TAMMY FAYE MESSNER UPDATE Articles / Testimony Letters Date: May 15, 2004 - 06:44 PM May 1, 2004 To my friends, I don't know HOW to say a proper thank you for the prayers you have prayed for me. I KNOW what prayer involves, first of all you have to actually stop and THINK about me, then you have to take your valuable time to ask God to help me, and to heal my body. I want to say thank you for that. I can feel your prayers, especially during the discouraging times when I'm feeling sick and wishing I didn't have cancer. When that happens I picture YOU asking God to help me. And I feel better! I have presently had 6 treatments of Chemo. For me, that has involved a very sick tummy, a mouth so sore that you cannot brush your teeth (hope I don't lose them all) ha! ha! I do have a mouthwash called "swish and spit" (ha!) that helps some. At least it makes my mouth "feel clean" and that's good! Ha! Ha! So far my hair is "hanging on for dear life". In fact I took a real chance and colored it.... Red, of course! Ha! My first 6 treatments I had done at the Eisenhower, Lucy Curci Center in Rancho Mirage, CA. I was away from home for almost a month. During that time I want to thank John & Terry for providing us the use of their beautiful desert home during that time. I will always love them for doing that for Roe and me at the time when we needed it the most. Roe and I arrived back in Charlotte a couple of days ago to two happy little dogs, Tuppie and Muffie. The little "doggie kisses" and those wagging tails made everything "all better"! Ha! Today I met my new doctor that will be taking care of me. He took blood and has put me on antibiotics as my white blood cell count is so low. I guess they don't want to take any chances of me getting an infection. Please add WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT TO YOUR PRAYERS FOR ME. I need MORE of them! Ha! I keep repeating the verse in the Bible that says: Fear thou not for I AM WITH THEE, BE NOT DISMAYED: for I AM THY GOD; I WILL STRENGTHEN THEE, yea, I WILL HELP thee; Yea, I WILL UPHOLD thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 I trust the God I have served for 50 years, I trust Him with ME. Did you know that YOU can TRUST God with YOU? What PEACE that brings! My next chemo starts this Wednesday, the 5th. I thank you for your continued prayer in my behalf. God bless you my friends. You are LOVED by ME! Love, Tammy Faye May 7, 2004 Hello everyone! I thank God every day for YOU!! I really do! I was supposed to start Chemo here in Charlotte last Monday. Tests showed that my red and white cell count were down so far that Chemo was not possible. I asked you to pray and I just left the doctors office with a “good report”!! My count is up both white and red and I can start Chemo again this coming Monday. I will be there for 6 hours Monday and two and a half hours on Tuesday. I need you to pray for one more thing, please… the cancer count has been 21. It’s supposed to be 6. As of today it is up to almost 27. It needs to come DOWN! It’s going the WRONG WAY! Ha! They say this is not significant, that if it were jumping by tens or twenties they would be concerned. But any jump UP is significant to me. So God answered your prayers for the white and red cells to go UP, PLEASE pray that the cancer number will go DOWN. I’m so glad that you are there for me to talk to and share with. Sometimes I get really scared! Oh, my hair is still hanging in there! YEAH God! Ha ha!! I love you, my friends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for stopping to think about me and then praying for me. You will never know how much I love you for that and how much I appreciate you taking your time to ask God to heal my body. They have taken out so much blood…… so many of those long bottles; I hope they don’t “drain me dry!!!! Ha Ha! My mouth is still really sore and I cannot taste food… oh, that’s not exactly true, I CAN taste white cake with butter cream frosting! Ha! Maybe THAT accounts for the fact that I’m not losing any weight through this ordeal! Ha!
