if their demands are not met, though negotiations appear to have bogged down in recent days.
Taliban and South Korean officials have agreed they want to meet for talks to break the deadlock, but have not been able to agree on a location that both sides consider safe.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi said negotiations on a location were continuing by phone.
"Until we sit for face-to-face negotiations with the Koreans, we have no plans to kill any Korean hostages," Ahmadi said.
The South Korean government issued guidelines for its aid organizations saying they must leave Afghanistan by the end of the month for safety reasons, a South Korean Embassy official said on condition of anonymity due to policy.
Last month, the government banned its citizens from traveling to Afghanistan.
Authorities will decide whether they can return to the country after "the situation settles down," the official added.
Ahmadi said the departure of South Korean aid workers would move forward negotiations with the Taliban.
"The pulling out of Korean aid workers will have an effect on our negotiation process because pulling out of Koreans from Afghanistan is part of our demand. It will have a positive effect," he said, without elaborating.
In South Korea, a spokesman for the hostages' families said the mothers of several hostages — five women and a translator — will travel to the emirate of Dubai next week to seek help from the Arab world in securing their loved ones' release.
"The reason why we are sending women, especially mothers, to Dubai is that Islamic culture has more sympathy for women," said the spokesman, Cha Sung-min.
The 23 South Koreans were abducted July 19 in the Qarabagh district of Ghazni province as they traveled by bus from Kabul to the southern city of Kandahar. Two of the captives have been executed by the Taliban.
There has not been a breakthrough in negotiations more than three weeks into the hostage ordeal. Afghan authorities say talks with the Taliban, who have demanded the release of Taliban prisoners, are the best way to resolve the problem.
The captives — volunteers from a church group who planned to do health work in Afghanistan — include 16 women and five men.
====================================
Father! Continue to stay the hand of evil and free these men and women! Give them hope, strength, comfort and peace as they are held and give their families peace over their fate. Make a way of escape and make sure they know that though they walk through the valley of the shadow of death that they know beyond all sense that You walk with them and are holding them up in Your arms, protecting them and bringing them out of bondage! Thank You Jesus! AMEN!
